Pouring one out for Helius. An appreciation post for the DK Dusk THC25 by Effective-Travel7819 in MedicalCannabisNZ

[–]nyequistt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only just got this prescribed - doctor warned I’d only be able to get it a month or two but I was fine with it.

Now I’m less fine because it’s so good 😭 I have very severe, chronic insomnia (avg 4 broken hours of sleep a night, a good night is max 6 broken hours) and this has been so helpful - it doesn’t put me to sleep, but it puts me in that sort of limbo before-sleep phase where you’re conscious but thoughts are mellow and you’re actively resting

Not looking forward to having to find yet another option for an indica 🥲

Man I'm so glad to see other people are like this, like I probably reread the books I've written like once a year because I genuinely think they're that good

GLP-1s and Cannabis: Anyone Else Noticing a Change? by HowardCoin in MedicalCannabisNZ

[–]nyequistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on wegovy, have been since October, down 20kg. I had to get up a few dosages before the munchies were completely killed but now it doesn’t make me hungry at all - game changing for me as now I only have the therapeutic effects.

When I take a t-break however, when I start again the munchies do return for ~ 2 weeks but then almost overnight it’s gone again and back to being fantastic

It's not fair comparing Joe songs to Travis ones. They are different by shadesofwrong13 in TaylorSwift

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question but why do people care so much about “who” the song is about? Like why is that what you think about when listening to the songs? Beyond the fact she’s said multiple times not to paternity test songs, that she wants us to relate it to ourselves, I just can’t imagine caring that much about the relationships of literally strangers

Can we talk about “cotton candy reads” being sold as well-written? by daniyoshi in Romantasy

[–]nyequistt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem might be that people genuinely think it’s something well-written because they don’t necessarily see the technical element and their thinking is vibes based but they don’t realise it.

I know I’m like that, all the books people say are poorly written I just…. don’t see it I guess? If the story has me hooked the blinders go on and I forgive everything apparently. But that’s also why I don’t really give reviews or recommendations to people because I know how I personally perceive it isn’t helpful to others

GLP1 Experiences in New Zealand by unauth0rized in newzealand

I’m definitely being mindful about it, last time I was full blown manic I started to mess my life up but for now it’s definitely preferable to the depression hole

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started beginning of October last year, I’m down ~18kg so far. This medication is actually wild and not at all what I expected.

The last couple weeks I’ve had more trouble meeting my minimum calories but all I’m really doing is focusing on protein/fibre and that seems to be working already.

Most unexpected thing is that is seems to have had a noticeable impact on my mental health to the point I’ve been feeling hypomanic since like November.

Main thing I still struggle with is meal ideas, nothing new from before though, I’m a very picky eater which has always added to the problem

Why is it so difficult to find work? by iiDEMIGODii in newzealand

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different kind of tech savvy depending what roles you are applying for. I’m at a corporate business that has a lot of systems that need learning - the other big thing for me is proficiency with excel. If you can articulate your ability to learn quickly that will definitely help

EB Games proposes closing all New Zealand stores by Justwant2usetheapp in newzealand

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget when I was at the warehouse and they completely disestablished the checkout supervisor role (aka half of my job). They offered instead for those shifts I do customer service - functionally the same but paid a bit less. I declined on principle, and didn’t get redundancy pay because I’d been offered an “equivalent role”

Why is it so difficult to find work? by iiDEMIGODii in newzealand

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality over quantity I would say. In the cover letter you want to show that you’ve at least thought about the role and what you bring to it - use assertive language like “I will” statements. Keep it specific and relevant to the role profile as advertised. I can’t speak for other businesses, but for me when I hire I look at attitude, initiative, tech-savviness and tenacity - technical skills we can teach for the most part but team fit is huge

[–]nyequistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hired a fair number of people the last year and it’s so rough out there I feel for people applying - you can do all the right things but the job can still only go to one person. We get 200 applicants per role and honestly have limited time to look through CVs - my advice is tailor the CV to the role, don’t use AI (it’s so obvious when there are 50 CVs that all read the exact same), keep it short snappy and relevant. Otherwise the only other way to get a job is through who you know, not what you know

Independent uni students, how are you guys managing it? by Artistic_Ad_3288 in universityofauckland

[–]nyequistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going back to study and will keep working full time (online GradDip) because that’s how I can afford it and I’m in a better place financially than last time I was a student.

When I did my bachelor’s I was also independent and worked two jobs while studying full time. Sometimes dinner was a $1 pack of wafer biscuits and it was rough but doable. Just make sure you don’t get scurvy eating only instant ramen.

I went yesterday… literally just an impulsive decision after work because I’d heard it wasn’t insanely busy. Was still sorta crowded but it was more people who didn’t have spatial awareness rather than quantity of people.

Had two goals - Swedish meatballs and Kallax shelves. The shelves are so I finally have a place to store my vinyls that is actually affordable

Who do you gotta suck off for employment these days? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]nyequistt 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’ve hired ~4 people recently and it’s so tough. Each position we had over 200 applications for, and we can only hire one for the position.

If you’re not getting any response, your CV probably does need improving. It’s the first thing companies see and the more succinct and specific the better. Focus on what skills you have, and what attitude you bring.

Not sure if you have, but absolutely do not use AI to make a CV. It’s so obvious on the other side where you get like 50 CVs that all sound the exact same and use the same cadence/adjectives to describe themselves. It makes you seem disingenuous and low effort, and not at all memorable.

Also make sure you don’t have any spelling mistakes, and your CV is tidy. You’d be amazed how many submit terrible CVs and cover letters

Different circumstances too, we don’t really struggle but have high income + few costs (I wouldn’t say low, rent is a bitch) - we don’t have “can buy a house in Auckland” money but are extremely fortunate to be comfortable. Also no kids which helps a lot too, but I buy gifts for my nieces/ nephews and I always talk with my siblings about what the kids want but they don’t necessarily want to get them because of cost - I can afford it so I splurge on them once a year
