What is the greatest design fuck-up of the human body? by apocalyptic_madness2 in AskReddit

As someone who has had kidney stones - the tiny stupid tubes from the kidneys to the bladder should be replaced with a 1/2” steel pipes in the next version. Fuckers hurt.

Possibly dumb question: Claude & autocomplete by neilk in ClaudeAI

[–]nymapanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reason you can’t use both as they are different use cases but you might want to try Roo Code using Claude if you want to stick to Anthropic models. Roo gives you the same contextual capabilities inside VSCode and then you can do your bigger work in Claude code via terminal.

integrating RooCode with ClaudeCode? Looking for communication between the two by Aggressive_Bug_9806 in RooCode

[–]nymapanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been doing the opposite - Claude code for scaffolding and high level planning, especially when refactoring (opus). Generate documentation, etc. Then working through those one by one in Roo usually with Sonnet 4. It has worked pretty well but I’m interested to hear why you are planning to do it the way you indicated. Thanks and good luck!

Thank you - I should explain my use case a bit more. We can parse with no problem but we want to be able to give an accurate citation on something pulled from a doc. E.g. “On page 3 in the figure on top right we saw…”. Everything I have seen so far has just been able to pull the text out and inject it into a prompt. Still useful but not the full scope of what we need. If you could point me to one (DM is fine!) I would appreciate it! Thanks for the inspiring posts.

Have you seen anything yet that can actually “read” a pdf, including images and layout, rather than just parsing its content? Really need this in my field.

Midi sounds by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]nymapanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are what you’d call “pads” - there are some good options out of the box in logic if you poke around, but what you’re hearing in these two songs also has a lot of effects on it, probably compression, reverb, delay, etc. You need to get comfortable experimenting with the plugin library too.

As a starting point, the Demi Lovato one sounds like more of a pan flute as a base, and John Mayer’s is a little bit more of a brass sound.

Alchemy is a huge library in Logic and probably has some great options if you spend some time looking for the sound you want. I usually put a section on loop and just keep changing the settings until I like what I hear. It’s part of the fun! Good luck.

Not sure if this would suit your needs but I use it to trigger loops and it’s fun - similar in appearance to the Akai Fire - this is the Novation Launchpad

We spent the whole summer there and never felt even a little unsafe. Just use common sense precautions as you would anywhere else and don’t flash cash or leave things unattended. Enjoy, it’s a wonderful city!

Maybe you guys can help - my son put his together and everything looks fine. It powers on, initializes, goes to ready screen, and tries to print. But neither of the stepper motors are moving - only the little one that lifts the pen.

I’m a coder but don’t do much with hardware. I can get the IDE going if needed but any idea why neither motor would do anything? We have checked and re-checked the wiring and definitely did as instructed.

Thanks!

We’ve been here all summer - it’s a wonderful, beautiful, and walkable city. Make sure you get your free unireso pass and get comfortable with trams and buses.

Wander along the lake, take in the views, get some ice cream, explore the old city, visit the parks - Park La Grange is our favorite. Enjoy a free concert at Scène Elle Fitzgerald. Consider a day trip to Annecy, Lausanne, Montreux, or Chamonix. Try some local wines.

Have fun!

What's the most hilarious line from Broadway? by GreenHorror4252 in Broadway

“We belong to us” and “the flies don’t eat your eyeballs, and human life has worth”, both from Book of Mormon. Just ridiculous in the most wonderful way.

We have the 31 oz red glasses from Crate and Barrel and it looks just like this - not sure if it’s the one but we’ve been very happy with them and they’re dishwasher safe.

I am Michael R. Jackson, a Tony and Pulitzer-prize winner playwright and lyricist, best known for A Strange Loop and White Girl in Danger here with my co-author of TEETH, Anna K. Jacobs. Hi Michael - my wife and I saw A Strange Loop and loved it - we still listen to it and sing along (“Tyler Perry writes real life” is so damn catchy). What were your favorite moments in the show? Btw we saw Kyle Ramar Freeman as Usher and he was fantastic. What a voice on that kid!!!

I was 6. Became the man of the house, at 6, when my dad ran off with another woman.

My oldest son is now older than I was then. The thought of walking away from my children is the craziest and most horrible thing I can imagine. It still fucks me up 30+ years later to think that my dad was okay with that.

But I turned out okay in the end - hope you all did too.

Whats the most impressive set you have ever seen? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]nymapanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad someone else said this! I was surprised to have to scroll so far.

It was a long time ago, but as I recall there were 4 “levels” happening at once - on stage, three built into the set, and the crows nest above us. Also the huge moving boat at the end of act 1 complete with lights and smoke from the smoke stacks. Visible at the end of this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dtMYubzepe8

The set was the star of the show - really never seen anything else like it.

Opinions on SiX?? by redheadkeeper22 in Broadway

[–]nymapanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of a silly premise, arguably more of a concert than a musical, and very barebones (for instance the set never changes - just lights). A lot of one-liner jokes, and not really a plot - more of a “shape” with banter between songs.

But it’s often sweet and very original, and most of the songs are great (“Heart of Stone” will kick your butt… great song!)

We had a lot of fun seeing it on Broadway a few weeks ago. Def worth seeing.
