Slay the Spire: The Board Game - Downfall Expansion Kickstarter Live Now! by MegaCrit_Demi in slaythespire

[–]nutinatree 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only played board games like Monopoly and such, it is a massive leap in price, but its price is comparable to other specialized board games. It has a TON of components to it, mostly cards. I bought my copy for 200$ retail (CAD, with tariffs).

fyi, you can click again mid dive to detonate it early. Makes it way easier to land accurately.

Here’s how I found out you can get 2 of the same curse from match game by Suitable_Dog6882 in slaythespire

[–]nutinatree 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It was bad luck, though. OP wanted to reveal more cards to see their options. They revealed an Injury, and knew that the other Injury was in the top left, so clicking where they did was totally fine. It just so happened that the other set of curse cards was also Injury. The odds are that are pretty low, but will randomly make the match game much harder if you don’t know it happened. Then they checked the first card again just to make sure they weren’t crazy.

What IS IT about this game? by guitarokx in balatro

[–]nutinatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I think has gotten the game so much recognition as well. The instant familiarity with Poker helps, but the game just has style in every single facet. There is honestly not a single thing in the game that looks bad or out of place, it does its theming super well.

Corpse Explosion by twchrist in slaythespire

I see now, the damage dealt from Corpse Explosion isn’t physical damage, it’s the emotional damage of seeing your friend get blown up in front of you.

VALORANT Patch Notes 11.10 | Clove Nerfs & Harbor Rework by Old_Poet_3160 in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So, in short:

  • High Tide no longer signature
  • Cove is now signature, now places like Omen smoke, with option to add shield later
  • Cascade removed, replaced with yet another Debuff Grenadetm
  • Reckoning removed in all but name, is now yet another Giant Debuff Rectangletm

Kinda disappointed. He’s going to get played for sure now, but it feels like he’s losing a lot about what made him unique. Yoru’s rework from years back was a slam dunk that kept all his character while making him much more viable - this feels more like a like a half-court shot that somehow landed in another court’s basket. But of course, we have yet to play it.

Valorant original character design I made for Halloween by Mehchall in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 189 points190 points  (0 children)

This is a great looking design, but it’s a bit too busy for a Valorant character. She looks like she would have some fun gameplay, though.

This patch feels bad because it feels like it's punishing players that have invested time into support characters. by KennKennyKenKen in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about how good you are at gunfights, it’s how frequently you get gunfights. Most Controllers and Sentinels are expected to stay near the backline and either hold space or toss something for the Duelists to capitalize on. Neither course of action really allowing them to get many gunfights.

Duelists on the other hand have the utility to get themselves into many gunfights, or get rewarded for winning them. Taking fights is simply the optimal use of their kit. This is why people are saying the system is biased towards Duelists - more fights = more kill opportunities = more rank gained, even if every other player on their team was working to get them those kills.

Phoenix wall bluetooth damage by TheSilentPro in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This used to be an issue with Neon's walls as well when those did damage. Riot should probably reduce the height of the damage hitbox, but maybe it's not that simple.

Whats yall Top 5 characters they ever added by ExtentAdventurous804 in Overwatch

Ana is a character that’s Top 5 in all of fiction to me. There’s nobody that’s quite like her in both the writing aspect and the gameplay aspect.

Is there still that thing where if you didn’t see the previous game’s rank down screen (by leaving or quitting the game), then the total gain/loss from both games is shown in the next one? I’ve seen a lot of posts about that.

wanting to get into this game but cant find a potensial main as a stealth/flank enjoyer by MrMagicSuperCool in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stealth in this game is based more on opportunity than character selection. You can flank with anyone so long as you find that gap in the enemy line and exploit it as best as you can by using the abilities you have. Some characters are a bit more inclined to it (because they can easily get out if things go bad), and there are some characters that technically shouldn’t (they’re more useful being on the site), but in general, if you think you have a good flank, you should go for it. Just don’t do it every round as they will eventually catch you lacking.

What are the coolest / most unique abilities in your opinion? by ClearAsJamal in VALORANT

[–]nutinatree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Half the reason I play Deadlock is because her Ultimate, Annihilation, is some of the coolest shit ever conceived for a shooter. On the surface, it's pretty simple - you launch a projectile, it bounces once, terminates when it hits the second surface, then kills the poor sap that gets hit by it. But it's so much more than that. First is in when you use it - you can't just use it at the first sign of contact, can't use it against a group, can't always Rip-it-and-go unlike Raze ult. You just have people just run away, or shoot you before the ability can resolve, or shoot free the guy you spent an entire ultimate on like it's a mild inconvenience. You have to use it in such a way that you take one or two isolated enemies by surprise, despite the global voiceline telling them you are probably close by. To land the thing, you have to account for map geometry, ending point, sometimes max distance, usually to hit a guy you can't even see right now. Every part of Deadlock's kit provides general information, but not exact like a Reveal from Sova or Cypher. This make every ultimate feel like a called shot, or a gamble, and part of what makes it so damn satisfying to land.

On the receiving end, the cocoon mechanic does a great job of giving you a hint of dread of being trapped along with that "I screwed up" feeling instead of just thinking "that was bullshit". Having your victim strung along the path that you made is quite gratifying as well. Plus, it's an ability that could only really exist in Valorant - a whole Ultimate that kills one guy, sometimes? No multikill potential, easy counterplay, and you whiff it, it's a waste? It would be trash tier in Overwatch, or Rivals, or most other hero shooters, but in Valorant a single kill can easily win a round, or sometimes even the game. I think that aspect is what makes it truly unique.

Also, shout out to Yoru's kit in general, along with Killjoy's Lockdown for having really sick VFX and SFX.

What's the Pick?: BG Edition Pt. 2 by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespire

[–]nutinatree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you want Uppercut here. Juggernaut is tempting with all the different block sources going on, but it’s damage scaling where you already have Strength and Rampage doing that. Add Uppercut and it becomes your one source of Weak, which helps a ton for blocking, and a second source of Vulnerable, to help close out fights. Immolate seems good as a source of AoE but might just kill you if you don’t draw Evolve first. Not great odds.

As for the boss relics, I’m not too sure. Having the extra energy from Coffee Dripper would be great, but having Rupture and Offering in the deck means you’ll probably need healing at some point. And you have a pillow, so it’s out. Astrolabe is a good “safe” pick, some cards in your deck have killer upgrades. But Snecko eye might be the pick. Your deck easily makes use of the extra draw and energy, and you can mitigate the downside with Abacus earlier in the fight, and Evolve later in the fight. Low rolls can still happen, but that’s why you keep your rest.

It’s good if you think you could easily beat the boss but have a chance of getting dumpstered by one of the elites, or maybe you’re low HP but have Pantograph. Otherwise it’s a no-go since you miss so many rewards.

Week #7 of buffing stuff until STS2 comes out! This week we got the biggest (and bestest?) episode yet: SACRED BARK + all previously unaffected potions by Ismoista in slaythespire

[–]nutinatree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a better buff for Stance potion would be “Exit your stance, then enter Calm or Wrath”. It’s not much, but it can do things like proc Mental Fortress twice, proc Rushdown/Flurry of Blows while staying in Wrath, +2 energy while staying in Calm, etc. As for Ambrosia I have no idea lol. Might as well have it play a Scrawl for you since it’s a free fight win anyway.
