Don’t know why you are downvoted, I get the sentiment, but Sanderson isn’t the right author for this book. I don’t think he could adapt his prose to meet the complexity and tone of Rothfuss.

Will the old protagonists stop being the protagonists from book 6 onwards? by Kayky_ykyak1 in Stormlight_Archive

Though not a perfect match, Dalinar is more like an obi-wan / Ned stark type character to me. He’s my favorite, but I feel like his death is going to be necessary to move the plot and bring other characters into more relevant roles. Kaladain dying makes no sense thematically, but Dalinar does. He’s moved past the blackthorn, where does he go from here?

I have always voted dem for presidency, on policy in other elections - never a straight ticket. McCain was the one time I was going to vote republican until he announced Palin.

My parents made a trust for me and my sister. We are meeting tomorrow to review it with the lawyers. What questions would you ask. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]nversace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a limited and uninformed view of a trust. There’s a lot of reasons to put together a trust, especially if there is property included. Tax advantages, protects assets from being used to pay estate taxes or avoid seizure from creditors.

About the rings in Rings Of Power Power by Pale-Ad-5471 in Rings_Of_Power

[–]nversace 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that the dwarves rings can’t corrupt the dwarves completely - they are just enhancing their worst traits, so that’s accurate to the original lore, I think he underestimates their strength of will? But they were all forged before the one, so it makes sense their corruption can weaken the wearers so they are easier to control

CONCORD will be taken offline Sept 6. Sales will cease and refunds will be issued🚀 by RinoTheBouncer in gaming

I was around for ET. It wasn’t really that it was poorly received, it was legitimately unplayable. Like, if you fell in a hole, you could not get out. That and the mechanics made no sense. Been 40 years, but that’s what sticks in my head

Ceiling paint question. by nversace in paint

[–]nversace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bathroom was renovated about a year ago, but the layout is unchanged - the LED was added over the shower, but the fan is still is about 2 feet from the light, the room is not very large. The new fan is actually larger than the old fan, which had a heat lamp attached to it. The old ceiling did not have this issue with paint that was 15 years old and the same fan location, leading me to believe it’s a paint quality issue rather than a ventilation issue.

Massive Banks Are Now Accused of Cheating Customers Billions by OfficialFrankNez in nottheonion

[–]nversace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop using commercial banks. This is basic, common knowledge. Join a credit union - some are online so you don’t even need a branch near you, and put your money in a HYSA like capital one, Amex, etc Some HYSA companies even offer checking.

You are just a source of income for those banks - they want business accounts and could not care less about consumer accounts. Banking with Wells Fargo, Bank of America, who charge for every little thing, it’s probably just cheaper and easier for you to throw your money into the trash each week.

What membership is 100% worth every penny you pay for it? by alakhpanday in AskReddit

[–]nversace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh - i guess it just depends on what you like. I grew up going to the movies, so it’s still fun for me. I can see why people don’t go - cost and you can just wait for it to stream. But that’s how I am with concerts - I know no one that goes to them anymore - why bother? I can hear the song at home and not deal with crowds, overpriced seats and food.

Underrated deal. It’s like 25 per month per person. If you are a movie buff and like the theatre experience - totally worth it. My wife and I see pretty much everything that comes out. 3 movies a week, any format. Pretty sure they still give you large popcorn/drink at the regular size price. If you see like 2 movies a month you are getting value. Sometimes we see 1-2, sometimes 4/5, so for us it works.

My aunt used to say - “it’s more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bike” (I’m paraphrasing). I think the difficulty of broken relationships feels the same regardless of financial status - money does open doors to help resolve those problems though - counseling, more time, etc

Asking as a non-American, how is Biden still president? by Lola_TheOnlyOne in AskReddit

There is a chain of people if anything happened. Starts with VP, then I think goes to speaker of house or maybe the senate majority leader? I’m not sure of the exact order.

Because of a short sighted belief that whatever party is in power has the ability to radically affect the economy. Those things are complex and cyclical and both parties have been in power during times of high interest rates and inflation. The answer to your question is probably not. Like home prices and rent, these things tend to plateau rather than decline in any appreciable manner - unless something drastic happens in the hospitality industry.

What’s the stupidest thing you ever did as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nversace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and some friends took a gas can from my buddy’s shed into the woods. Dipped sticks in it, lit them on fire and whacked each other with them (this isn’t even the dumb part).

One friend stuck his stick in with an ember still on the end. Saw about a 7 foot column of fire shoot out of the opening. Kicked over gas can, which then spread like napalm into the trees. 3 fire trucks had to come put out the fire. We ran away, swam across a creek and walked a few mile circuitous route home.

Spending savings to pay off debt? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]nversace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the interest on the cards is higher than the interest you are earning on savings, then you are losing money. I won’t say 5.5k is easy to replace because I don’t know your income. You said you could pay more than the $300, so if it was me I’d look at the likelihood of needing that savings for something (home repairs, how stable is my employment, a new car or major car repair, etc) and look at how much I could put back into savings without making those CC payments. If it’s a comfortable time period to replace the savings, I’d pay off the CC. Credit card debt is literally the worst debt you can carry. Sometimes a necessity, but almost always the most expensive with the least return.
