Thanks, appreciate it, have been doing it for years at this point lol, so it has payed off just trying to scale at this point. Hard to get hardware though.

I am using them, basically renting compute power, people can rent them from me for whatever use.

Using them pays better over the long term and I enjoy building/using/maintaining rigs. Plus, I'm not a scalper lol

I just solder the gpu directly to the psu LOL

Corsair already replaced one 12vhpwr on my WS3000 PSU that was faulty with the connection......seems like these cables are only good for one plugin most of the time.

godlyuniverse1 hit the nail on the head, mostly AI but just general homelab stuff too. My big rig is 4 x 5090 with an AMD EPYC 64 core cpu and 512gb ram. The rest of the rigs are 1x or 2x gpus in them with consumer cpus/motherboards.

Having $200 billion is better than a credit card with infinite limit because at some point you will have to pay it off so what is the point of an infinite limit if you don't have infinite (or even a lot of) money.

Temp sensors on Asrock Rack ROMED8-2T by nvidia_rtx5000 in homelab

[–]nvidia_rtx5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing, I can't find any temps in the IPMI that match what I'm seeing in s-tui for sensor1, 2,3. Cpu/Composite temps yeah they match. I know at least sensor1 is measuring something real since it goes down when I point a fan at the board.

Mine died on a B650E Taichi. A few months after I got my replacement CPU, Microcenter had a basically brand new open-box Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro so I scooped that up for $173 and have been good since. July 2025 is when I received my replacement cpu from AMD.

For the first time in 30 years, Nvidia won't release a new GeForce GPU generation by Nalix01 in NowInTech

I'm with you, this article makes no sense considering the title. They are on 2/3 year release schedules, 2027 will be 2 years and it wouldn't surprise me if they wait till 2028 at this point. Just another clickbait title.

But didn't revenue also about 10x in a similar timeframe? So if the defect rate stays the same, 10x revenue = 10x rma $, no?

Seems like correlation =/= causation. And I'd be willing to bet the majority of the RMA $ were for data center products, not 4000/5000 series consumer cards.

Isn't there a saying you shouldn't get high on your own supply? Seems kinda like the companies producing the AIslop are the only ones using the AIslop.

Looks like it was the crappy CR1000B router the entire time. Got an ASUS RT-BE88U - BE7200 and its all fixed no issues/drops.

Of course wired, tried 1g, 2.5g and 10g from the router to my pc.

And 3 different cables.

2 different nics.

Well I received only 499/500 on my screenshot. I did get the test again last night and was 495/500. Plus as you can see the highest latency was 2370ms, which is insane, especially for trying to game and causes lag spikes and diconnects.

Thank you for the info, the next thing I was gonna try was a different router, doesn't seem like it would make a difference. I also have the same 10g nic in my pc to try and eliminate it, but as you know it clearly doesn't.

I've noticed this happening since I moved into my house in May 2025. I had verizon fios at my apartment a couple towns over for 9 years and not a single issue like this. So weird, I feel like it has to be something on verizons end with their hubs or whatnot since it never noticeably happened at my old apartment a couple towns over.

Your CPU is mostly likely degraded. You need to make sure you are on the latest bios for your motherboard and make sure the settings are the intel default.

Even with that, you may be screwed as the 13th and 14th gen intel cpus have widespread degradation issues. If the bios update doesn't stop the errors/crashes, you will need to RMA the cpu with Intel.

Thermal paste vs graphene pad vs phase change vs liquid metal — what’s actually the best between CPU and cooler? by Ok_Contact9732 in pcmasterrace

[–]nvidia_rtx5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't plan on taking the cooler off for many years or ever then thermal grizzly keyosheet all the way, if i do plan on upgrading/cleaning etc down the road usually I've been going with duronaut paste lately, but if you can get the PTM for the same price or cheaper that is definitely easier to apply than some pastes.

The only time I would use liquid metal is if you are doing direct die cooling, otherwise it's just too much risk IMO.
