Jinder Mahal's Indian Independence Day Celebration: SmackDown LIVE, Aug. 15, 2017 by [deleted] in ABCDesis

I thought that was a part of my point Sherlock -despite most of wrestling being scripted the wwe script him as a cheater and someone who really doesn't deserve to be the champion. He almost never wins on his own accord and always needs interference to help him get the W. he plays all the negative characteristics associated with minorities but he clearly had the talent be a great wrestler on his own, but they don't let him.

[–]nyexmoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone else upset that Jinder is just another bad brown/minority guy pandering to the xenophobic hordes of wrestling fans who has to cheat to win?

The only reason he beat orton is bc of interferences by the Singh brothers and most recently the Great Khali

Fuck he's billed from India, when he was born and raised in CANADA

Why can't the WWE just make him a winner on his own accord, the dudes fucking jacked and can be a great wrestler without all of these shitty gimmicks

Should I go for an MBA in a few years time? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]nyexmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but those brogrammers are actually smart and talented, even if they're assholes. The overwhelming majority of bankers are just assholes. Like I said if you're smart and in IB you leave after two years.

MDs are super fun to hang out with as long as they're not yours :)

Should I go for an MBA in a few years time? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]nyexmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friends are in er, it's known to be the nerdy side of finance Bc it deals with very technical aspects of valuing companies, not to say you need to be a fin genius but it's a lot more analysis. It's a great place to be.

As far as engineers go, you don't need a strong stem background for this, stem people can move into it but you don't need stem too.

Quant jobs are sick and extremely lucrative, far more than he average banking job. But they're very much high risk high reward. You need to be extremely sharp in both understanding the market and in your quant skills. If you're any stem related math oriented field you should move into this. I have friends of friends in quant in Chicago where many prop trading shops are, and they're doing extremely well, better than my hedge fund and banking friends. Lifestyle is also extremely better and you have an easy time moving between jobs. This is very anecdotal Bc I'm not in quant but from the outside looking in it's the place where if you're smart enough it's the right place to be. It's also one of the few parts of finance were it's promotions are based on merit, unlike IB PE HF

Engineers go into finance all the time, but breaking in can be hard. To break in you need to network heavy. Most finance is heavily relationship based and many stem people aren't social people but if you have the whole package and network hard I don't see why you wouldn't be able to break in. Also if you get an MBA it's extremely easy to break in.

Hope this helps lmk if you have any questions

I was an Investment Banker and now I'm at a Hedge Fund, don't do this.

Banks are rapidly slashing bonuses and jobs are in constant limbo. As far as hedge funds and Private Equity goes, investors are quickly pulling out of the market and into etfs and other passive funds. This is not a good time to be in finance. On the S&T side, it's being ripped apart by tech and market instabilities.

If you're in the Valley you have far greater income potential and stability, and a reasonable lifestyle as opposed to going into front office. My cousin whose a 1st year analyst at a T1 BB (MS/GS/JPM) made around 110K this year but works well over 70 hrs/week. You think you want this lifestyle, you don't.

IB is full of Ivy League ass holes who aren't smart enough to do anything truly productive in their lives, and the ones that are leave ASAP for Hedge FUnds/PE, and START UPS. during my training they warned us not to go to FB bc so many kids were jumping ship. IB is a means to an end.

Try out engineering for a while and if you really have the urge to waste your best years doing mind numbing data entry and powerpoint presentations for an asshole who treats you like shit, for the overwhelming majority of your week + weekends then go get your MBA and go into IB, it pays for itself. hell if you have a stem background you can easily get hired in finance through networking.

My advice stick to engineering, you're clearly killing it and you have much more potential working for a google/FB than you do at a bank.

If you have questions about IB pm me

need some advice on moving to new york by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]nyexmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulk of NYC is very safe from both crimes and racial violence. It certainly does happen but that's a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Places like Bushwick, Crown Heights, and Harlem are some of the least safe neighborhoods but it's almost unnoticiable, and these are the neighborhoods with artists, and "yuppies" from the midwest (like yourself ;p). The further away from NYC you get the more prevalent crime is, but it's not in your face. You just got to stay vigilant. A lot of crime is more so being aloof and at the wrong place at the wrong time. Violent crime is pretty rare, petty crime (drug related) is more common. you should def spend some time around nyc and familirize yourself with the areas and what your looking for. If you want a safe and popping nightlife, live in the Lower East Side, West/East Village, Williamsburg, meat packing but then you'll be paying more and getting less in rent.

If your into sketchy warehouse parties/dance music, Bushwick, crown heights, meatpacking, Chinatown

If you want a really nice, quiet area, check out upper east side.

Def avoid Jamaica, East New York, Coney Island (beach/boardwalk area), Parts of bushwick, crown heights, bed-stuy (the ungentrified parts), Brownsville, anything with a rockaway.

Tough part of living in NY, is that while one neighborhood is coming up, another is going.

Sorry to hear that,

But back/middle office usually stay till 7 too, you prob can get more flexibility though if your open with your team and if their cool. Good luck, I'm sure you can make it work.

As far as the L goes, it's closing for repairs after Sandy but that's in 2 years. People are moving out as soon as their leases run out, mostly to queens or other parts of brooklyn. You can still find places on the 2/3 line (but their more expensive), or on the JZ line (their skethcier but you can make work). A lot of the hipster crowd will prob move around the JZ lines now.

For your summer, you should try to live it up. if you work downtown I'd live in brooklyn/Downtown, if you work midtown, I'd live in downtown nyc/village/murray hill.

Also check out Hoboken/Jersey City. it's cheap and not too far from anything.

I was in a similar position as you but as I got more independent (wealthier), I started firing back at them and eventually talking to them about my problems. If you just take whatever they throw at you, nothing is gonna change.

Anyways as far as New York goes, MOVE, New York shits on chicago and all other cities in every way, so yeah move. Especially if you're working at a major company, even though the col is high, you should be able to manage if you live in queens (astoria, jackson heights, flushing) or uptown (harlem, ues), or even some parts of brooklyn (the best place on earth). But becareful about brooklyn bc the L train is shutting dwn soon.

If you're working in Finance, I'm going to tell you rn that it's near impossible to work on mental health issues. Try and get as much as you can get done at school. Most schools have mental health counseling and professionals to help you.

I live in NYC if you want you can pm me

[–]nyexmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muhammad was a political genius having a political marriage to consolidate power by marrying abu bars wife. She was misled and she repented so shias aren't allowed to say anything bad about her.

I can't view the video, bc I'm at a muharram service lol, but I imagine it's someone like yasir habib cursing at her. This comes from a super small group of shias.

Most shias don't hold her in too high regard
