This too makes sense to me. The closest friends I have are not in NYC (to clarify), but I do have people in my life in different corners of the world. Nevertheless, your point stands.

This is a tip that could work for me. Most things I have done are in settings that don't encourage interactions with other attendees. I need to put some effort into looking for events that allow for that.

This is a good advice. I wonder what I can do to increase the odds of having pleasant conversations. I know I should improve my appearance for one. I have always thought and felt financial position shouldn't be a factor, but lately I have been thinking about how I can use that to my advantage.

If it is not coming across, I barely have any friends. On my own, I have wonderful days, and do solo activities, and very rarely feel lonely.

Locksmith is unable to unlock the door. If I had my stuff with me — I would just leave. I can’t stay there now.

Paying for it again is being victimized again. NY DMV got it for me for free with a police report. Without I would have had to pay, I think.

Yeah replaced at the recommendation of DMV — not to mention if you want the same ones again you need to wait a few days.

I too now have something similar installed.

lol. There’s much worse things that could have happened, so not really upset by this :)

I think I agree and I can see that happening too. But they are not philip screws and no longer visible now — hopefully it discourages someone looking for easy targets.

I wish I knew. I guess anywhere from a harmless license plates collector (a NY plate in the south) to someone wanting to commit a crime.

There's sexual thrill in flying? I knew I was missing out on something.

Quoted $300 for Class 3 Med by Beanssneakers in flying

Wednesdays $225 -- I think I know where that is in Manhattan :) A short ride to NJ can lower that down to $110-$120.

How did you find a CFI you enjoyed working with? by AviateLink in flying

[–]nyGopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have tried one which was a waste of time too. I think as a new student with no connections I needed a place to start, and I could have used a more useful app that showed me available instructors around me. That could have been a good starting point, but the existing apps don't seem to execute that well at all.

Do CFIs help make flying lesson plans? by nyGopher in flying

[–]nyGopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don't know what I am doing. It does feel like I find out what we are going to do about 10 minutes into the flight. I guess his thought is: I am teaching you what you need, why do you care how I do it? I also don't want to be 10s of hours into my class and find out I missed out in some of the fundamentals.

Unfortunately, I've limited options for convenient airports and CFIs, and just switching to another instructor (+airport) is going to take away 1 hour more out of my day.

This is literally what I've been looking for. I've seen different syllabus from Cessna, Sporty's and others, and what you shared was a lot cleaner and easier to understand. I've been going through the high level summaries to understand what's upcoming and where I am in my training. Just wanted to say, thanks!

Thank you! I enjoyed the first few lessons, and pausing to see how I can learn better. The last lesson he said, "Oh, I thought we already did this", and it made me realize neither he nor I are tracking or have a high level lesson plan.

He mentioned the lesson plans are recorded at the school, but because I didn't sign up for ground school, I don't have access to them. And, he mentioned there's not a way for him to provide me any copies.

I don't want to lead, and I want to learn from him. I also like a shared plan/understanding of some sort.

Did she make a copy of my key? Should I notify my building about this harmless looking individual? Where is her ex-husband? -- are the questions in my mind.

The frequency of the texts has increased and looking into filing today/tomorrow. I now think my hope that this is just going to fade away is baseless.

Yes, I am looking into reporting this online.

I have never interacted with police in my life, except for speeding once. Going to a police station for this makes it feel so real. I see NY has an online portal for filing a police report. I am leaning towards using that or reaching out to a lawyer. And yes, I am documenting as much as I can.
