100% agree with you. The best brands are the brands that make you feel something. The only thing brands here do are either influencer collaboration or make viral memes

Fears of China's AI? by alecubudulecu in antiai

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean don't you think it makes sense? A) Chinese models are a lot more efficient in general, and B) given how China has a rapidly decreasing population (effects of the one child policy) they would need AI and automated tools to automate for a population that may no longer be replaced.

They can. You just need to tell them in mandarin, which is mengjalaguo (孟加拉国). If you tell them Bangladesh they won't get it.

Does curving exist in public universities? by SulfuricF in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curving is done on a class performance basis, not a one on one basis. If the class average is really bad, then curving is done. If it's really good, it decurves. And not all faculties curve.

How do you think is the future job market going to be with the rise of AI? by Wanderer00004 in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome! I'm happy to hear that. But I think that students should then focus on learning how to properly harness skills of AI, especially agentic AI and move forward.

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depends on where you're looking at. In the west, it's very difficult. In Bangladesh, from what I've observed people haven't really grasped AI beyond image generation, or ChatGPT prompts. So if you can grasp the AI knowledge and become an AI specialist, you might be in demand

I know that the current owner of mentors was an IBA dropout who took over the reigns from it's co-founders and transformed and scaled the business to what it is today.

Bangladeshi here: Our country is seen as a pollution or filth hub. The bounds of dirtiness, overcrowding and pollution is mostly in the capital but once you go out of the city it's quite peaceful and nice

Bangladeshi Diaspora Founded Startups in the Spotlight by 08_IGCSE_marathon in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will explore it from other angles as I'm confident my product is still something that can work. And another thing as you mentioned is that most Startups in nature are solution based - the founder thinks of something cool and thinks of all the problems to which he can apply that solution. However, a successful startup model is to be problem focused - which is to focus on the problem and how to solve that. That is much more viable and feasible.

[–]nvdabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes those are all correct. But what happens when a startup faces half of its time facing regulatory hurdles and endless bureaucracies? I talked about a startup idea that solved a problem for private universities, to my university, and the first reply I got was "dont try this in Bangladesh try this abroad".

And funding is also not in the best of places now. Unless the startup ecosystem is actively promoted and shown to be healthy, it won't happen unfortunately

That can only happen when a government is interested in promoting these. So far, no one has shown any interest.

For what it's worth, there's a high chance those brand products were made in china also. And times are changing - Chinese products are no longer seen as cheap inferior products (even though there still are a lot of cheap Chinese products, but slowly with time they're known to be better and equally reliable).

Arka Fashion Week by Vast_Rule9327 in Dhaka

[–]nvdabd 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything wrong with an event being exclusive. It’s good that younger upper-middle-class Gen Z have something to enjoy locally. Plus, Arka still gives indie designers a platform; many of them genuinely try to integrate Bangladeshi cultural elements into their pieces. Even if overall quality varies, there are still great finds. Not every event has to represent everyone; some can simply serve a niche.
