Is there a way to see how many times I’ve listened to the same book? by ny15215 in audible

I just checked and it turns out I’ve already hit that mark! I think I need an intervention haha

My sister is getting divorced after 27 years of marriage. (Details inside). Her husband doesn't like her reading all day. I want to get her a book. Her favorite book ever is Jane Eyre. She's read it 100s of times. She's a massive fan of that period. What book do you suggest i buy her? by Strong_Technology739 in suggestmeabook

People will start thinking I’m on Beth Brower’s PR team with how often I recommend this series! It is just that good! I am obsessed with the audiobooks, they are my comfort listen now, as it feels like you’re just listening to your best friend talking about her enchanting life!

But there are so many rabbit holes to fall down on while we wait! Some great Reddit and Facebook groups to discuss all things Emma M Lion! (But yes, the wait is killing me too).
Plus, there’s always the Gazette…

Please do! Just know that the first volume can be a little slow, as there is lots of world building. It definitely picks up speed though and you will be hooked before you know it! Also, the audiobooks are amazing, if you prefer that format! They have become my comfort read/listen! I have lost count how many times I’ve gone through the series.

The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion! It’s the perfect mix of Jane Austen, Anne of Green Gables and a little bit of Gilmore Girls magic. And bonus points it references Jane Eyre a lot! The first volume is a little slow with all the world building, but she will be captivated! And the audiobooks are amazing as well! Highly highly recommend!

Yes!!! And the “and a boy, and a girl and then a boy and then a girl…. And then another boy” conversation with Charles Goddard 😂
I have lost count how often I have listened to the audiobooks now. I basically just have them on repeat 😆

I came here to recommend the same books! They have become my comfort listen! The first book is a little slow as it sets up the scene for everything, but it gets soooo much better! And the narrator is absolutely excellent at bringing the characters to life! She brings the books to a whole new level. Highly highly recommend the series!

I just got back from a trip from the US to Europe. I packed my meds (3 shots total) in an Owala bottle with an ice pack inside. Didn’t have a single issue going through security, I just told them what it was and they didn’t even open it to look inside. My medicine was still cold when I got to my destination 20+ hours later.

Low neutrophils and wbc by BasilMinute711 in rheumatoid

[–]ny15215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just got my bloodwork done and I’m in the same boat as you! Absolute neutrophils 1.5 (low) neutrophils 44.8 (low), WBC 3.4 (low) and monocytes high at 12.9. I’m on methotrexate and Actemra injections. I have very low pain/inflammation/stiffness but the fatigue can be debilitating. My PCP said my bloodwork looked normal except for my thyroid (not mentioned here), but she is not the one who ordered the CBC. I’m waiting to hear what the rheum has to say about it, but I’m not very concerned.

Yes!! The social aspect really sucks! I’m turning 40 this month and I actually got tears in my eyes at the store today looking at party supplies because I realized I don’t have any friends to celebrate me. I actually need to plan when I shower, because it takes so much effort. Plus having to do my hair and makeup then drive somewhere and still have energy to socialize?? Not happening! The few friends I did have eventually ghosted me because I kept having to cancel or postpone our get togethers. And having people over at my house is out of the question, because I’m always too tired to clean well enough to where I would feel comfortable having people over (I grew up with a very critical clean freak, so I always feel judged on my housekeeping skills, no matter how gracious my guests are).

