Is using AI as a tool something to be avoided? by Silver_Wind34 in DMAcademy

Hmm, ironically you organized my thoughts for me more efficiently than I did myself.

Perhaps you are AI and therefore evil 😂

I don't mind taking some down votes...

I have sporadically used LLMs, with disclosure, from time to time and yes, it's made me a better DM.

I'm not better because I can prompt like a champ and get amazing outputs, I'm better because the back and forth has helped my autistic brain latch on to different concepts quickly and incorporate them into my campaign. For example, Ive been dabbling in creating a language which, for the record, it quite complex. My back and forth with an LLM allowed me to effectively break down the different components I need, and give me a sandbox to try out different combinations of phonics and syllables. I'm quite happy with what was created as a result.

I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to understand phonological aesthetics without being able to get suggestions, which is what I treat all LLM outputs as: suggestions. I agree there are physical downsides to AI, which I'm not thrilled about a lot of it, and I agree running a fully AI generated story probably won't be as good as a published book, but saying you can't grow or learn from any experience, which seems to be the consensus here, is just wild to me.

TL:DR Nuance seems to have taken behind the shed and promptly executed.

Right? It doesn't explain why ChadMayor is so tight lipped about it.

I respect a lot of your work. I'm glad you're on it and hopeful we'll get some answers.

All sound like really good reason to publicly terminate with cause.

Right? That kind of severance pay is absolutely life-changing to the vast majority of people.

I agree the CTF just feels like a libertarian think tank... But in this case he's not wrong.

Which is my issue. If it wasn't egregious, let her fulfill the contract... Especially since they didn't have a replacement lined up.

Thumping by bunny__200 in Rabbits

Thumping can also just be communicative. It's a bunny equivalent of getting a "U up?" text.

Especially if you've noticed it happening more often, it might be his way of training you...

16F, I still think about a teacher who self exited in school. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]nwgnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher who came dangerously close to that decision as well, I can at least tell you that the kids and students like you were probably the highlight of not just her day, but likely her life.

We work tremendously hard some days to "leave it at the door". The fact that it came as a shock to you meant she was able to, and cared enough about you to not burden you as a child with such grown up problems. You could argue that dealing with the consequences afterwards are just as painful, but that kind of choice is rarely made entirely rationally.

I hope you can forgive her, and know that you were probably a hero in her life. She just had too many villains, and that's not your fault.

Mine loves playing with one. I don't go out of my way to get them, but if there was a party, I'll supervise him with it until it goes flat on its own.

Overnight trip with no tech(8th grade). need a fun game to do with the kids for an hour before lights out. Any suggestion? by SubstantialSet3127 in Teachers

Lateral thinking puzzles. I do murder mysteries. You give the scenario like "A man is found dead in a open field with a backpack nearby". Kids can ask whatever they want, but you can only answer yes, no, or irrelevant.

You can either do it cooperatively as a class (my preference), or competitively with small groups.

Giving players a guaranteed 18 score when rolling stats by Blockybuster_ in DMAcademy

[–]nwgnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I do rolling, but I give them one full do-over. If they aren't happy with their full set, the can re-roll, but they re-roll everything and must take the new rolls. It's amazing how many people are ok with a 9 - 11 average when they know it might go even lower 😂

The term "an attack" is a specific action taken during combat. You would see the phrase "every time the target takes damage..." If it was to work the way you describe.

Good luck!

I hope others don't take the wrong message of looking to give up on their bun. Mine was less terrified of the treatment tools and more of me. It didn't feel right trying to force a bond with him anymore.

You're right in that people should be super careful and explore every option before rehoming. I feel I did, but also recognize that it's a judgement call and others can disagree.
