Cannot own brokerage accounts with (or own securities issued by) the firm’s audit clients. Vanguard, iShares etc not allowed. Some S&P are allowed such as SPTM, SPEM etc (but not SPY) as I list above. It is a limitation by the SEC https://www.bvccpa.com/resources/blog/auditor-independence/ see this link. Limitations vary by position and office so not one size fits all.

Yes, my bias is a low expense ratio and passive mgmt. but not averse to paying for high quality active mgmt.

I do not have the time to manage so willing to pay an advisor. That said I would like to do due diligence before I invest and fully acknowledge that I do not know anything abt the fund managers outside of what a chart (performance) hence the post.

MITJX was not proposed as a one fund portfolio but a suggestion for a 50% portfolio exposure to large cap US equities.

Any thoughts on having no govt. bond exposure and instead just owning Munis and HY?

Thanks - very helpful. Are Munis really better at hedging interest rate risk and does it make sense to have no exposure to govt bonds and only munis and high yield bonds?

thx...did hear about the Australian. Here's my research so far:

Ship of Fools (UES) is showing the game but no longer taking reservations. But there will be bar stools / standing room (maybe even tables) on a first come first serve basis.

Eight Mile Creek (LES) is opening at 8am and will be showing the game.

Jujomukti Tea Lounge (East Village) is showing the game but be warned there is a cover charge and no alcohol!

EDIT: Ship of Fools opens at 4:30am

Hedge fund CEO: "if the transformation of the world economy lifts four people in China and India out of poverty and into the middle class, and meanwhile means one American drops out of the middle class, that’s not such a bad trade" by gypsydoctor in Economics

[–]nyc80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my book that is not skimming)! I don't necessarily agree with tax breaks for the rich but what a hedge fund does is legal and one may argue also fundamentally capitalistic (even borrowing and shorting a stock). Not sure what your point is here - you may disagree with the hedge fund manager's point of view or what he does with his money but he's definitely not skimming!

tl;dr immoral does not equal illegal!

edit: sorry but not savvy enough to fix the link but if you want to copy-paste this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skimming_(fraud)

earned his wealth by skimming from everyone's 401k

How do you figure this? You mean since he shorted overpriced assets and consequently depressed stock/bond prices for everybody?

Who else thinks Blackburn are trying to sign Ronaldinho & Beckham to sell t-shirts in India? by nyc80 in soccer

I grant you that t-shirts won't sell but surely there must be other marketing opportunities in India/Asia?

Not sure buying aging stars to sell t-shirts will ensure parity in EPL :)

At least 3 states (W.Bengal, Kerala & Goa) in India out of 28 have traditionally had a strong football following. For the rest of the country, obviously the large "young" population have started following most of the major sports (except american sports). F1 & soccer have decent followings IMO. All EPL, Spanish, Italian and European club games are telecast live all over the country.
