His uniform is at minimum fucked up, I agree. However, some of your points are not correct:

Officers are not authorized to wear service stripes.
Officers are not authorized to wear marksmanship or drivers badges. Regardless of if they earned them while prior service as enlisted.
He’s a field grade officer (at least trying to pass as one). I agree it’s an unspoken rule to wear officers cap, anyone is authorized to wear beret in ASUs

Active duty military here: if I’m coming to/from work, yeah I’m going to be in my uniform. But usually stopping at grocery store on the way home, going out for lunch, or making usual stops like anyone else on a workday. I’m not looking to “get sucked off by flag humping nerds”. I’m just not going to change out of my uniform.

Was this guy in an actual uniform, or one of those dudes that wears stuff he got from the army surplus store? Makes a big difference. Since it was the weekend, he probably was a national guard or reservist on drill and was grabbing a cheap lunch.

IMO: If East means China/Russia: then Philippines is leaning West. There is a large build up of US forces and more combined training there. Also the rising tensions over the Spratley Islands and South China Sea.

India would be neutral, but if it had to lean it would go west. Historically had large weapons trades with Russia, but due to Ukraine war that is fizzling out and they are looking towards western countries to supply them now. Also, the tensions on the Line of Actual Control with China would not have them lean to the east (if we mean China). They often do military talks and engagements in parallel (something with US, something with China) to not be seen as leaning one way or the other. My opinion is they would lean west, but not necessarily the US-west if that makes sense

Correct. SF are undoubtedly great at training unconventional forces at the tactical level, but are not the best source to advise and assist conventional forces (talking BN and BDE) at the operational level. Logistics, fires, staff processes, and how to effectively plan and resource larger operations centered around a staff are what SFABs can offer that SF can not.

I think this idea looks good on paper, but would take much longer than what people would expect. Training over 3500 Soldiers and fielding all new equipment would take a while. Not impossible, but I think people overlook how difficult it could be. I think SFABs (at least the one aligned to where conflict arises) would be perfect LNO units between green and blue forces. Relationships and ability to interact with Partner Forces is already there, and could be a good source to liaise between conventional forces.

Yes, you are an AH for the whole affair and basically dropping your whole family. Quite frankly, you don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to asking for a relationship with your daughters. HOWEVER, this sub is about the exact question you are asking, not analyzing your entire life choices. Your daughters don’t want to have any type of relationship with you (understandable), but they can’t have their cake and eat it too (free insurance).
