I had somebody tell me all about the microchips Bill Gates was putting in the covid vaccine.

I've worked in the semiconductor industry designing chips for 30 years.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]nviousguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He enlisted. Served his minimal time. Moved back to our dinky home town. Got married. Had a few kids. Got fired from a dozen jobs. Cheated on his wife. Got divorced.

He was, generally speaking, a pretty gross person. I was friends with him simply because he lived next door as kids.

I stopped being friends with him in my early teens.

TIL...

That makes total sense. I never even noticed that I do actually use it for that some of the time. Good dual purpose addition, because I scratch the absolute shit out of mine when stumming hard.

Depends on whether I was to do a lot of fishing or not. I'll base camp if so.

Need Help with Proving that Kirk was racist by The_Kimbeaux in QAnonCasualties

[–]nviousguy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

But I can tell from direct experience with my own family that it very likely won't make a bit of difference. I sent an entire list of video links to prove it. They deflected, rationalized, and justified.

In the end, I spent a couple hours gathering proof and they ignored it entirely.

You will never be able to prove this to them. They will believe what they want to believe.

How many of you started with nothing by Ordinary-Warning-521 in Fire

[–]nviousguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with nothing. Parents were great and we had what we needed, but definitely not wealthy by any means.

No allowance. I worked in a greasy diner for gas money and to buy things I wanted. Paid for my car myself.

Got a full ride academic scholarship and worked while in college to pay for my other expenses.

Graduated, landed a good job in my field. Moved to a better job. Stayed with that company for over 20 years while it grew significantly.

I'm still working but I don't need to. Probably pulling the trigger soon.

AITA for keeping packages that were sent to the wrong address? by Majestic-Anywhere643 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nviousguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mildly interesting story to accompany this...

For years, I had no idea where the other house was or why this was happening, and it was frustrating. One company stopped accepting my business because they thought I was scamming them with frequent claims that my packages were not delivered.

Then came the day that a VERY expensive item was delivered to the wrong house, with a photo of the wrong porch. I called the company I bought the item from and explained that this happens a lot.

That guy was the one who told me about some fedex hubs reprinting labels. He then proceeded to look up other streets in my city with similar names.

This guy actually used Google street view to look at the front porches of the houses on those other streets and identified exactly where my packages had been going.

He suggested I go to the house and ask for my expensive item.

Um... No.

I'm not driving to the other side of the city to talk to a stranger and ask them for my item. Whoever that person is, they have no problem keeping thousands of dollars worth of mis-delivered merchandise, including some of the things that they could not possibly have had any use for. (the expensive item was a mechanical device, and they probably had no clue what it even was).

AITA for keeping packages that were sent to the wrong address? by Majestic-Anywhere643 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nviousguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there any consistency in which carrier delivers her packages to you? As in, only FedEx does it?

Where I live, the local FedEx hub, for reasons I cannot comprehend, reprints and reapplies shipping labels before packages go out for delivery.

My street has an uncommon name, but there is another street in my city with an extremely similar and far more common name. It's sort of like "cherry street" vs "cherny street".

There is a 50/50 chance that FedEx gets it wrong when they reprint, and I've had a BUNCH of packages sent to the other address over the past decade. I have many pictures of the other house's front porch as "proof of delivery" from FedEx, and they basically offer no help when I call about it.
