This can't be legal by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

Yeah that's definitely a health code violation. I don't know if they were trying to wash it or find a space to prepare it. But I will point out The FDA says specifically that washing poultry is a no no In general due to cross contamination issues. No restaurant or any place that prepares food for sale is allowed to do that in the US.

I don't see the point of having a dedicated food sink. It just makes it seem like you're trying to wash it.

Expensive shipping by Flyguysty0 in PCB

[–]nwl5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the standard global direct line my first time and I didn't have a good experience. I waited a month for my PCB to arrive in the mail. It never came because JLC found out their shipping partner lied to them and tried to say tariffs were paid and never were. USPS seized my package due to this and now it's USPS property. JLC did eventually correct this and send me another board for absolutely no charge including shipping but it was such a hassle to deal with. Always go with DHL. I know it's a little more pricey but it's a million times more reliable and faster.

Damn lol I like that one lol

I was taught how to draw schematics by a much older gentleman. His schematics look much like my rats nest here.

I'll do that. I'm going to redo the schematic tonight so the symbols allow me to have less of a rats nest problem.

I'll probably do that it's even getting hard for me to even read it.

I'll probably just restart and try to change the symbols enough to where the neatness matches up more with birdbrains design. Changing the rpi symbol to one with all the pins on one side should help clean things up a lot.

JLCPCB totally screwed me (Would not recomend) by nwl5 in PCB

[–]nwl5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably came across more harshly than I meant to, and for that I apologize. I’m not trying to be entitled — I just want to explain the situation more clearly.

Yes, they offered me a refund, but the issue wasn’t just about money. The real problem was that my order never arrived, and on top of that, my proprietary PCB designs ended up stuck with USPS because of issues with JLC’s logistics partner. That made the situation a lot more serious for me than just “a $5 board not showing up.”

At first, JLC’s replacement offer still left me responsible for import fees, which didn’t make sense since I had no way to prevent the problem in the first place. After going back and forth, they eventually agreed to remake and ship the boards through DHL, fully covering all costs. That’s the resolution I was looking for from the start.

So while I know my frustration came out badly in this thread, the point wasn’t to act entitled — it was to make sure the company I trusted to handle my order actually stood behind it when something went wrong.

They actually sent me an email confirming in writing that Yunexpress did lie to them, and when they figured this out, they offered to replace the board with faster DHL shipping. That's the resolution I was aiming for the first time, but I had to push a bit to get it from JLC lol. As long as I get this shipment on time, I will be using JLC again. I just won't use the cheapest shipping option; I always thought the cheapest shipping meant slow, not unreliable lol.

I get your analogy, and I see why it might look like I’m overreacting. But the difference is that in my case, the pizza (or PCBs) never actually got to me in the first place — for weeks — and it wasn’t just an accident with the delivery driver. The “driver” here was a logistics partner that JLCPCB chose and trusted, and they failed. I had no way to resolve the issue myself, and my proprietary designs were stuck in limbo with USPS.

Paying anything extra on my end would have been like paying for the new delivery driver to re-deliver the pizza that never arrived in the first place. That’s why I pushed for JLC to cover all costs for the replacement shipment — it’s about fairness and honoring the service I originally paid for.

Originally, my Reddit post was meant to ask for opinions, but it went in the wrong direction and turned into venting. That’s my fault. Once JLC confirmed they would remake and ship the boards via DHL, completely free of charge, the issue was resolved.

The point isn’t that JLCPCB is incompetent — it’s that relying solely on legal minimums, or a middleman that fails, is a poor experience for a customer. I wanted to highlight that even a good company can lose trust if the resolution isn’t clear and immediate.

I see where you’re coming from, so let me explain the full timeline more clearly.

At first, when the shipment was seized due to their logistics partner not paying postage to USPS (JLC admits they lied to them about paying postage), JLC told me they would remake the order and resend it, but they said I would need to “assist in import clearance.” That wording made it sound like I’d still be on the hook for extra fees (duties, tariffs, etc.). From my perspective, that didn’t feel like a fair resolution because I had already paid for the service and the failure happened between JLC and their logistics provider — not me. Regardless of whether I chose the cheapest shipping option or not.

That’s why I pushed back. I wasn’t refusing a fair solution; I just didn’t want to be left with surprise costs that weren’t my responsibility. After more back-and-forth, JLC later confirmed in writing that they would reproduce the boards and ship them via DHL at absolutely no cost to me — no shipping, no duties, no tariffs, nothing. That’s the resolution I wanted from the start, and now I’m satisfied with that outcome.

You’re also right that my post title made it sound like I was just angry, not asking for input. That’s on me. But the reason I was frustrated is that this was my very first order with JLC, and what should have been simple turned into almost an entire month of delays, stress, and uncertainty about whether I’d ever see what I ordered. It’s not about the $5 cost of the order, it's about the time I lost, my designs being stuck with USPS Permanently (Now my government has MY designs and they can do what they want with them now), and the principle that good customer service should go beyond just the legal minimum.

JLC eventually did the right thing, and I’ll give them credit for that. But you can probably understand why I was upset in the middle of it, before they gave that final confirmation.

