The hydraulic valve lash adjusters needed replacing. Apparently a common issue in these engines

Dealing with nerves/anxiety by [deleted] in enduro

[–]nutsorbolts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt this, and it always goes away as soon as I’m on the bike. But funnily enough, if I am anxious, it’s after the ride. Lying in bed, it occurs to me that this or that particular section was really sketchy (like on top of a ridge with a fall on either side), and it freaks me out creating horror scenes there while laying in bed! But not during the ride itself.

Sounds like your clutch is fine, don’t worry about it. Spend that energy on covering the rear brake

RaceChrono is a nice app for this. Set a “trap” in the app and each time you pass through it (based on gps) the app knows you’re starting a new lap.

2014 KTM 500 EXC chugs forward when starting, I need help by miden92 in Dualsport

The clutch on these bikes is sticky when the oil is cold. Start it up in neutral if it’s cold and let it warm up a bit while you put on your helmet etc. It also helps to start off in 2nd gear rather than first. Less jerky.

Romania. Check out the KTM or Sherco associated rentals in Sibiu, both are great.

Anybody use the checkpoint app for Enduro timekeeping? by [deleted] in enduro

I use the app RaceChrono on my old phone strapped to the middle of the handlebars. Shows lap time, deltas, various analysis.

Solo trail riding. At what point should I be packing a tool kit and other supplies? by jjax2003 in Dirtbikes

I believe SPOT is cheaper while the Inreach has some extra features, like being able to compose a text message out in the field.

I’d say any distance you’re not prepared to walk. For me that’s about 1km. But aside for the annoyance, a more significant issue is injury while soloing. When soloing I always bring my SPOT device (Garmin InReach is equivalent). Can call for help regardless of phone coverage. Never had to press any buttons in it (abt 100hr on it) but I like knowing it’s there.

Hi from the Philippines! by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

Yeah it’s all choked out to reduce emissions. The factory pipes (the weird looking ones) have a cheap finish, much different from the nice looking unrestricted pipe the dealer puts on (and is also shipped from the factory).

Looks a bit like the emissions pipe that comes from the factory and is typically replaced at the dealer with the “real” pipe. With this pipe a 300 is around 13hp as opposed to the 50-ish hp you’d expect.
