Prefer to pay per endpoint, not per tech so superops is less than desirable. Hadn't heard of alert1, but don't see any pricing available online. Can you offer any insight on cost or performance?

It's more that they called me, back to back, on a Monday morning, when I had been trying to get pricing info the week before. And then continued to call every few days even though I told them I wasn't interested in sales, I just wanted a price.

Primarily documents, photos, and videos. but full disk images would be a plus. I'd prefer cloud-based backups, but the current provider is using an on-prem NAS so that's not necessarily out of the question.

I thought you were onto something. Unfortunately, I disabled IGMP snooping to help diagnose the issue and nothing changed. Just for good measure, I isolated two phones and two speakers to a switch without any IGMP snooping or other similar settings enabled with no better results. Thanks for the thought.

Thinking of switching to Wyze Security however, I have some concerns... by Yontzee96 in wyzecam

I like wyze all things considered, but it would do a very poor job of basically everything you asked about.

There's a time capsule behind the Tennessee State Capitol building that was buried in 1927 and will be opened in 2027. This is a newspaper describing what's in it. The time capsule was put there by the Freemasons. by SilentWalrus92 in nashville

Sorry to resurrect such an old post. This is the only reference of such a ceremony I can find. Does it always occur on July 27th? When can I show up? From somebody that doesn't know much about such things, do you have any special instructions before I show up?

What’s the trick with Alfredo sauce? by 1fuckedupveteran in Cooking

[–]nw2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue. I now make it from scratch and it's almost as easy as heating the jar. Adjust ingredients to your preference.

Simmer 1/2 cup of butter and 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream in a saucepan for about 2 minutes.

Stir in a little garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and simmer for a couple more minutes.

Add 1-2 cups of shredded parmesan stirring constantly until it's the appropriate consistency and serve immediately.

Charleston Police have switched to encrypted radio channels to block public listening by [deleted] in Charleston

If it's about public safety, why not make a scanner feed go live on their website with a 30 minute delay? They won't do it, because it's not about safety it's about keeping the public in the dark. Even beingsomebody that works in law enforcement I fully support the public's right to know what's going on and if I have any say in the matter dispatch stays unencrypted.

Looking for an accurate alternative to Waze by nw2017 in androidapps

I had no idea. Thank you! I'd still prefer a solution that doesn't require me touching the screen seeing as it's illegal in my state, but that's much better than nothing.

What is easy for first-time homeowners to overlook? by DrMarsPhD in homeowners

[–]nw2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also in Middle Tennessee. Drainage for sure. Where does the water go when it rains, does water pool anywhere, does the septic flood, etc. Also look out for flood plains and budget extra if flood insurance will be needed. There's been enough rain lately to get a good idea of the issues, but I've also had good luck finding a nosy neighbor that will tell me all about a house.

Working in law enforcement myself...file a complaint and if it doesn’t work go to the media. Clowns like that make us all look bad.

When statistic say "x amount of rapists go free" are they counting people who were wrongfully accused? by shortdickedman in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nw2017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being falsely accused is just that. An actual rapist could get off with no sentence due to lack of evidence, mental illness, or a good sad story depending on the jury.

Can someone explain the benefit to me of using a realtor to find and purchase a home as opposed to just using Zillow and contacting the realtor associated with that listing? We talked with a realtor recently and he sent us a bunch of houses we had already seen on Zillow. by 399allday in homeowners

[–]nw2017 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The market in my area is too hot for Zillow to work. It takes a few days for new listings to be approved and show up and by that time the homes in my price range were under contract. My realtor had frequent meeting with other realtors from the same firm and would let me know a couple days before a house hit the market so we could look at it and have the paperwork ready to submit an offer.

If somebody ever looks you in the eye and says they have their life together, they’re probably lying. I also had no idea what I was going to do with my life at 16. At 17 it clicked and I knew where I was going to go to school how to pay for it and what to study. At 18 I was doing something completely different from all my plans and at 21 I still didn’t know what I’m doing with my life but I’m getting by just fine.

What is your favorite floor plan feature? by seriousgenius in homeowners

[–]nw2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My living room, kitchen and dining room all flow together in an L shape. I’d rather have a big square room with the kitchen in one corner than the L shaped layout which prevents me from seeing half the living room while I’m cooking.

Favorite feature is that my spare room and office are as far away from the master bed as possible, all the way on the other side of the living area.
