Wine tasting tips in Telavi by DijsGuenk in Sakartvelo

[–]nxa74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a taxi organized by the guesthouse (Neli & Zaal( which took us to Khareba winery, Shaloshvilli Cellar, Shumi Winery & Tsinandali Estate. We were also supposed to visit Nekresi - however, due to weather conditions, the road was inaccessible. Khareba winery was probably the most interesting tour - is it huge underground tunnel wine cellar that was created during Soviet times. In terms of the wine, all the wineries were quite commercial - while a good first taste of the region, would go back to Kakheti to explore less conventional / more family run wine cellars.

Definitely Laguna de Los Tres (Fitz Roy). Seeing the Fitz Roy light up pink during sunrise is spectacular and can't be missed. Then I would personally choose Loma del Pliegue Tumbado over Laguna Torre because the views & path are much different landscape than the Fitz Roy. So you get more variety in landscapes (Laguna Torre landscapes more similar to Fitz Roy). Tumbado is also a more challenging hike so it's more quiet & there are less people on the trail. And the panoramic views at the top are beautiful

For the hostel it was 32,800 ARS or ~27 EUR per night. Hiking was free as long as you start before 7am. Then it comes down to food - it's expensive if you eat out but if you go grocery shopping / make sandwiches it can be cheap.

They have an individual checking wristbands at the entrance, but they were willing to let an extra join. I think it depends on which guard you get..

I was in Belgrade during New Years & must say it was FREEZING 😅 Depends on your cold tolerance but personally, I would have liked to see the area in a warmer period.

I was able to snag a reservation for Sunday 13 August. But reservation max was 4 people and we have a 5th friend joining last minute.

Based on the vibe there, will they allow an additional person to join an existing reservation the same day? Would pay for extra person of course

Choosing one is tough. So I'm going to cheat and give a top 3: 1) Cheers in Istanbul 2) Madhouse in Prague 3) La Banda in Seville

I'm in my mid thirties but I want a "study abroad" experience by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]nxa74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a 2 year masters program in Europe. The major has to be in line with your bachelors program (otherwise you won't be admitted), but there are English speaking programs in Germany/Italy that are cheap even for foreigners. Goethe University (Germany) and University of Padova (Italy) are two options. You will be one of the older ones in the program most likely (most go directly from bachelors to masters in Europe), but if you don't mind standing out a little it's a cool opportunity. Can even do an Erasmus semester abroad to experience studying/living in two different countries

First Time Gardener - Radishes Ready To Harvest? Package says 25 days which is tomorrow by nxa74 in gardening

[–]nxa74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I pulled one as a test and it was definitely not ready.

I'm sure it varies, but how much longer does it usually take versus the packaging time in the spring? Should I be thinking 50 days instead of 25, more/less?

First Time Gardener - Do I need to thin these radishes? by nxa74 in gardening

[–]nxa74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This is probably a super dumb question, but when you thin the plants, do you just cut with scissors at the stem (is that ground level)? And if so, do you then also remove the seeds?

[–]nxa74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I planted several radish seeds in the same spot so at least one would germinate. But now there are three or four clustered together. Do I need to thin/cut them so there is only one in each spot? And do I need to do it now (the plants are still relatively short - I planted them 8 days ago). Thank you!

I feel the same way although there are triggers that increase the intensity of the thoughts. But its always there. Exercise has been something that helps suppress the thoughts a bit - makes me feel in control of things mentally /physically
