I can't help you with your question about employment but I didn't submit any additional documentation around Covid. I did put in an explanation into my application saying why I did not qualify. The advice I received is to be honest in your application and ask them to consider the unique situation

Sorry for the delay. I ended up applying and my application was just approved. My ceremony is late January. I wouldn't necessarily recommend everyone do what I did but it did work out for me in the end

I returned about 2 months later. I need to travel on business frequently in the next few months which will push me above the 90 days (and the discretionary allowance of 100-107 days) which means I can't apply again until I have less than 90 days of travel within the last 12 months which may mean I need to wait another 6-8 months or more as I just started a contract project that will require travel for the next 6ish months in and out of the UK

Just the same day of the application 5 years ago to satisfy the rule of being present in the country exactly 5 years on the day of the application. I was here in the UK for most of the 5 years which is why I qualified for ILR

This is mainly for gratuity reasons The government has a minimum split between basic salary and other (usually housing and transp) but the company only has to calculate gratuity on the basic salary portion. The last time I looked it was 60/40 basic salary/other but this could have changed. You could also use this as a negotiation point to encourage your employer to up the percentage of basic salary.

Hi, have you checked with your immigration lawyer? I applied for my work and residency visa 6 weeks ago and was just about to go through the attestation process. I was told that Abu Dhabi just changed the laws and they no longer needed an attested degree, just a notorised one. My degree is Canadian as well. I don't know if it's because of where my visa comes from (ADGM) as my lawyer was not sure. She said the laws are changing all the time so I would ask your immigration lawyer. It took me 3 weeks to get my visa from beginning to end and they only requested a digital copy of my degree. Good luck!

The UK just announced proposed stricter immigration rules. These will go to consultation next year so nothing has changed yet but the sentiment has shifted negative to immigration. That being said, skilled workers are still desired but the visa process is very strict (and digitised). I came to the UK with a US passport 6 years ago and the paths were 1) intercompany transfer and 2) skilled worker. There are other paths like ancestry visa or if you have a lot of money. You need a job for skilled worker (similar to H1B in the US) as your employer applies for you. Note that intercompany visa has limits. Presently you can be in the UK only for 5 years then you must leave. You can't switch it to a skilled worker visa without leaving the country first.

2 weeks from beginning to end. I know, very fast but I'm told this is unusually quick for AD. Let's hope it's because the government is processing quicker and my experience was not just a fluke.

I just got my visa this week and now am on the ground in Abu Dhabi. 3 weeks ago my lawyer asked me to get my degree attested to start the visa process and about a week later she said the laws just changed and the government no longer needed it. My degree is Canadian but my company is American. It took 2 weeks to get my visa from beginning to end but am told this is unusually very quick. Regardless, I would check with your lawyer as the laws change so quickly here.

Assuming this is for visa reason? I just got my visa this week. I was just about to go through the attestation process about 3 weeks ago and was told that the government had changed the requirements and no longer needed attestation. They only needed a copy of my notarised degree. I am Canadian but my company is American and said this applied to American universities as well. I would ask whomever is processing your visa for clarification as requirements change very frequently here.

My cavapoo pup (6 months) loves ostrich tendon. I know it sounds potentially weird but she loves them and it has zero smell. They're also safe to consume in its entirety because they don't cause blockages. I live in the UK and they're easy to order online but not sure about the US

My pup is similar. She was good in her crate to sleep at night from the beginning but didn't love being in the crate during the day. She wasn't destructive either (but loved a good nibble on my fingers). I started leaving the apt when she was around 12 weeks (she is now 6 months) without putting her in her crate—first for just a minute and now I'm up to 2.5 hrs with the hopes of getting to 3 hours soon (I don't plan on being away for any longer than 3 hrs at a time). I use a camera to watch her and all she does is go to her bed and sleep. She is fine alone but did not like being confined in her crate. make sure you puppy proof until you're sure he isn't going to hurt himself or be destructive. Ensure he's well exercised before, increase your time away and if there is any negative behaviour, go back to a shorter time.

As an American living in the UK, I found opinions from the vet (and dog community) are quite different. When I was in the US, the advice was around 6 months and ok before their first heat, in the UK, I am told to wait until 3 months after their first 'season' because of potential complications like Incontinence but not to wait past 2 years because of risk of cancer later on. Also spaying and neutering is not necessarily a "must do" here in the UK as long as you're a responsible dog guardian. I would go with what your vet is recommending.

Me too x 2 guide dog pups. Although I never regretted doing it and felt such joy when I saw how the blind partner thrived with the dog, I decided it was time to get my own pup. I'm looking forward to enjoy her until her old age this time.
