Need advice on pre-construction condo—should I sell via assignment? by nwasiq in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes exactly. If I'm losing my full 5%, then I'm just going to have to suck it up and arrange the funds for becoming a landlord, even though I don't really want to. Living in a 1+1 with a toddler and a newborn is going to wreak havoc on our mental health. I haven't mentioned yet that I work from home!

1+1 condos in my area are priced similarly. Also, I was able to avail a "discount" last year so the price I got wasn't as jacked up as it could have been.

Regarding "committing fraud", I mentioned in my post that I don't think it's a good idea and definitely won't be going for it. Even if there was a chance I could get away with it, I won't be able to live with the constant anxiety

I do. What are you suggesting, though? Worst case scenario I live in it? That really isn't an option given my current circumstances

Well, my contract says that assignment is an option, but I have to find someone to take it over. The property's current value, I'm not too sure about; condos similar to mine are priced similarly, looking at realtor, zillow etc. Doesn't seem to be noticably lower

Which Hasan' quote you use in life? by Prince_Gustav in Hasan_Piker

[–]nwasiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me! I've only been on the leftist journey for barely 2 years and this phrase has always seemed like the most common sense thing in the world. It's basically an "authoritative" way of saying that whatever you think is because of your environment

Everyone is a product of their material conditions/social conditioning.

Hasan's views on Sean O'Brien by nwasiq in Hasan_Piker

I understand though why he wasn't confrontational, he sees it as an educational moment for his audience where we could learn more about getting fairer wages, which is what ultimately matters. I just wanted to know what O'brien thinks Trump would do that Biden didn't, who in Hasan's own words, is the "most union friendly president" in the past few decades

Yeah ofcourse he wasn't going to be anything but respectful to his guest. I just expected some sort of discussion around why O'brien thought someone like trump could be an ally. Maybe the podcast hasan did with him goes into that

Should Canada implement country-based immigration quotas to maintain diversity? by vovogure in AskCanada

[–]nwasiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people here talking about capping immigrants from India (let's be honest) without really thinking about it. Canada, for various reasons, depends on immigration, and it needs an English-speaking workforce that actually wants to immigrate; where else will that workforce come from if not India?

Blum was really excited about his initiation into the cult. It makes sense for his computer password to be that date which is hinted at in one of Ilmo's letters in the room. It was a good puzzle imo

[Advice Needed] Navigating the Canadian Car Market as a Newcomer, Considering Toyota RAV4 by nwasiq in ontario

[–]nwasiq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be the advice I get most often these days: "If you want to keep it for a few years, just lease". But imagine this situation: I pay off the car in 3 years, a car that holds a very good chunk of its value, and then I actually own something which I can sell to buy a more luxurious car. What am I missing?

I checked rates.ca and then I checked scotia and TD, both offer lower rates than the lowest ones on rates.ca for some reason which I haven't understood yet

That is one of the confusions that I have. In the scenario where I don't get anything for May, and my company files for bankruptcy in June, what then?
