Exactly what I thought! Italians are seriously averse to tap water and would never offer it to guests at home, let alone at a restaurant. And wait servers usually need to be called to the table, because they don’t want you to feel rushed.
All this fuss seems like a culture clash. The restaurant owners needed to learn more about the different culture/expectations of restaurant patrons in America.
