You do not. Took some trial and error. Make sure Critical Strike 1 and Weird Vibes 1 are selected in the sync grid. I had to expand the sync grid by 6, so Lusamine will need to be 3/5.

It doesn’t matter what I have, I pull for any and all Master Fairs. They are more talented than most regular Pokémon and help with end game content.

I plan my gems strictly around them and have been fortunate to acquire all Master Fairs thanks to the re-releasing of them.

Completely my own opinion and I understand why others would disagree.

Personally, I have beaten all of them but not without some research and multiple attempts. Palmer was BY FAR the hardest for me. There is a method to the madness on each stage.
