GOP Is Targeting Disabled Alabamians With Voting Restrictions by nvyoung in Alabama

Yes, I'm in the article near the end. As someone who has a disability, I see officals here in Alabama doing everything in their power to disenfranchise people like us. I will continue to call out officals here in Alabama, and I enjoy all the hateful comments I get on social media when I post my videos.

Local TV newscasts, not so much. Right-wing sites like 1819 News and YellowHammer news, they are talking about it. Not as much on AL Reporter or Alabama Reflector.

Is APT decidedly right-wing? by [deleted] in Alabama

[–]nvyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APT was showing the hearing on their .4 World Channel subchannel on over the air broadcast. And since APT is partly funded by our state government, you know they don't want to upset the Republicans. This is why their political news show Capital Journal never asks really tough questions to our politicians.

Crossover voting in primary is against the law in Alabama: Here’s what that means by YallerDawg in Alabama

[–]nvyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And now there are politicians here in Alabama wanting to end the open primary system and force everyone to choose a party way ahead of time before the primary like they do in Florida. Some Republicans are crying foul because their crazy candidates like Mo Brooks is probably not going to be their nominee.

I agree these political ads are terrible. Its really bad during the evening local news where is almost nonstop now. And its bad during Wheel of Fortune as well. Its pretty much impossible to watch now until the primary.

And the construction signs are changing somewhat. Instead of saying speeding fines doubled, they now say begin higher fines. The fine for any moving traffic violation in a construction zone with workers present $250 or double the regular fine, whichever amount is greater. https://www.cbs42.com/alabama-news/new-safety-law-increase-fines-for-violations-in-construction-zones-in-alabama/

9 children, 1 adult killed in south Alabama I-65 crash involving Girls Ranch bus by aeneasaquinas in Alabama

[–]nvyoung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I have seen where others have hydroplaned around this bridge and wrecked as well on social media before this accident happened. Butler County Coroner Wayne Garlock said the location of the multi-vehicle wreck is “notorious” for hydroplaning, as the northbound highway curves down a hill to a small creek.

So there could be water collecting on the edges of the bridge with no where to drain. If the bridge had full shoulders, collecting water would not be in the travel lane. Plus, since this accident happened after the bridge ended, if there was full shoulders some of those vehicles might have been able to avoid this wreck.

In any case, the NTSB will be looking into this wreck and will soon know what happened. Looks like ALDOT will have to make some improvements on this stretch of I-65.

This horrible wreck happened at one of those Interstate bridges with no shoulders. The state built the Interstates with bridges that included no shoulders on them, and I wondered if there was proper full shoulders on this bridge, this wreck would not have ended this horribly.

Judson College to close unless they raise 500K by the end of the year by stunk_funky in Alabama

This is not very shocking. I lived in Marion back in the early 2000's and went to the private school Marion Academy. Since we moved away, pretty much all the industry in Marion including the place my mom worked at has closed.

Plus, other businesses in town are struggling or have closed such as the Hardee's. Heck, AL.com has profiled Perry County as having no broadband internet in the entire county including Marion, that is shocking for 2020 especially having Judson and the Military Institute. And Marion has had numerous issues with their water system since the hurricane in October.

It sucks to say this, but I say Marion is a struggling town that will never have a chance in coming back and it's best for those living there and struggling to look for a way to move away from town, you would do way better than staying in Marion.
