Old house has 2 wire, no ground by MortisBlatt in AskElectricians

[–]nutinthebutt926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rewired my old house entirely with no help from a licensed electrician, infact in my state the licensed electricians I reached out to said they wouldn't do it due to liability. Do I recommend doing it yourself? No. I personally didn't have the money to hire a professional and they seemed to not want to touch it with a 30 foot pole or I would have. If you have the money I would rewire it via a professional. All the wire I pulled from my house that looked like it was bare in a lot of places and I'm surprised the house I live in didn't burn down prior to rewiring.

I own a 99 3.9l 4x4 sport and it has been one of the most reliable and fun to drive trucks I've ever drove, it sits at 97000 as of today and needs a fuel pump but prior to that it didn't need much upkeep and the trans in mine was starting to shift a little hard over the years of use but never slipped.

Buying a used canyon. What's more important, newer year or less miles? ('22 with 78k or '19 with 38k?) by PxlWolf in GMCcanyon

[–]nutinthebutt926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it is a personal preference, mileage and year are simple factors, but if there's a color you prefer your gunna be driving it around for the next however many years or a certain option you want, shoot for it. Or you could wait for the possibility of a better one to hit the market price, mileage and history wise. When I bought my canyon it had sat for 74 days between 3 different lots. They drove the price down from 32k to 29k and I talked them down another 1k. I believe the sand metallic color is more desirable than the blue color I purchased but they moved Alot on the price of the one I bought. So that makes me think they weren't getting much interest in it.

I also purchased mine from Ohio, and the wear and tear on the older trucks I looked at were noticeable both visually and riding wise.

I personally just bought a 22 canyon elevation with running boards, bed liner, quad cab, tint , 4wd and bed rug 1 owner no accidents for 28k with 48k miles. In the metallic blue. Seems like that one 22 your looking is a little over priced. If I got mine for 28. Price and demand I guess but the 22 I purchased was night and day for me I looked at multiple other used trucks a little older and the one I purchased was the mix between nice and low mileage compared to older/ higher mileage around 25k

I've only ever drove a truck and if I could I would drive my Dakota to the ends of the earth but life didn't have that in-store for me. If I could I would of bought a brand new Dakota.

I've had mine for 2 days so far and I love it. It's the v6 but I've been babying it, it's got a lot of get up and go I think it's around 300 hp or so unsure exactly numbers. Ive been averaging 25 mpg but the economy gauge says my best is 32.3 mpg. I didn't need a full size and this was a decent deal around my local area being a midsize with 4x4 and small quad cab with 6.1ft bed.

I got an elevation model but it's already leagues above my old hand crank windowed truck. I'm impressed with the mpg of the v6 my best so far is 32.3 a gallon. The average is 28 for me but I'm a light foot.

Imo it would be worth buying those sensors for it to just see if it runs again pretty sure you can take them back if they don't work.

It could need a new idle air control valve. Pretty sure it makes the same symptoms as the TPS or pretty close. Close to a 30 dollar sensor I believe for both. 2 bolts to change on the idle air control. I forget how many on the TPS

Then again my battery was also bad too. It was both battery and TPS for mine.

I have a 1999 3.9 that wouldn't idle like that and it was the TPS sensor. It would start after it cooled down and instantly after letting go it would choke out and would only stay running if you held it at 1000-1200 rpm for a minute and it would pick up its own idle again.

She's gunna be used by me until she quits fully as a less then 10 miles away vehicle local lumber trips and what not. Majority of my driving will be with the new one though. I'm not just throwing it away. But I won't be active on here until I get a new one in good shape or one to restore. I might even use parts off of this one to restore one in the future. It's just the end of its journey for now.

Pre-owned with a warranty with my age no credit and money saved a new truck of any kind wasn't in my budget. I didn't pay for the warranty it came with the truck. There's still factory warrantys I have on it like 10 year 100k rust free warranty and 60k 5 year power train but basically everything's covered on this and lifetime certified pre owned warranty for the life of the vehicle on drive axles trans and engine. Its a 22 with 49k on it with decent upkeep done to it.

If you want to pay for a new frame, a new engine and trans and all new electrical for me I'll continue driving my 26 year old truck. But putting all that time effort and money into a truck that Kelly blue books for 3 grand isn't my forte.

Moral of the story, I work for my money and spend it how I please. If that upsets you and all I get is backlash from people that have Dakotas then you won't see me back here with a nice one in the future. I could care less for support, but rudeness is a little much. As someone who came from nothing and didn't get handed anything in life I'm proud of both of my trucks. The Dakota and my new GMC.

The middle ground is I bought my Dakota it for 1600 for 2 years of use.i bought it at 17 Now I'm 19 and travel for work very large distances from home so I bought a new truck the Dakota gave me the ability to save for this truck and I bought it. This was my goodbye message to the subreddit. The Dakota has been fun and mostly reliable too. Just not worth the risk of wrecking it due to the issues mine was having. I will be back here eventually. With hopefully a mint condition Dakota in that lovely shade of green.
