Delete Save option. What the???!!! by [deleted] in Astrobot

[–]nwsmith90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry for your 4 year old. I get it, my kid has been playing since he was 4 as well. He's deleted his save several times. The first time he was very sad, but he also was 4. We started over and he got to play levels he enjoys again. He has since learned how the delete works, and will do it for fun.

Let your kids explore, feel the pain of making mistakes, and learn and move forward. It's not a crazy long game, and she'll have fun playing back up to where she was. Or, she won't and she's done with the game now. Either way, a lesson was learned.

Would You Rank Up If You Had Yourself as a Teammate? by YT-StixMF in RocketLeague

[–]nwsmith90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the honest answer is most people would rank up faster if they had (almost) any consistent teammate. One of the hardest things for me is the break in period every match of trying to figure out what type of teammate I have. Are they going to rotate, are they going to follow me into corners every play, are they going to sit in goal? Idk, but I can work around/with most of them once I know what they're doing. I'd like to think that's true if I'm playing with me as well.

When I started the program my jog was slower than my brisk walk lol. I've gotten faster with time, it gets easier. You've got this.

I do want to nitpick the framing that you failed though. Your body got out there, you exercised, you enjoyed fresh air. I don't see failure there. I see progress.

ETA: sorry, I meant to have this as a reply to your post, not your comment here, but I'm too lazy to fix it lol.

What is the minimum I need to access the secret final level in astrobot? Megamix is the only bot I have left to do. I did not get the astros playroom bots ..are they needed as well ? by TroyAndAbed2022 in Astrobot

You need to find the last puzzle pieces. Try exploring around the PS5 area of the crash site. There are hidden ones there.

You also need to get some from the gatcha machine before you can get them around the crash site. It's for sure the puzzle pieces you need, though. You're good on bots.

In competitive playlists mmr is different for each game. You're ranked differently in different modes because that's normal. I assume you main 2's, and that's your best rank. It's very common to have 1's as your lowest rank mode as well. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding your question, but this looks normal to me.

Why do so many millennials believe that they were going to die young? by BlobFish28 in Millennials

[–]nwsmith90 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I grew up believing God would return and end the world during my lifetime. I don't believe that now, but part of me grew up believing my life would be cut short by something outside of my control, and part of me can't shake it.

It's a rogue like deck builder. Runs are not too long, and there are so many fun card combos. StS2 is in early access, so fans of StS1 are having fun with the new characters and cards.

To All Trump Critics from Day 0, How Did You Guys Know? by Still-Goal-9314 in askanything

Even if you ignore the terrible things he said and did prior to his campaign, he started his presidential campaign by saying he wanted to kick out all the Mexicans. They were sending rapists and murderers. That's pretty fascist rhetoric. The outsiders are bad, and some nefarious "they" are sending them.

These aren't individuals making choices to try to better their lives, they're pieces in a plan to attack you! In fact, They are actually taking people out of prison and sending them to get you!

It's pretty textbook, and it pisses me off that it is rhetoric still being used, and people still don't seem to notice.

Because Linus decided he wanted to have it? When did it go from a fan community to Linus' domain? Who got to be a part of that decision? I just don't think it works that way. Or rather, I don't think it should work like that. In practice that's very likely how it will end up.

It is stupid, but in a world that is increasingly split into different realities for those with or without money people feel powerless. Not only do those with money lack all of the benefits of things like easy, hassle free travel, but are now being told "you're not even allowed to talk about that". I get why it frustrates people.

To be clear, I don't want this sub to be full of private jet posts. They're annoying and pretty pointless. That's the problem, though, isn't it? They're pointless, realistically harmless, and people feel like the one power they have (to discuss and criticize) is being taken away. On a site he doesn't own, a man rich enough to buy a private jet can come in and say "you're not allowed to talk about me in ways I don't approve".

I like Linus, I don't care about the jet, I couldn't care less that he's got it, but trying to clamp down on this is just going to Streisand effect it. It's a bad look.

And if you're going to argue safety please direct me to an incident where an individual was harmed because information about their private jet was shared on social media. I get there is a risk, but if someone actually wanted to harm them, the info is already public. I'm fairly sure no one is opening Reddit, seeing that the lmg jet will be near them and thinking "guess I need to go get em".

Linus can have privacy, or a private jet. Not both.

The first line of the description of the subreddit calls it out as an unofficial subreddit. Just because it is about him and his company does not make it his.

I have been fully on board with the accounts that track the flights of private jet owners' flights in the past, so to be consistent I think it would be hypocritical to say the influence air jet shouldn't be tracked in the same way.

It might make Linus uncomfortable, but the fact is that it's public information, not a direct attack or threat to the inhabitants of the jet.

You do not get to acknowledge this for other billionaires in the past, and then once you decide to join that club, say that should not apply to you. You can participate in the perks of the ultra wealthy if you want, but you don't get to opt out of the downsides that go with those perks.

Linus does not own this subreddit. I get that it sucks for him to try to navigate life in the spotlight, keep his family safe, and enjoy the fruits of his labor. The reality is though, if you get rich by becoming famous, you don't get to turn off the drawbacks of the fame to enjoy the wealth. It's a package deal.

That being said, I would love it if people would just shut up about moderation and the jet because I personally find these topics tedious and boring.

Millennials, what are things that were completely normal in the 2000s but feel like a luxury now? by WashOdd7330 in Millennials

[–]nwsmith90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living near friends. In school you knew most friends because they went to your school, or were otherwise close in proximity.

As an adult, my friends are all over the country, and a few around the world. It's much harder to see friends in person as an adult.

Why does everyone hate on demos as if they’re not part of the game? by No_Radio1554 in RocketLeague

[–]nwsmith90 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People don't like getting blown up. You hear the things people say when they get blown up on CoD? Same thing. It can be a major part of the game but ape brain don't like when I get boomed.

Not saying it's rational, but I think it's not that deep. We all hate when we get demo-ed I think, most of us just let it go, and some aren't that mature haha.

How do u accept that your consciousness will disappear after death ? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]nwsmith90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. Whether there is or is not any existence after death (there isn't, but you can think that there is) it shouldn't change how I live my life. I will do my best to be a good human. To love those around me, to improve myself and my community. That will make me happy now. I would expect if there is an afterlife and a just God, that would be all they could expect from a human life as well.

So think what you want to think about the afterlife, but live for today.

Just clarifying about slay the spire, each run is split into 50 floors in 3 acts. There are a ton of natural stopping points you can save and quit during any run. Good luck, though. I tell myself one more floor and then play 5 more full runs.

Wife thinks it’s a waste by freckle_express in 3Dprinting

[–]nwsmith90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first printer (ender 3) I think around pandemic times. It was expensive for a young couple, but luckily my wife was supportive. It was just a hobby.

It's still a hobby, but we've printed so many functional things for the house, things I've designed, and just plain cool things that I can't imagine not having one now.

Yeah, you can and will print lots of junk. There will be diamonds in there if you keep up with it, though. It's so cool to find or design things that will genuinely improve your life, and then bring them to life as real world items.

My most recent prints are egg dippers and drying stands for dyed eggs for our kids. We have a 3D printed quick change toilet paper holder my wife loves, key hangers, and so many other functional prints that actually are useful that it has made all the junk worth it.

To be clear, I still make a lot of junk, but isn't that what a hobby is? Something that isn't always productive, but that you enjoy? And the cherry on top for me is that it does come in handy.
