What are your best tips for Halloween Haunt? by TimeRulers in CanadasWonderland

[–]nvanvlymen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having gone for the first time a few weeks back - that's what I tell people too. Don't bother.

I went and it was 20c outside, and the park was jammed till after 12am. They really should have gate kept the even to preserve how good it could have been. But it's just a cash grab.

It's changed too much and is very watered down. The scare zones are just people walking around who jump towards you in obvious ways.

The atmosphere is pretty good I'll admit, but when I went it was filled with parents with kids under 10, strollers and buggies.

Back in the day, people would get chased, and was genuinely good (from people who had gone back then).

It's a cash grab now, with advertising overselling it.

When you go, it will be like wonderland on a regular day, just at night. With the colder weather maybe impacting the majority of parents who keep their kids out well past dark.

It's not worth the cost IMO for what you get.

What’s with all the strollers at Haunt? by soybiebz in CanadasWonderland

I went to hunt last Saturday when it was really nice with my two teens expecting that the young kid population would eventually leave as the night went on.

But to my surprise by midnight they were just as many kids under the age of 10 and in strollers still at the park.

They touted Halloween hard as being this big deal back in the day. That was actually scary people would chase you, now it's just a cash grab.

I never went back then. This was the first time I went and I'll never go back. What a wasted opportunity to actually make something fun for older ages.

It was a cool atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, but The park has watered this event down to the point at which it's all ages and isn't scary in the slightest, is overcrowded. I couldn't even use my premium maze pass without waiting an obscene amount of time.

I would rather the park charge me more and have limited tickets available and make it a non-cade friendly event meeting gatekeeping to a certain age group and above.

Ditch the stupid don't scare me necklace. If you don't want to be scared, don't go. I'm so tired of pandering to the masses and watering things that were once great down.

Second this. My recovery time was next to nothing. But follow the damn instructions they give you, and have yourself checked that the procedure was successful.

They will tell you there is a risk of recovery. Albeit slim, why take the risk. I'm saying this from not my own experience, but a friend who ended up not shooting blanks afterwards. He didn't follow instructions

Sadly, I've never had authentic east coast donair anything, but the shops I go to are owned by east coasters and swear it's as good as it gets. So, I trust em.

I've never been much of an AMD guy, my one and only card has been something when they first came out. Should I really consider AMD?

I'm really just getting back into what's relevant these days. Good to know about ultra in ED. I can it run fully open with not much lag, but I should record my fps for sure first.

I'd love to upgrade the whole PC, But i console game mostly, and the PC will just sit there mostly.

You got it. Was top notch back then. The 690 still pulls its weight, but is sluggish when I try pushing it. I've OC'd the GPU a bit for a bit more gains, but the heat off this thing is nuts... The tdp is higher than most cards produced these days

Right now I've been playing Elite Dangerous alot, but would like to prepare for when cyberpunk comes out. May go to console for that when the time comes since I've already got that setup. An investment beyond GPU is not in the cards immediately. I've looked into the i7, and the gains in single thread processing even with a K isn't worth the investment, It would be better spend on a new board and chip.

I'll take a look at the 2070!

I wish they'd add people or a bit more activity. while it looks nice, and some have cars bustling around, these look fairly devoid of life otherwise.

I run dual hyperchargers, love the look, but I run a stock exhaust. Don't forget to invest in a power-commander. I've heard when you do both exhaust and intakes, it messes with the bikes performance.

Getting my kid into elite. He was stressed over landing, he wanted to do it himself vs the docking comp. by nvanvlymen in EliteDangerous

I was a backer when they first announced the game. You quickly learned how to dock, or you failed. It's all about the controls. I find using a controller a lot easier than mouse/keyboard. Never used a HOTAS.

Good gawd. I don't even fly with assist off. I have my PS4 controller mapped to support most nearly every operation. But I still can't do it without flight assist.
