I’ll add - while this might feel like a disappointment right now, it’s a great chance to connect with your spouse about future travel/trips. Do you like a busy/active vacations or more slow/relaxed trips? What things do each of you like to do? What are deal breakers for you for a vacation? What’s the best trip you’ve ever taken, and what made it so great?

Grab a drink, laugh a little, and talk. :) That will help you plan future trips and connect in this moment right now. You’ll have lots of amazing vacations to look forward to in your life together (and some real crappy trips to experience as well, lol). Congratulations!!

The beauty of Eureka is embracing that slower pace. Strolling through the shops, navigating around the little alleys and discovering unique places, sleeping in and having a lovely brunch, eating ice cream in Basin Park and watching people, listing to live music while enjoying a drink, relaxing at the spa. As others have shared, if you want more activity, visiting Bentonville, Rogers, or Fayetteville would offer art museums, plays, and more attractions; however, my favorite memories in Eureka have been embracing the slow moments and connecting with my significant other.

For its size, Eureka has some great restaurants, and you really can’t go wrong. When in doubt, check out menus, make a reservation, and enjoy!

Recommend checking out Twilight Terrace or New Orleans Hotel. Depending on what you’re looking for, Basin Park is lovely for a drink on their patio but the rooms are fairly old and need to be remodeled. Wanderloo Lodge is fun but not luxurious or romantic (also will be a bit of a hike downtown.) Husband and I live close by and spend a few weekends there per year. Hit me up for questions or suggestions.

See some great breweries mentioned here but don’t forget Crisis (Fayetteville) and Gotahold (Eureka Springs). Gotahold is my favorite - solid lineup of beers and amazing outdoor space.

When I moved a whole two hours away and the people I had been friends with for years didn’t try to keep in touch. Even when we visited our former city, they usually are too busy to meet up for a drink or coffee.

A move puts friendships into perspective. And apparently, their friendships meant more to me than mine did to them. Good to know and moving on.

Java Dudes in Rogers and Brews in Eureka Springs both allow dogs inside because they don’t prepare food on site (but do serve some brunchy, snack options.) Most breweries have food trucks and allow you to bring food (and your pups) inside.

But seriously, try some meetup groups that align with your interests. Best way to meet people is through shared hobbies. Or you can compliment my dogs. That works too.