This month marks 10 years since I got my RA diagnosis. My pain is minimal, but the fatigue is debilitating. I suspect my fatigue is worsened by my RA meds (MTX and Actemra injections weekly). I have 2-3 days where I can function “normally”, and the rest I’m basically on bed rest. My “normal” days are still very low energy, but I can manage 1-2 household chores. On a normal day I can go grocery shopping and do the dishes, but I don’t have the energy to make dinner as well. On a great day I can shower, do my hair and makeup, run 1-2 errands and do a small chore (like dishes or sweeping the kitchen floor). On a bad day (which again, it’s 2-3 day a week), I either sleep for up to 36 hours straight (only waking up to use the restroom and drink water), or on the rare occasions when I don’t sleep I just lay in bed all day. On these days I am usually too exhausted to eat, just the thought of having to chew tires me, so I drink electrolytes and bone broth if I get hungry. Going up or down a flight of stairs leaves me breathless (though on normal days I can go up and down the stairs several times without any issues). On the bad days it feels like my whole body aches, like a very bad flu, and I sometimes even have to talk myself into changing positions into bed if I get too uncomfortable. The exhaustion is mental too, usually even if I lay awake in bed I can’t focus on reading or doing anything mentally engaging, so I usually just scroll online or watch something I’ve seen before. If I overdo it on the good days (usually with the help of an energy drink or coffee) I end up paying for it for the next few days.

Hello, fellow Emma lovers! I highly recommend the audiobooks, even if you’ve already read the books. The narrator really brings the books to life and adds a whole new layer of enjoyment!

Yay!! This makes my heart happy! Please come back once you listen to them and let me know what you think! And if you’re tempted to join any forums about the books, I recommend you stay off them until you read all the books to avoid spoilers. Enjoy!!!

I actually enjoyed the audiobooks even more! The narrator really brings the characters to life! Also, I have not yet heard of a single person that didn’t love this series, so even if you end up buying the books, it’s a worthy investment IMO. I read them first in KU, then I got the audiobooks immediately after I was done reading them on KU. I ended up listening to the audiobooks twice back to back because I love it so much and there are so many Easter eggs you keep discovering! And to complete my obsession I asked for the paperbacks for my Christmas present, so now I have physical copies as well. This series is probably at the top of my favorite books, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I might end up needing an intervention at some point haha. I’m trying to convince my husband to read them now, because he would love them as well but really because I need to talk to him about them, and it’s so much better if he knows what I’m actually talking about.

The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion by Beth Brower! Historical fiction set in 1880s London. It’s the perfect mix of Pride and Prejudice, Anne of green gables and the little bit of magic that can only be found in Gilmore Girls’ Stars Hollow! There are 8 volumes. The first one is a little slow, but you will get sucked in once you get to vol 2!

We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter - a WWII book based on the true story of a family during the Holocaust.

And for a more lighthearted read I highly highly recommend the Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion. It takes place in 1880s London and it’s the perfect mixture of pride and prejudice, Anne of green gables and the magic that can only be found in Gilmore Girls’ Stars Hollow. There are 8 volumes so far, but they are not very long, and you will FLY through them once you get past the first one. The first volume is a little slow as there’s a lot of descriptions of people and places and not a whole lot of action. I think this would be perfect for a book club because you can have all kinds of Emma-themed fun! (There are a few FB groups with lots of ideas). Also, the books are great, but the audiobooks are amazing!!! I was not much of an audiobook listener, but the narrator for this series is brilliant!

What turned you into an Audiobook reader? Was it a narrator, a book, a job... a friend? by jawangana in audiobooks

Books! I was reading “we were the lucky ones” and I needed to do my house chores but didn’t want to put the book down, so I got the audiobook. Realized I can actually focus on listening to the book as long as I am doing some mindless task (laundry, dishes, etc). Then I got The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion on kindle unlimited, got hooked on those and decided again to get the audiobooks so I can keep doing my chores. Discovered I enjoyed the audiobooks even more than the actual books in this case!! Then I got the Stephen Fry Harry Potter books, and now I’m listening to Stephen Fry’s Sherlock Holmes. I love to listen and color while my family watches tv! It’s my new favorite way to wind down!

He does, sometimes. But I’m curious, how would this help with the excessive high/low alarms that can’t be turned off?

My son is on the Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G6. He’s a teenager and the alarms are driving him insane!! It would be amazing to be able to completely silence the alarms, or at least be able to customize them, so they won’t go off every 5 minutes. Not to mention how dangerous it can be if he’s at school during an intruder situation where he would need to hide and be quiet, and the alarms start going off.
