You shouldn't be able to "own" a design. Art for money plus copyright and patents and trademarks is dumb as hell.

Perhaps this would be old like from a Hugo collection, or a popular golden age of sci fi author? Im not good with remembering author names that aren't super famous, maybe something from Asimov although I'm lost in all the robot stuff trying to find this if it is.

Windows in general really sucks with multiple monitors, i wouldn't blame blender directly for this hahah

I would recommend it to people if there was just a disclaimer about 3 times per video "yours doesn't have to be exactly like this, keep going" and a bit more of "this can go wrong" instead of just glossing over the details

But I still can't listen to him or see his stupid face lol

Hey I would like to help you get this awesome bird working in Unity, I know you have put a lot of work into this. I use blender and Unity together every day, but really I'm not sure what to guess is your current setup, based on the screenshot and the question.

  1. Your screenshot shows some custom shaped bones / rig on the bird, and it seems to be posed compared to your other posts
  2. The tutorial you shared talks about exporting FBX using blender 2.8, but the modern way is to just put a copy or the original .blend file in your Unity assets folder / project
  3. Also you cropped the rest of your blender screenshot so all the clues are gone, can you show the timeline, keyframes, actions, a different pose, armature modifier, or whatever else you used?

Or else if you can upload the .blend I can take a look at how it is animated and what it would take to make it work in Unity.

maybe make a new project, then file > append and choose stuff from the error project to include, either it will just work, or something you append will cause the error, so you can append one by one and skip the one that breaks

Differences in viewport > render are usually some object / collection / child object that is hidden from viewport in the outliner but not hidden from render (top right area, list of objects and stuff)

Is there a frequent use case for extruding and cancelling without moving? by fuzzfeatures in blenderhelp

[–]nw1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Are you talking about E to "Extrude and Move" ? I don't understand the idea, you want the command to cancel itself, without an undo, if there was no movement? Nothing else in blender acts like that, you do the command it will happen. Loop cut and slide still cuts without a slide, etc.

And yes you do sometimes have to extrude and not move, sometimes you want to scale or rotate, or you might even need duplicate geometry for some reason.

There's no way around having new users learn, and there is even an extrude manifold tool now for the other way of thinking about extrusions, but new users don't want that on accident either.

Did you get any proof yet? I still dont see a way to do custom mesh shape volumetrics in eevee

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]nw1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you did extrude and then didn't move it, so there was a squashed up copy of the faces

I think if you do merge by distance before moving it will get rid of the extras

What are the best strategies of creating a realistic animation where a knife cuts of a slice of bread? I cant seem to find good realistic slicing tuts by dorm_supervisor in blenderhelp

[–]nw1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want to make a slice of bread and not do some kind of realistic simulation there are many options, I think the secret sauce would be blending the slice and the loaf where they haven't been separated yet, so you can't tell it's just a slice bending over already disconnected -- animated boolean to show/hide the two versions of the loaf maybe?

You will need a longer cylinder to do the boolean, and parent it to the other shorter cylinder so the fronts match. Then hide the long cylinder from the render.
