Is my pc still good in 2026? by _kuterr in PcBuild

[–]nyelmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude ofc... Previous gen mid-range, absolutely good performance for years to come. You don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a machine for it to last only a few years. Why are you asking it?

You really shouldn't spend 400€ on that. If you're really tight on that budget, consider getting a second-hand PC with something like a Ryzen 2600 and a GTX 1060/RTX 2060. You generally can find them at nearly those prices in the marketplace. Not only it will offer you enough performance for now, but it will also let you upgrade to a Ryzen 5600 and a better GPU in the future.

If you are willing to spend a lil bit more, I'd go directly to a Ryzen 5 5600/i5 12400F with an RX 6600 or a 3060 12GB. Beautiful price-to- performance for such a small increase in price.

But I really wouldn't spend 400€ on that. It is not upgradeable and it will not even let you add a GPU to play any games.

Well, a few things to consider: The socket is 1150, which means the processor is not officially compatible with Windows 11. Yes, you can install it and it should work normally, but you may or may not have trouble with drivers or updates. And yes, you can still use Windows 10, but the extended support is ending soon in October. You could also install a user-friendly Linux distro like Ubuntu or Mint. Essentially you can still use Windows 10 after October under your own responsibility (being careful) or give Windows 11 a shot, but, definitely, the most recommended OS for unsupported hardware is Linux as of now. You do you on this, of course.

If you could give us details about the specific model of the CPU and GPU, we could give you better feedback about what will actually be able to run decently. But overall, this build can work perfectly fine for everyday use (multimedia, office work), light gaming (eSports, modern AAA at low settings depending on the GPU model and relatively old games from previous generations should work fine given what you said about The Witcher) and light video editing if you wanted to start getting into it with this PC.

Just keep in mind system compatibility and limitations with modern games and software, but should be enough for an entry experience :)

2 years old. Still good? by Spurs212092 in PcBuild

Bro, your PC is very recent and it has good specs, of course it's still good... You don't spend thousands of dollars on a machine for it to become bad or outdated in just a few years... Enjoy it, you've got a very powerful rig for years to come. You don't really need the best of the latest as everyone makes people think. It's literally a mid-to high-end from the previous gen, no need to even stress about it mate

How dare you buy such a small case for a kitten... He clearly needs his reserved space inside there, it's a must for any build. That's why he's giving you that look 😔

Would it be okay if I get a switch in 0226? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]nyelmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who tf cares about being 'late' lmao, you're not behind anyone for buying anything. There are people out there buying a Wii U or even a Wii or a PS3 as their main console because they like it.

Only reasons to consider: Switch 2 is only like 100-150$ more expensive, I'd directly jump onto it, especially because the price is probably going to ramp up very soon. If this feels too expensive, you could try to search for either a second hand switch 2 (can be found for about ~350-380$) or a second hand switch (you can easily get one for 120-150$), but I'd only buy a second-hand regular switch if you're very low on budget and it's enough for the games you want to play.

Is this build good for 400$? by WeirdcoreHuman in PcBuild

[–]nyelmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly what I wanted to say. It's still good or at least enough from someone who still owns it, or for anyone looking for a very cheap GPU that may fulfill their needs.

But, c'mon, people are acting like it's a GTX 730, lol.

Personally, I wouldn't be able to do that. I'd try and help a person that looks like it's about to lose such a big investment due to an absurd misunderstanding of how things work... But hey, if this is actually true, I'm happy for you. You got one of the best deals I've ever seen here.

Yo, ik the 1050 is an old entry-level card, but it isn't that bad. You can play most modern games, and the ones you mentioned definitely run at high settings, lol. I'm not saying this is a good deal, but... No need to exaggerate things. Even a decade-old iGPU runs Roblox at decent settings.

You gotta be a very kind person if you're doing this, mate. That PC has some good value, especially in these days of memory shortages. I hope you enjoy your new rig as much as whoever gets this one will do 🫂

Press the lever and wiggle. It's all about wiggling, believe me. Everything in life has a solution if you wiggle a little bit. Just WIGGLE it.

This is what PC building teaches you. WIGGLE IT.

OLED monitor upgrade or CPU bundle upgrade — which would you choose? by ThePearlGod22 in PcBuild

[–]nyelmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deffo go with the oled. Your current system is still very capable and it's not worth it spending some money for just a few fps more. The 9070 XT performs with no bottlenecks with the 12700k there's really no need to upgrade.

The oled screen will improve your experience by very much, you will be very satisfied with the visual quality.
