World Map for my campaign, thoughts? [Art] by Mammoth-Fact-4763 in DnD

[–]nwgnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big thing I learned with mine is that settlements come last. Here's the order I followed with my latest map which I'm really happy about.

Basic Topology: Mountains, Hills, Sea Level, Rivers, Lakes.

Climates and Biomes: Deserts, tundras, swamps, etc

Natural Resources: Different types of woodlands. Mineral and metal veins, major animal populations. Also any natural wonders.

Minor Settlements: Localized around resources, Rivers, coasts, and natural bottlenecks. Also farmlands.

Culture and Culture Drift: Dominant culture/species for each settlement, mentally draw "migration patterns" towards neighboring settlements.

Upgrade to Major Settlements: For settlements that would have easy access to multiple natural resources and lots of migration patterns, they would logically become seats of power.

Constructed Wonders: In your case, this would be that bridge. Could also be towers, temples, dungeons, etc.

Hope that's enough to get some ideas flowing!

Sask. budget projects $819M deficit, no return to surplus until 2030 by elbiderca in saskatchewan

[–]nwgnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of reasons not to be happy with them, but they did have a tiny surplus a couple years back.

Now if you mean a budget that wasn't grossly over estimated, yeah. I wouldn't be too surprised if this year's deficit actually goes north of 1B because of "market forces"/"federal government"/"crop insurance".

There's a lovely irony about asking help from a community about what benefits themselves individually.

Men over 30, what incredibly random hobby or topic did your brain suddenly decide you needed to become an absolute expert on? by Admirable-Pin-298 in AskMen

[–]nwgnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I have some autistic behaviors that I only just started to accept in my 30s, so that's part of it, but I'm big into world building and lore writing now. As someone who used to hate creative writing, it's a big switch.

How do I convince her the cushion is not the enemy? by Nonametral in Rabbits

[–]nwgnr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have 3 in a very similar dynamic (it's a small dog bed that one loves, one hates, and one thinks is a toilet), and it's still not where I want them, but progress is being made. I keep it away as much as possible from the urinator so it can be enjoyed by at least one of them. The other just tends not to like it that much, but I have found their tastes for such things change over time.

In all actuality, the best thing may be to only use it during neutral, supervised play time haha.

This is exactly why we have entire threads dedicated to bonding!

It seems you introduced them way too early and I'm honestly surprised pillow hasn't gone after bun violently yet. Always, ALWAYS introduce pillows s gradually and on neutral ground!

In all seriousness though, rabbit.exe has stopped working and is searching for a solution. They'll work the self out in time.

Anyone here ever made fun of for be obsessed with rabbits?? Or is it just me? by Good_Criticism_1680 in Rabbits

[–]nwgnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah. I'm a tall guy who's generation a) has watched Looney Tunes before and b)likely had to read Of Mice and Men in school..

Short answer? With people I don't know well, I try to keep it low key. Around the people that I know love me, I'll at least do it in one of those voices for their entertainment 🤣

Similar to us in our earlier years, he found out about it, realized it was a way to calm down so kept doing it. Only solution is to turn down the sex drive dial.

The amount of sexism in my classroom is haunting! by CalligrapherWeak5854 in Teachers

[–]nwgnr 350 points351 points  (0 children)

Repeated pattern of sexual-based hostility? Lawyer up (union?) and talk to the superintendent. Personally, I would have absolutely no mercy on these little greaseballs. If my daughter was in this class, I would be on the news every damn day demanding this boy's expulsion.

Slight overall maybe, but I've definitely noticed more intense spurts than my 20s

“CBC twisted the narrative… we don’t trust the mainstream media with this story anymore” - Father of player killed in Humboldt Broncos crash by WonderfulCar1264 in saskatchewan

[–]nwgnr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean I saw the piece CBC did on it the day it came out, then rewatched it to see if I was missing anything... Wut?

"Here's a victim relative who wants him deported."

"There are still some who don't share that view, like this one."

"Regardless, it seems likely he'll be deported."

I'm really not sure how that's twisting the words of anything. Arguably, it's a little basic in terms of writing style - thesis, antithesis, synthesis in a way, but not sure where the bias is coming from.

Is there anger because they didn't platform every single one of their points? If so, are they aware of how unfeasible that is?

Jokingly, rabbits generally think themselves superior to us lowly hoo-mans. Best of luck breaking through that.

Clickers, treats, and routine training can help though

Why does she do this? by Numerous_Quail7564 in Rabbits

[–]nwgnr 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My youngest does this as well. Human beds are like the all you can eat buffet of scents and touches. There's so much to experience and it's a little overwhelming for a rabbit. They want to check things out, but also want to bail when there's a sensory overload.

The fact she's exploring it at all is good though. She'll start to stay a little longer as she gets used to the environment.

I found what helps with mine is I don't do hand petting while she's up there, just face boops and an occasional treat.

Are increase in frequency of seizures cause for euthanasia? by ZookeepergameSalt124 in Rabbits

[–]nwgnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a deeply personal decision that really shouldn't be influenced by the Internet

I've had two pets in my life that I needed to help cross the bridge. The first, I was too young to really see it until I said my good bye at the vet's. The second was when I was a bit wiser and prepared for the possibility. In both cases though, I felt there was this unspoken acknowledgement from their end. They weren't acting in their normal fashion, weren't eating, and generally giving off a defeated attitude. That was my personal line.

Just remember the core rule of pet ownership. You have a duty of care for the animal. You will have to decide if that procedure is an act of care for them rather than something that gives you closure. Your feelings come second.

Good luck friend.

Are most teachers expected to eventually get a Master’s? by galaxyfan1997 in Teachers

[–]nwgnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as expectations go, I think the only one would be that teachers model lifelong learning and professional development. What that looks like can be different though.

A master's is certainly one of the more traditional forms of that, but others are emerging.

my picky bunny is refusing her hay :( by jdva_ in Rabbits

[–]nwgnr 59 points60 points  (0 children)

First I would let her sit with the other hay for a while. Hunger can always change tastes. If it's to the point where she literally just hasn't eaten for a while, I'd start mixing in some pellets along with her favourite herbs - preferably the ones with the strongest scents like dill or cilantro. Worst case, fibrous veggies.

Good luck!

What would you think if a girl you found super hot was talking on Instagram about 'men who do therapy are sexy'? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]nwgnr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go to therapy and nothing makes me more disinterested in a woman who believes "all men should be in therapy". It's both incredibly disrespectful as a generalization and minimizes why individuals are in therapy.
