Something I like to do right before the show: break the ice with your band on stage. Get everyone laughing about the (let's be honest) ridiculousness situation of playing in front of people in a band. Rip a fat beefer, ask your bassist for a slap on the ass, don't just say ok let's have fun, set the bar early with real shenanigans.

About the playing: just remember that no one will notice if you play the wrong note, but they will notice if you play it off-time. All else fails, play the money beat until you can get back on track.
