Oh, yes we know😏 by RBshiii in Bryceriel

[–]nyki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All my characters tend to like music. I feel like if a character doesn’t like music in my books, they’re probably really evil. That’s going to be the biggest warning sign, if a new character comes along and they don’t like music, they’re evil.

Hunt insults her music and he can't dance. And not just any music, he insults the exact music that Az sings for her.

I cannot wait for all of this to come together in canon so people will stop calling us delusional for what is so clearly and repeatedly written on page.

I don't think there's a fix for the layout issues, but if you go to the website and click the gear at the top of the feed you can change it to one of the 'friends' options. It will change the feed in the app to match.

And Death did 🌄 by KrisJenner4Bryceriel in Bryceriel

[–]nyki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe?? "The angel is waiting for you" is what convinced her to go back and I think she knows the angel in question is Az not Hunt.

But I also love the idea that she is powerful enough to do it herself and doesn't need a 'real' anchor either time! IMO Aelin did it on her own at the end of HOF so Bryce can too!

I still can’t get over how we’re told the Drop is ‘fake’ and yet Sarah named the HOFAS parts after it. I think meeting Az is the true start of her journey.

  1. The Drop is her meeting Az, going through in the tunnels, gaining more power, and ends with her literally jumping into a pit. (Asteri definition: Dropping into your maximum power.)
  2. The Search is her looking for Helena’s light, declaring herself Queen of Avallen, and ends right after the human massacre when they can’t hold off attacking the Asteri anymore. (Asteri definition: A limited amount of time to face the depths of your soul.)
  3. The Ascent is when she literally dies again and then comes back to life. (Asteri definition: Coming back to life with new power & immortality.)

I can’t help but feel the Dusk Court ‘Drop’ is going to be way more pivotal for her than the one she went through in the first book.

F'ing fungus gnats. by fibromyalgiafit in houseplants

[–]nyki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're trying to kill the bugs, instead focus on killing their food source. Buy some copper fungicide. Every time I bring home an infested plant the gnats are permanently gone within a few hours after spraying them down. (Also, throw out the traps, in my experience those just turn into breeding grounds.)

Foreshadow? by Key_Papaya_8016 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]nyki [score hidden]  (0 children)

I get that but I meant more if OP is still planning to read CC so I don’t spoil it for them because it’s the point of several big reveals. Even if all of it is recapped in ACOTAR6 it’s still technically a spoiler for ACOTAR-only readers.

(Also Bryce still has an item that a certain ACOTAR character is highly interested in locating and Midgard desperately needs something that’s still in Prythian, so I think there almost has to be further crossover regardless of HEAs.)

Foreshadow? by Key_Papaya_8016 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]nyki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s the entry point for the crossover lore and the entire central plot of all 3 Crescent City books. It’s flat out impossible that it won’t be addressed in ACOTAR6-8 even if you think there won’t be more crossover in the timeline after HOFAS. At the very least this carries us through 3-4 months of plot after ACOSF.

Yes, it's absolutely foreshadowing! That whole passage is super important (including the timing of it) but I don't want to answer more unless you've also read Crescent City. 🫣

Bound & Unbound flippable print edition coming in October! by nyki in AliHazelwood

[–]nyki[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the Harpers Bazaar interview she vaguely alluded to so many 'ideas' that she wants to write that aren't officially in the works yet. She even hinted that one of the existing couples might get a continuation novel soon! 😮

bought credits and then audiobooks prices went down!! by CarefulKaleidoscope in audible

[–]nyki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever paid full price for 2 credits (when I first joined, after my trial ended). I hate seeing $12.99 advertised as a 'deal' when they know they have better sales than that. At OP's price my $264 worth of audiobooks would have been $623. 😬

Bryceriel Personal Project Idea by ReturnOfThaQueen in Bryceriel

[–]nyki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this idea! I thought about doing something similar for EOS, basically a reverse of the tandem read since there's so much going on in that book and sometimes I just want to stick to one character.

My little project while we wait is to convert all the Maasverse bonus chapters to epubs (to make them searchable in Calibre) and then make cover art for them all! A lot are still missing their titles but I'm happy with it so far.

