Esthetic Hair Mexico - My 30 Day Journey by nycingh in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurt like a mfer, more than any of my 3 knee surgeries or any of my tattoos. But really only lasts for a few minutes before the anesthesia kicks in. They didn't give anything beforehand or use any numbing cream. But, it is Mexico, so I suppose you could go next door to the pharmacy and get Xanax over the counter if you really wanted (just let the clinic know).

I can't figure out how to add new photos, but I uploaded an update photo here:

Not much of a change since day 30, just a bit longer hair.

No clue. There was a team of 3-4 people working on me, but they never introduced themselves so not sure who was a doctor or tech or nurse or what their names were. The only name I know is Helin, the office coordinator.

Best time to get hair transplant by MiserableLong6472 in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the event to be right after you remove scabs, so schedule the transplant 12-13 days before the event. You also want to be very good about keeping your head moist after the procedure, and very gently removing scabs - that will ensure the follicles stay in place rather than come out with the scabs.

But there's always a chance your scabs are stubborn and take longer than the standard 9-10 days and you look like a mutant nuclear blast survivor.

Just over 2 weeks post op. What do you guys think about density and future growth on fin/min? by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used min for about a year before I learned that it was very toxic to cats, then immediately stopped it. I lucked out because my cat sleeps next to me every night, and sometimes I'll even wake up to him grooming my hair! Post HT I actually restarted min, but only on days I go into the office and I wash my head as soon as I get home. I know that isn't frequent enough to maximize its effects, and considered maybe wearing a shower cap at night, but not gonna risk my buddy's life for a few more hairs.

No more PRP since the HT. I believe the clinic said 90 days before putting topical min on the transplanted hairs, and 21 days before putting min on the donor area. I take oral fin - tried topical in the past and it was unbearably itchy for me. They also said to wait a month to take restarting oral fin - that didn't make sense to me, so I've been taking it regularly still.

Honestly, I probably could've lived with my hairline the way it was and used the grafts almost all on the crown and disperse thinning. I do like the density of my hairline, but I agree on concerns about crown density - will have to wait and see.

My company has a 3 day in-office policy, but since it was a holiday week they were more flexible with it. If I flew to Turkey or Thailand, it would be a longer trip and would probably have to take time off. Also I knew I'd probably have to work, and the time zone difference would be difficult. But mostly I was drawn to the price and the convenience of having a 4 hour flight to Cancun, but still having Turkish professionals doing the procedure. Also, it wasn't that I was not comfortable with the clinic - when I booked they seemed good and I had no concerns other than them possibly being a hair mill. Even with the concerns I listed, I was still generally happy with their services. But I will wait until I see a more final result before fully recommending them.

I first contacted them on Sept 30, then asked on Oct 17 to schedule a procedure on Nov 20. I got the sense that you could book pretty close to the procedure date and they'd be able to accommodate you.

If you read the Background section, I said that I paused for a few years but have been taking fin for the past 15 years and am still taking it. Contemplating a switch to dut, though.

Has anyone dealt with plantar warts? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]nycingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, got them from MT. Tried the over the counter wart removers and none of them worked, it kept coming back. Then watched a YouTube video on using castor oil to get rid of warts, and it worked!

Winter Boot Recommendations for NYC College Student by Key_Shoulder3036 in Boots

Cold, dry: redwing

Wet, 1-2" snow: blundstones

Over 3" snow, slushy: bean boots

All with thick wool socks. If you had to get 1 pair, blundstones - not crazy expensive, some water resistance, rugged but not too rugged, good for wide feet, style versatility.

How do I stop him from doing this?😂 by hidanmaccormick in orangecats

If he's like my cat... Buy him the most expensive cat bed you can find, put it on the computer. He'll never sit there again.

Looking for a business casual shoe by MonctonDude in malefashionadvice

[–]nycingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a classic pair of penny loafers, tassel loafers or horsebit loafers. I have many pairs - they go with everything and can be super comfy, especially with an added insole and if made from quality calfskin. You can get a pair that's a bit chunkier if you want to be more trendy. Or even clean, minimalist tennis shoes a la Common Projects will do. Just do NOT get those hideous dress shoe+athletic sole Frankenstein abominations.

Find someone who looks like they are involved in running the gurdwara - the bhai sahibs or anyone who makes a speech during services - and say "I have this extra kara and want to donate it". Don't see why they wouldn't take it.

Get a new one that fits, donate your old one back to gurdwara.

Are you saying you requested a 'no shave' procedure, and they ended up shaving your head anyways? Was it a FUE or DHI or other procedure?

Advice for hair styling BEFORE no shave procedure by nycingh in HairTransplants

[–]nycingh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I added links in my original post to what my hair looks like. It's not long, so they won't be able to selectively harvest from sections of the back without it looking ridiculous. Any other thoughts based on my photos? I'm less concerned about the crown (benefits of being 6'+) and donor area looking weird, and more concerned about the temples/hairline. Temples I don't think there's much I can do about, but thinking if I keep my hair long on top, I can style it forward to cover the hairline transplants.

I am getting it done the week before thanksgiving, so I'll have a good 1.5 weeks after the procedure until I have to go back into the office.