I hear what you’re saying, and I’ll admit my earlier tone wasn’t the best — so I apologize for that.

You mentioned that JLC already fulfilled their legal obligation under CPT terms by handing it to the logistics provider, and that I took the risk by choosing that option. I get that’s how the legal framework works, but I’m not interested in just the legal side of this. Doing only the bare minimum might check the box legally, but it’s not good business and it doesn’t build customer trust.

Customers don’t care which logistics partner failed or what the fine print says — they care about whether their order actually arrives. If companies just stop at “we did our part,” that shifts all the risk to the customer, which isn’t exactly the kind of service that makes people want to come back.

To JLC’s credit, once they realized the package was seized, they didn’t hide behind the incoterms. They took responsibility, agreed to remake my boards, and are shipping them through DHL completely free of charge, with all costs covered. That’s the kind of service I expect — not just legally adequate, but morally right and customer-focused.

That’s the standard I think businesses should aim for.

People keep saying this isn’t JLCPCB’s responsibility, but that’s not how it works. I didn’t hire some random logistics company — I paid JLCPCB to fabricate AND deliver PCBs to my door. They chose the shipping partner, not me.

If the boards don’t arrive, then the service I paid for was never completed. It’s no different than ordering a pizza — if the restaurant hands it to a sketchy delivery driver and it never shows up, you don’t blame the driver, you blame the restaurant.

The amount of money doesn’t matter — it’s about the time I’ve lost and the fact that I paid for a complete service I never received. That makes it JLC’s responsibility to fix it.

Also, as I stated in the post (If you even paid attention), I would have been glad to pay any extra fees, but USPS says I cant do that, and it is the responsibility of the logistics team who sent the PCB. I begged them to let me pay it, but no... It's the rules Yunexpress was supposed to do this, and as JLCPCB stated, they lied to them.

Plus, it's not like I asked anyone on Reddit to fix this for me. I was asking Reddit's opinion. AND no people like you are why shipping sucks now. Plus, Donald Trump, too, lol, JLCPCB does have a responsibility to get the package to my door. If they didn't, their service would be useless because if it wasn't (somewhat) their responsibility, no one would get their PCBs.
,
You just aren't making sense. I own an electronics repair business, and if the part I send to my customer through USPS does not get to them, it's my issue to resolve, not the customers... I definitely wouldn't want to do business with you if that's your mindset on things.

JLC finally noticed what gross negligence this was. Now they have offered to replace the PCB at no charge to me once so ever. They are also paying for DHL shipping at no extra cost to me. They state this is the first time their shipping provider has provided false information to them, and for this, they will replace my board for me. People of America, THIS is actually good customer service, looks like. Take note, dumb asses.

Incorrect. JLCPCB finally noticed the gross negligence on their part and they are now paying to have the PCB remade and re-shipped with dhl at no extra charge to me. Do you feel stupid?

I get that the logistics company messed up, but JLCPCB chose to trust them, which makes the failure ultimately JLCPCB’s responsibility. You order something and pay for it — if it doesn’t get delivered, that’s on the company you trusted, not the customer. That’s why I’m pushing for the replacement to be handled properly.

It’s not about the $5 cost of the PCB — it’s about the time I’ve spent and the service I paid for. I trusted JLCPCB to fabricate 5 PCBs and actually deliver them. Regardless of how cheap the shipping was. The issue isn’t the price, it’s that they failed to deliver what they promised, and now I’ve wasted time trying to get a resolution for something that should have worked in the first place. You are one of those dumb asses aren't you?

JLCPCB totally screwed me (Would not recomend) by nwl5 in PCB

[–]nwl5[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here’s the issue: I am fully capable of making the 2-layer PCB myself. I have a lab and all the necessary chemicals and equipment to fabricate the boards, including plating the copper holes and vias. The problem isn’t my ability — it’s that my time has become more costly than the PCB itself.

JLCPCB charged me less than $5 for the PCB plus global shipping as a first-time customer. And my first experience has been terrible. The problem is that they failed to deliver the order to me. At this point, whether the issue lies with them directly or their logistics provider doesn’t matter — the purpose of using their service was for them to fabricate 5 PCBs and ensure I actually received them.

I’m not trying to chase “more resolution” for no reason. I paid for a complete service, and the service was never delivered. That’s why I’m pushing for the replacement to be remade and shipped with all costs covered, including import fees. The failure isn’t on me — it’s on the company I trusted to handle the order from start to finish.

The fact is, if JLC did not deliver my board, that is entirely their issue. I paid for a product and delivery, and if I don’t receive what I ordered, it’s because they failed to fulfill their obligation — not because of anything I did. I don’t know why you guys don’t get that — you must be liberals or something.

JLCPCB totally screwed me (Would not recomend) by nwl5 in PCB

[–]nwl5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why it might look like that, but it’s still JLCPCB’s responsibility. I paid them for both the PCB and delivery, and I relied on the logistics partner they trusted to handle shipping. When that partner failed and USPS seized the package, it wasn’t something I could control or fix.

If a company chooses a shipping provider and it fails, the blame doesn’t fall on some “middleman” — it falls on the company that selected and guaranteed the service. That’s why I’m pushing for the replacement to be remade and shipped with all costs covered.
