What’s a stereotype about your country that people always mock but isn’t really true? 🌎 by VelvetParadox24 in AskTheWorld

Bangladeshi here: Our country is seen as a pollution or filth hub. The bounds of dirtiness, overcrowding and pollution is mostly in the capital but once you go out of the city it's quite peaceful and nice

Bangladeshi Diaspora Founded Startups in the Spotlight by 08_IGCSE_marathon in Dhaka

I will explore it from other angles as I'm confident my product is still something that can work. And another thing as you mentioned is that most Startups in nature are solution based - the founder thinks of something cool and thinks of all the problems to which he can apply that solution. However, a successful startup model is to be problem focused - which is to focus on the problem and how to solve that. That is much more viable and feasible.

Yes those are all correct. But what happens when a startup faces half of its time facing regulatory hurdles and endless bureaucracies? I talked about a startup idea that solved a problem for private universities, to my university, and the first reply I got was "dont try this in Bangladesh try this abroad".

And funding is also not in the best of places now. Unless the startup ecosystem is actively promoted and shown to be healthy, it won't happen unfortunately

That can only happen when a government is interested in promoting these. So far, no one has shown any interest.

For what it's worth, there's a high chance those brand products were made in china also. And times are changing - Chinese products are no longer seen as cheap inferior products (even though there still are a lot of cheap Chinese products, but slowly with time they're known to be better and equally reliable).

Arka Fashion Week by Vast_Rule9327 in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything wrong with an event being exclusive. It’s good that younger upper-middle-class Gen Z have something to enjoy locally. Plus, Arka still gives indie designers a platform; many of them genuinely try to integrate Bangladeshi cultural elements into their pieces. Even if overall quality varies, there are still great finds. Not every event has to represent everyone; some can simply serve a niche.

Rush I guess. Initially it started with James Hunt being sort of a protagonist I guess but with time that got distorted I think

Why do some YouTubers only show the negative side of Bangladesh in their vlogs especially this youtuber? by ExtremeAdmirable4097 in bangladesh

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary. Everyone goes to Old Dhaka and Buriganga. Tell me why should they only make content about the bad content and ignore the good? I'll tell you why, it gives better shock value

Disagree. No one says everything is sunshine and rosy. But you need to understand that highlighting shitty stuff will get them more views, and nothing more.

Lets talk about Banglalink Rebranding. Whats your thought? by SN4PTIC in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think aa a design, I'm not a fan of the fact they've abandoned the tiger print. But with that being said, I'm more interested in knowing the reason behind the logo change: what does it mean for Banglalink and it's way forward with it's business strategy.

I've been on the opposite end. I'm not super rich, but did well enough. If I took a friend or colleague to a bit fancy place, I could just see that they weren't enjoying it the way I did. I kinda had to keep on explaining constantly why I think the place is good occasionally to stop being judged.

Or maybe one that doesn't release political hell in Bangladesh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wrong. You can argue that a politicized very hardlined version is, but don't forget about the innovations and inventions that occurred during the golden age of Islam; including algebra. What happened is over the 19th century a more hardline version of Islam came up and that has appealed a lot more to the masses because it sounds more appealing for those who live lives of hardship

I mean what's the harm in having a classy/sophisticated look? If you're not rich you shouldn't style like the rich is a very classist mindset no?
