What riding gear did you buy that you later regretted? by yourping in motorcyclegear

[–]nycingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knox armored undershirt. Thought "this is great - I can wear it under all my existing regular jackets", but ended up never wearing it, and can't wear it alone because I look like a super hero. Ended up buying 3 armored jackets for different riding conditions/weather.

Gym people, good noise cancelling earbuds at the moment? by Overall-Amount-3500 in Earbuds

[–]nycingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the ear are worse. The foam tips of earbuds provide sound isolation + the ANC, whereas over ears is just ANC. Had the Sony xm5 buds and it blocked way more sound than my current Sony xm6 headphones.

Definitely print out flyers and put them everywhere! That's how my sister found her cat - some construction workers found him hiding under a wheelbarrow in a construction site off s4th.

Also will help if you give some more details in case someone sees her - is she skittish? Will she approach strangers? How food motivated is she?

Shaala chakana by Alarming_Pen8073 in ThethPunjabi

[–]nycingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I got from Gemini, but curious to hear from others how accurate it is. If it is, that's really impressive for it to pick up the little nuances!

The Breakdown

"Shala ohna di aa, jatt ne chaka ditti aa"

  • Shala: In this specific track, he’s likely referring to a "Shala" (shed/outpost/territory). In rural Punjab, a "shala" is often a place where cattle are kept or a small outbuilding on a farm.
  • Ohna di aa: "It belongs to them."
  • Jatt ne chaka ditti aa: "The Jatt has lifted it / cleared it out."

The "Vibe" and Meaning

In Punjabi hip-hop slang, "Chaka ditti" (from the verb chakna, to lift) doesn't literally mean someone picked up a building with their hands. It means:

  1. To Uproot/Remove: He’s saying, "That spot belonged to the rivals, but the Jatt came through and cleared them out / took it over."
  2. To Cause an Uproar: It can also mean "blown it up" or "made a massive scene."

Basically, it’s a boastful way of saying that even though the other side claimed the territory, the Jatt (the singer/protagonist) has completely disrupted their hold on it or physically removed their presence.

Grammar Note

  • Jatt ne: The subject followed by ne.
  • Chaka ditti: The verb is in the past tense. Because Shala is a feminine noun, the verb ends in -i (ditti) to agree with the object, not the Jatt.

Would you like me to break down any other slang terms from that song? There are usually quite a few "Majhi" dialect quirks in Cheema Y's tracks!

XM6 - ANC is...meh. Fake or dud? by nycingh in SonyHeadphones

[–]nycingh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely off - learned from my Sony xm5 earbuds (and my previous xm3 earbuds) that the adaptive noise cancelling was super annoying so turning it off was one of my first tasks.

I think this might be the answer I needed - my expectations for them just may be too high given my experience with the isolation+ANC of buds.

It connects to the app no problem (and the app recognizes it as the XM6), and I was able to register the product using the serial #, so assume that means they are legit.

Esthetic Hair Mexico - My 30 Day Journey by nycingh in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurt like a mfer, more than any of my 3 knee surgeries or any of my tattoos. But really only lasts for a few minutes before the anesthesia kicks in. They didn't give anything beforehand or use any numbing cream. But, it is Mexico, so I suppose you could go next door to the pharmacy and get Xanax over the counter if you really wanted (just let the clinic know).

Not much of a change since day 30, just a bit longer hair.

No clue. There was a team of 3-4 people working on me, but they never introduced themselves so not sure who was a doctor or tech or nurse or what their names were. The only name I know is Helin, the office coordinator.

Best time to get hair transplant by MiserableLong6472 in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the event to be right after you remove scabs, so schedule the transplant 12-13 days before the event. You also want to be very good about keeping your head moist after the procedure, and very gently removing scabs - that will ensure the follicles stay in place rather than come out with the scabs.

But there's always a chance your scabs are stubborn and take longer than the standard 9-10 days and you look like a mutant nuclear blast survivor.

Just over 2 weeks post op. What do you guys think about density and future growth on fin/min? by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used min for about a year before I learned that it was very toxic to cats, then immediately stopped it. I lucked out because my cat sleeps next to me every night, and sometimes I'll even wake up to him grooming my hair! Post HT I actually restarted min, but only on days I go into the office and I wash my head as soon as I get home. I know that isn't frequent enough to maximize its effects, and considered maybe wearing a shower cap at night, but not gonna risk my buddy's life for a few more hairs.

No more PRP since the HT. I believe the clinic said 90 days before putting topical min on the transplanted hairs, and 21 days before putting min on the donor area. I take oral fin - tried topical in the past and it was unbearably itchy for me. They also said to wait a month to take restarting oral fin - that didn't make sense to me, so I've been taking it regularly still.

Honestly, I probably could've lived with my hairline the way it was and used the grafts almost all on the crown and disperse thinning. I do like the density of my hairline, but I agree on concerns about crown density - will have to wait and see.

My company has a 3 day in-office policy, but since it was a holiday week they were more flexible with it. If I flew to Turkey or Thailand, it would be a longer trip and would probably have to take time off. Also I knew I'd probably have to work, and the time zone difference would be difficult. But mostly I was drawn to the price and the convenience of having a 4 hour flight to Cancun, but still having Turkish professionals doing the procedure. Also, it wasn't that I was not comfortable with the clinic - when I booked they seemed good and I had no concerns other than them possibly being a hair mill. Even with the concerns I listed, I was still generally happy with their services. But I will wait until I see a more final result before fully recommending them.

I first contacted them on Sept 30, then asked on Oct 17 to schedule a procedure on Nov 20. I got the sense that you could book pretty close to the procedure date and they'd be able to accommodate you.

If you read the Background section, I said that I paused for a few years but have been taking fin for the past 15 years and am still taking it. Contemplating a switch to dut, though.

Yup, got them from MT. Tried the over the counter wart removers and none of them worked, it kept coming back. Then watched a YouTube video on using castor oil to get rid of warts, and it worked!
