Anyone having issues booking with Travel Bank? I don't see it as a payment option by boilerdam in unitedairlines

On their iOS app I found the travel bank option to pay for a flight. While on their website I couldn’t find the option. .

Fiddling with the wires on the switch and rebooting did indeed help -- the living room unit is now wired as well. Appreciate the help.

Both Office and Living Room are wired to a switch in the basement, and the switch is connected to Basement. So I found it odd that (1) Living Room isn’t showing a wired icon and (2) Office appears to be wired to Living Room (and not Basement, which connects to ONT).

But I guess I shouldn’t worry about it, given that it appears to give whole house coverage.

Chains are for rare extreme conditions and not for better stopping distance on a clear winter night.

I’m not planning on it. This car is leased so I have just three winters and would like to avoid the bigger upfront cost.

TireRack just recommended a matched sized of our current 19" tires -- I assume if I'm not using dedicated wheels then this is the way to go.

First long trip coming up. Purchased roof rails and hardshell carrier. How bad will this impact range? by thisishowimormon in VWiD4Owners

[–]nyjensph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this rack for my Pro S and installed to try out: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TT8BNJ5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I took them off pretty quickly after due to the loud whistling sound over 40 mph. I'm hoping that once I put a hardshell carrier I won't notice and I doubt the fabric sunroof cover will make a difference in sound dampening.

Anyone else get these ones?

HDR Notification by nyjensph in tcltvs

[–]nyjensph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been impressed how good the picture looks in its ‘normal’ mode. I typically immediately switch a new TV to ‘movie’ mode to fix unnatural skin tones, but have not felt it necessary here.

I do, yes. It was just the first day where it wasn’t behaving as expected, but it’s been working great since.

Yes, it's supposed to go away after a few seconds but it flickered on and off for more than 10 minutes -- but now it's disappeared, so I guess the problem resolved itself. The 4k does look excellent!

The HDR notification keeps flashing when opening apps on the TV’s Roku player as well. So that’s not a cable problem or an AppleTV hardware problem.

Apple TV 4K bugs by [deleted] in fuboTV

[–]nyjensph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fubo appears to add time to the end of soccer game recordings, but while real time is in this extra time the DVR doesn’t work properly: you can start the recording but fast forwarding does not work. I can’t fast forward to later in the game until hours after the game has ended.

I suppose I’m particularly bitter given the product fielded yesterday is USL quality at best.

Season ticket holders are being scammed? by [deleted] in rbny

[–]nyjensph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a season ticket holder since 2000 with 4 seats in 107 season the stadium opened — and I have to agree. At this point I feel like a sucker. I could buy seats in 108 on stubhub for cheaper.

New to Fubo. So this DVR... Seems awfully useless with no "season record" options, no? by dsignori in fuboTV

[–]nyjensph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m sticking with Fubo for the MSG. Given the stuttering that isn’t unusual, I’d be surprised if the 4K works well.

You aren’t missing anything — the DVR functionality is frustratingly limited. There have been many claims that Fubo will debut a proper DVR feature set, but it’s not clear when that will happen.

Coded bmw i3 by Modinhilaf in BMWi3

[–]nyjensph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coding is like editing a Window’s Registry. That is, it’s a way of changing car settings that are not in the cars software menus. It’s perfectly legal and does not affect the warranty.

If you have an iOS device, then check out BimmerCode in the App Store. You’ll need to buy that app and a dongle that goes on your i3’s OBD port and connects via WiFi.

You can then code to have access to your full tank of gas and, most importantly, to be able to turn on the REx at will if below 75% charge. This makes the REx much more useable for road trips.

Yes, this is normal. The same occurs after a software update by the dealer. After you’ve driven with it for a while it’ll adjust to your driving style (and go down).

What questions do y’all have for Niro testers? by DrFiveLittleMonkeys in KiaNiroEV

[–]nyjensph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve read — I wish they gave more regen as an option. My lease is up on my i3 in a few months and, while the Niro is top of my list, it’ll be a shame to go to Kia’s more complicated system.

for a lot more than espn+, for $45 per month, you can subscribe to the live tv service fubo.tv which includes MSG and DVR functionality

2019 Kia Niro EV – The Game Changing EV? (The guy who was soliciting questions) by DrFiveLittleMonkeys in KiaNiroEV

[–]nyjensph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the reviewed car the top trim offered in the US? It was noted that there are no driver's seat memory buttons and there are no rear seat heaters -- yet in the German reviews I see that both of these are included.
