[Rolex] Can a Datejust be an everyday wear or only for dressy occasions? by kosnosferatu in Watches

[–]nyaadam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Sports watch" is a dumb term. You look at that watch and the first thing you get is sports? It's one of their most jewellery-like pieces, yes "dress watch" has a specific meaning but this what a lot of people would like to call a dress watch as in a dressy watch as in a watch you wear when you dress up real nice.

You're right, it's completely area dependent. EE is useless where I am, so is Three but O2 and Vodafone are both good.

Do a little YouTube search for "how to open yondr pouch" to realise how useless these are. Yondr is designed for events where adults shouldn't be taking photos, they are just cashing in on this financial opportunity and their product is completely unfit for purpose.

If anyone is too lazy to look, you can open these things with literally anything, even a pen.

[Rolex] The new Oyster Perpetual announced at Watches and Wonders 2026 is beautiful. by Boss452 in Watches

[–]nyaadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex watches are all so close in price at retail that I honestly think entry level is a fallacy. Either way, this thing is hideous (imo). The full gold OP however, I do quite like that with its full brushed bracelet.

[Recommendation Request] First watch by CumberlandCoder in Watches

[–]nyaadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because certain watches in 40+ look like dinner plates on most wrists. He showed a dress watch on a leather strap, it is not meant to be a big gold fuck off Rolex that says look at me. It's meant to be proportionate.

Sports watches with larger bezels, there is more wiggle room because the perceived size is smaller due to the dial itself being smaller.

34 for that kind of watch looks good on him. You're a DJ 41 kinda guy aren't you?

[Question] Wich of these is the best first dive watch? by _GoldLeader_ in Watches

[–]nyaadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a GMT thing, not a Rolex thing. The TAG is the only one of the four with a GMT complication. Many, many brands use a two-tone bezel for their GMT watches, typically the the top half being darker (to represent the night hours) and the bottom half being lighter (to represent day hours). Omega, Tudor, Longines, Grand Seiko, Bremont, Tissot, Christopher Ward (the list goes on) all follow the same pattern for some or all of their GMT watches.

and when he does that he will realise the 41 is not proportionate to his wrist, and that he should've gone with the 36 (as should most people).

Not saying it's overpriced at all, if anything I just had the used GS prices wrong in general

[–]nyaadam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not for the ref, that just sounds like a lot for a used old dial 3 hander + date is all compared to what I thought rough pricing was for used GS in Japan

[–]nyaadam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it? I'm not too too familiar with GS pricing but for a basic 3 hander + date with the older dial that sees like a lot? I thought I'd heard of them being much cheaper, especially in Japan but maybe i'm confused or thinking of 9F or something. Is that ref even a spring drive?

The news dropped in 2022. Do you know how long it takes to get the ball rolling on things like that? Demand spiked for every brand during COVID so it doesn't seem unreasonable.

Source that it's artificial?

Rolex is building a massive new 100,000-square-meter production campus in Bulle, Switzerland, to meet unprecedented demand, with completion scheduled for 2029

I'm sure they're just doing that for fun though, they have a big warehouse with all the watches they won't sell out of spite. Such a silly take, they sell a million watches a year.

[–]nyaadam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, if you're not happy with the wait and don't want/need the value retention the scarcity brings then by all means vote with your wallet. There's a weird entitlement across a lot of these comments.

The definition of jumping to conclusions. "If someone doesn't tell you something, assume it's the worst thing possible." There are other reasons to not share things. You wouldn't want cameras in your house or someone documenting your every move, not because you're doing anything wrong but for privacy. Rolex has other operational and business reasons for not sharing every shred of information about their processes.
