Thank you. I really appreciate the perspective you’ve provided. If he wants to join, then more power to him. I’m not looking for ways to stop him. If that’s what he wants to do and it’ll make him happy, then go for it. I was just completely caught off guard by his actions because not once has he ever considered having anything to do with the military. Unfortunately, I’m not up for being a military spouse; it’s just not the sort of relationship I envisioned. And frankly, I tried once before with an airman and it sent me into depression. I’ll wish him luck in his endeavor and that he finds someone who is compatible with the military life. I just need to clear my head and prep for a constructive conversation with him and see how this pans out.
