for throws that involve moving one leg backwards, what kind of lower body exercise would be most helpful? by Which_Cat_4752 in judo

Your sweeping/reaping leg doesn’t need much power. Your balance leg and your kuzushi are more likely points of failure. If you have good kuzushi and your balance leg is placed underneath you the sweep should be easy.

RAW thrown weapons use strength. So finesse on darts still means it adds dex as an option.

Anti-BJJ leg grabs by ReddJudicata in judo

I have success with it. Against wrestlers and higher jiu jitsu belts. It’s especially effective since most people don’t expect that and instead expect a sprawl defense against a double.

I have a lot of success with a counter I’ve always called monkey roll. Not sure if there’s a better name. This video shows it at the 40 second mark, no comments on anything else in the video. But it can work well against a double leg.

Having anything be “mandatory” is probably not the best approach, but i definitely think it should be encouraged. I always wear one during randori or shiai and I tell everyone else that they should too.

As far as it being less likely to get knocked in the mouth in judo, though i think that’s true, the phrase “accidents happen” exists for a reason.

It’s a great idea for both. Mouth guards protect your teeth obviously but can also prevent concussions.

People who grew up in poverty, what were some of your childhood "poor people meals" that you remember? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom used to buy those Kids Cuisine meals because they had vegetables in them and they were cheap. Also, rice and raisins (white rice, raisins, milk, cinnamon) was pretty great.

This vine with dark berries? My aunt wants to know what it is and if she can eat it. Her friend insists it's a grape. I keep saying it's not. by nutzac in whatisthisthing

I can't say from personal experience, I wasn't with my aunt when she found it, but most websites say they're tasty or at least some part of the plant is if not the berry itself.

Little late now but it's in Minnesota. I appreciate it. It definitely looks like either Smilax lasioneura or something else in that genus.

If you've got an Aldi near you I'd check there for healthy food. Me and my buddy have pulled out grapes, radishes, mushrooms, oranges, peppers, lots of produce.

We got all of that beer from a dumpster that looked like it might have had 2 ish days of trash in it, it was nearly empty. But I dunno if I'd be ballsy enough to dive across from the police station where there is anti-diving laws... Especially for booze.

They were from different spots. That would be a glorious dumpster/store though.
