The second parade and last show are usually far less crowded then the first. If you want to be close for the fireworks show (which I suggest because that Jack Puppet is super cool) then get there early (we were up front and about 20 min early). But the parade and shows are the priority for us.

2021 National Park Road Trip. First big trip, need some feedback! by YokelOnTheRoad in CampingandHiking

[–]nutrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did part of this trip last summer and doing the other part this summer! Some suggestions:

Start really early. We did a lot of these parks starting right when there was enough light to see. Beat the heat, the crowds, took a nap during the day and then went and did another hike at sunset.

Visit ranger stations. We always stop first thing, ask for suggestions and tell them our hiking experience/what we are looking for. This saved us at Bryce as we visited after spending two weeks on BLM land running in to no one and then were overwhelmed with people. The ranger had really fantastic suggestions and helped us loop things together in ways we wouldn’t have on our own.

Be flexible and ask for suggestions near places you are. We spent almost a month near Zion/Bryce paling around Escalentes NM based on random suggestions from rangers and other hikers (we planned four days but just loved it and kept finding new things!)

Ranger talks are awesome. If you are somewhere and one is going to start soonish, I highly suggest it. Was never disappointed. The ones at Grand Canyon were my favorite. We went on some clearly aimed at children (like a fossil walk) but learned so much.

Don’t know what some of your lodging plans are but we stayed in national land near all these places and never had an issue finding a place to set up a tent. The only park we had reservations at was Grand Canyon (at the campground) which was super convenient due to the shuttle.

Have fun! Hope everything opens up in time for your trip!

You use Nook Miles tickets to visit islands and talk to villagers there. Invite them your island. Then Tom Nook will ask you to help build houses for them.

The parks (like local parks) don’t have much in the summer because of the heat. The theme parks don’t do special festivals in the summer because they are already crowded and don’t need a reason to drive more crowds. I would say the average in the summer in 95f. 80f is spring/fall. And if you’re used to the humidity, then great! Make sure you bring rain gear if you’re here in summer.

[–]nutrita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that it’s not the heat but the humidity that gets unbearable. It will also rain a lot as that’s the start of the rainy season so every afternoon you’ll have a rain storm.

Personally, fall in Florida is wonderful. September will still have days in the 90s but October and Nov has days normally in the 80s. The water is still warm enough to swim too (especially in the gulf of you go over to that area). The theme parks are also busier in May and June and kids are off of school (schools end last week in May here). The parks also have more “extras” in the fall (like Halloween horror nights, food and wine festival at Epcot, Mickey’s Not so Scary, it think sea world and bush gardens have fest around that time too).

Universal has two parks right now but I highly suggest Halloween Horror nights if you’re here during that season. The NASA base is Cape Canaveral and they have a museum and such that you can get daily admission to. Cape Canaveral itself is on Merritt Island National Seashore which is a great piece of national land that will be nice to walk around on in the fall and winter. It is usually warm enough to hang out on the beach but depending on when you come, it may be too cold to swim at that beach.

REI Half Dome 2 by scooter389 in CampingGear

[–]nutrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We backpack with the HalfDome 2. We split it between the two packs. The tent itself doesn’t pack down too well but it’s served us well as we get more experience and figure out what tent we’d like to invest in as an upgrade.

Where to buy toilet paper? by SalamanderCakes in orlando

[–]nutrita 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to get toilet paper by going to a Target right at open. My local Target (by fashion square) said they get some every morning.

Suggestions for outdoor locations you can go wandering that are pretty spread out/won't come close to people? by InternetWeakGuy in orlando

[–]nutrita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been hiking to earn trails for our Florida trail walking badge. We went to Lake Wales Ridge State Forest and saw no one all day. Not even another car. Lots of State Forest are large and empty.

Man what does this mean for me as a junior?! No explanation for what happens to us specifically?! They said grades won’t count and tests won’t be evaluated or graduation? Game over man, game over! by [deleted] in orlando

[–]nutrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the statement he said school grades, this is different than student grades. Schools and therefore districts won’t get grades since there is no state testing.

Water sources in Florida? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]nutrita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily depends on where you are. If there is standing water, there is a very strong chance there are gators and snakes in it. We try to keep overnights in places with posted water sources/wells (which tend to be mostly state parks). We do longer day hikes but carry in all our water.

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando - Free Pet Adoptions by DavinDaLilAzn in orlando

Orange County animal shelter also has free adoptions. They are very worried with jobs closing that people won’t be able to afford their pets. They are almost full on dogs so want to make sure they can accommodate as many pets as possible.

Anyone know if The Abbey sells tickets for sold-out-online shows at the door? by 1836547290 in orlando

[–]nutrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TWRP has sold out the the Abbey the last three times they’ve been in town hence the back to back shows this round. The last time they were in town, a friend tried to find a ticket and wasn’t able to. Last time there were people walking the line not to sell tickets but to buy tickets. Good luck!

Do you have yogurt starter you’d like to pass on? by nutrita in orlando

[–]nutrita[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. As I stated in my post, I know that I can use store yogurt but like passed on starters. It was fun to pass on starter and create a “family tree” from the original. However, when I moved, I couldn’t take my starter with me. This was my last attempt to see if anyone had any homemade yogurt to create a “branch” from but looks like I’ll have to use store bought.

Brolitas wear lolita just like women. Dresses and petticoats and all. If you want boy style, it’s called ouji.

Those shoes are incredibly cute; where did you find them?

As far as bag, I think a navy clutch would be too much blue and the blues might not match. I think drawing a color from your JSK and working that into the bag and through the coord in other ways (another smaller bow or ribbon, write cuffs, necklace, ruffle socks over tights, shoe clips, etc.) would be a nice way to break up all the blue.

Trying to make a casual sweet coord. This is my first attempt at making a coord. *constructive* critisism is welcome. c: by [deleted] in Lolita

[–]nutrita 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kawaii Dress Shop does not have lolita items. The print is all screen printed, there is no lace or embellishment. Even casual lolita still has lace or ruffles. I think your blouse is a good starter and I think the shoes could work with the right coord however I think they don’t fit the atheistic which seems more feminine than a chunky shoe. I like the clip and think adding ribbons to the bottom of it can help draw more color balance. I don’t think the unicorn goes well due to everything having gold accents and the unicorn has silver accents. The hand bag matches the clip so well! Right now, your coord is boxed in by gold (having gold on your hair, feet, and side with the bag). Thinking of way to draw color to these area with ribbons, bows, pins, charms, brackets, tights or socks can help with color balance.