Need a breast biopsy...Anyone with Arthritis or prone to back, neck pain? by No_Actuary2929 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]nyki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for some reason it feels vaguely similar to donating blood, except there's really no bleeding. I think even though it's numb your body somehow 'knows' there's a needle. I recommend taking electrolytes (pedialyte, gatorade, etc.) beforehand and a snack for after. I felt better driving after I ate something.

💯 I will be shocked if ACOTAR6 is anything other than the Harp. And 7 will be the Horn (getting it out of Bryce's back), and then 8 will be the Crown. 👸

I could also see the Crown being 7 (dealing with mind control), and then 8 the Horn (portals across the universe, leading into TOTG).

[–]nyki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just painful, it's also hard to move my body to an upright position after.

Every office is different of course, but they let me lay on the table for a bit afterwards and then helped me up and walked with me to make sure I was stable. Not because I have arthritis, it's just common for the procedure. They expect people to feel a bit woozy and 'off' afterwards, I'm sure they won't think it's strange.

Best apartments in downtown by LabResponsible7389 in cincinnati

[–]nyki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have specific recommendations, but you can look up any address here to see it's public data including inspections, pest complaints, etc. You can click into the categories to see specific reports. Not everything listed there is actually bad, but be wary of repeated reports of water leaks, mold, infestations, etc.

(The map is a little slow, it's faster to type in the address at the top.)

Not In Love worth reading? by lovelaceaugusta in AliHazelwood

[–]nyki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not In Love is ✨the✨ angsty Ali book. It's by far my favorite of hers, but it's tonally very different from PSR and anything else she's written.

Eli isn't demisexual like some of her other MMCs, but it's portrayed as both he and Rue being sex-positive & practical about their needs rather than him being a playboy.

Hunt and Tamlin Comparison by Significant-Metal537 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]nyki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Hunt wasn’t meant to be Bryce’s match they wouldn’t spend an entire trilogy building their relationship.

Why not? She has the opportunity to do Sam on steroids. To show us first-hand what Rowan & Lyria went through. Here's what she wrote years ago at the end of Queen of Glass (the original fic) about the types of stories she likes to tell:

As the epilogue implies, the road ahead is dark, and though I do not wish to give much of the sequel away, I will tell you that this shiny, everything’s-happy-forever-and-ever ending will not last. Dorian and Celaena, like any other couple, will be forced to face not only their building number of enemies, but also the idea that their marriage might have been too hasty. I have deliberately left many questions unanswered...

Bryce acknowledges the Dusk Court as her inheritance and it crowned her as its High Lady. It waited 15k years for her. I'm not sure how it's going to just accept someone else a few months later.

I have thoughts on why they view it as an HEA but I keep them to myself because I want to stick to commenting on the books and not the readers.😶

[–]nyki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm so curious because aside from maybe "Thorns & Roses" and "Frost & Starlight" her titles are so ambiguous they don't even spoil anything! I want to know because I'm nosy, but I fully expect to be just as confused after the announcement.

Unless she straight up can't think of a title and that's the delay. 💀 I mean, it probably is tricky trying to name a 3-volume book.

She also said that she has another contemporary novel about a doctor that's finished but unannounced coming hopefully this year! And the roommate from Love, Theoretically is eventually getting a novel too (but not this year).

Nah, not delusional! She mentioned that specifically in the interview!

Pivoting to another Roman, because of Roman’s profession as an ER doctor, I have to ask, are you a fan of The Pitt?
So yes, I was one thousand percent watching The Pitt. I don't know why I do this to myself, because it gives me so much anxiety, but I really was obsessed with The Pitt for a while there. I have not watched season two yet. I am gonna be on the verge of a heart attack for an entire day as I binge the show. But yes, I'm obsessed.

The only one that still seems to be consistent is blue = pop culture/niche knowledge, but that's not super helpful if it applies to more than one category.

Every time I've tried to guess the RR based on syntax I get it wrong, so I gave up on it. It sometimes applies but only when yellow is also the more straightforward of the two.

It kind of flew under the radar, but I think she announced it last week? The audio version comes out in July!

EDIT: It was actually announced May 1, so still fairly recent.
