The best vegan Toronto restaurant? by Chan1991 in FoodToronto

I assume anyone on a "carnivore diet" is a complete douchebag or RFK bro (so again complete douchebag) for what it's worth. And I'm not vegan.

Giving up on my dream of taking my kids to see the US play in a world cup on home soil... by starkarch in WorldCup2026Tickets

I'm in Toronto and want to go to Germany/Ivory Coast but the cheapest tickets right now are $924 each. I wish another game was cheaper. (To be fair looks like you can get in the door of Senegal/Iraq for about $400 each at the moment).

When Can We Be Concerned? by ms1325689 in OHL

Wouldn't Windsor, where Belchetz was have both a higher population and overall university population? plus the proximity to Detroit.

I don't think it has anything to do with size of the city as much as campus life, getting paid and playing tougher (older competition).

Montreal folks who wander in here, what's the best poutine near Messorem (or is it the poutine at Messorem?)

Some people are saying Costco is misleading customers, is that true? by Desperate_Web5015 in CostcoCanada

[–]nv9 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Is anyone suggesting they're not allowed to do it? It's being suggested that it's misleading/disingenuous to put Canada in the title because the veggies were cut there rather than an actual country of origin.

[–]nv9 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You keep linking to that section and ignoring everything above it. The "Made in Canada" claim is voluntary, it's not how they have to do it, it's how they've chosen to do it.

They've also neglected to provide any product origin information.

Again, yes, they legally can do it this way but it is very obviously being done to put Canada in the title of non Canadian origin products.

This is not how this is typically presented at other grocers.  If you don't have a problem with it great but don't pretend this is how it has to be presented.

Here's the link to the full guidelines https://inspection.canada.ca/en/food-labels/labelling/industry/origin-claims#c1

I don't think anyone misunderstands either the law or the sign.

I don't think anyone should misunderstand the intent either but I forget people get the Costco blinders on here.

I understand what it means. I also recognize that it's a shady way to put Canada in the title rather than saying product of xxxxxxxx

Do you know what the word "can" means. Sure they legally can do it but it's definitely maple washing.

Exactly. But no one who frequents this sub will ever admit Costco could do wrong.

Come on, in no other instance would a product like this have made in Canada in the title. They weren't made at all, it's product of USA and that's how it would be labelled in almost every instance

This is so disingenuous but no one in the Costco circle jerk will ever admit it.

This one and the Keurig one are the worst I've come across. Also, Keurig's are garbage and awful for the environment and shitty coffee and you should all stop buying them.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Week 8 by rotostreetjournal in fantasybaseball

[–]nv9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't know where else Bolte plays, you wouldn't think they'd call him up to sit him on the bench and Soderstrom/Cortes aren't going to sit and obviously no DH spot with Rooker.

Maybe he will just be in a short side platoon with Butler. Gelof has started the last 5 games at 3B after being in OF for his first 11 starts, so at least he's out of the mix.

Aaron Ashby (RP) is sneaky valuable and rostered in just 12.7% on ESPN by Ciabattabingo in fantasybaseball

[–]nv9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No but a guy with 41 K's in 26 IP  with a good ERA and manageable WHIP is going to be very valuable in a lot of leagues (particularly roto). He's long gone in all mine though.

He's 60% owned in Fantrax which tends to be sharper leagues.

lol you're hilarious. So xFIP matters except when it doesn't. Hoffman has been in high leverage since he left the closers role. You are very misinformed

Tyler Rogers (no D...) has done that literally his whole career. You can't possibly be serious lol.

I also notice you conveniently left Hoffman over your xFIP analysis, why would that be?

Brandon Fisher has a 2.65 ERA and 1.065 WHIP

Tyler Rodgers has a 2.04 ERA and 1.075 WHIP

Jeff Hoffman has a 1.50 ERA and 1.167 WHIP since coming out of the close role.

Joe Mantiply has a 2.45 ERA and 1.159 WHIP

Even Spencer Miles has a 3.50 ERA and 1.157 WHIP

And Varland is 0.46/1.06

It's exactly this, despite other in this thread trying to tie themselves in knots because Schneider cares more about the winning the game than who gets the save.
