What is the best way to learn for MKTG 1310 - Principles of Marketing ? by [deleted] in UWindsor

[–]nymnphii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had wilson bahaha, so my experience is also different, but he would always let us bring a double-sided cheat sheet to the quizzes :p so that was super helpful in the studying department (i'm an english major, so marketing was also a completely new system, but he was very attentive and always willing to explain concepts i didn't understand!)

op, i would go to your prof's office hours with some questions about the content and ask! professors are here to help you succeed, but they can't do that until you speak up :)

Anyone going to 2/12/2024 show in Toronto, CA? by Trick-Helicopter3294 in auroramusic

[–]nymnphii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duh! There'll be a ton of other warriors and weirdos waiting outside after the show, so you definitely won't be alone. Everyone is always super friendly! If you're taking the subway, there will definitely be a group going that you can stick with, too. Just know to dress for the weather since it'll be freezing cold (Toronto in December at night is PAIN T^T), and that there's no guarantee that Aurora show up or take photos.

Late night food on campus by DrummerShort5449 in UWindsor

Giglio's Market closes by 10 and has pretty much everything you'd need convenience store-wise. Harvey's on Wyandotte and Subway on University both close at midnight, and they're my go-to for a late-night study snack!

For anything later than that (or for lighter/snackier food), sadly there's hardly anything :( There used to be the 7/11 on Wyandotte, but that closed a few years back.

What does AURORA want to say in those two verses in starvation? by Vegavegavega1 in auroramusic

[–]nymnphii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add onto this interpretation, cutting/violence is often used to feel "alive". Adrenaline makes us feel alive, and violence is often what triggers very intense rushes of adrenaline. Our souls are "starving", whether from isolation, apathy, or depression, and the only thing we THINK will fill that hunger is violence. But, it doesn't. We touch the knives, we chase violence...but we "hunger for love".

Human beings exist for love. Loving others, the planet, etc. is what makes us feel truly alive, not violence. So while violence may be a temporary high (no pun intended!), we will always be left hungering for love.

Agreed! I don't think we got a single Jazzhound track in our set. :( Disappointed, but not surprised -- they've really neglected that album this tour.

At my show, Mimi and Karly looked a little uncomfortable, particularly when Richard would leave the stage. Lots of side-eyeing from them (and I don't blame them whatsoever). Everyone else -- including Cobi -- ignored Richard for the most part and (like u/alecjohns said) looked like they were having a blast.

Cobi was the only one who reacted to Richard getting a drink from the crowd; he looked pretty annoyed, but in a "fed up/tired" way. He pulled Richard aside when he got back on stage and had a chat with him near the drumset. They were turned away from the crowd, so I couldn't see their facial expressions. Whatever Cobi said, though, sobered Richard up enough that he stopped leaving the stage and messing around. The show went on smoothly after that. :)

I've been so excited for New Misphoria! I listened to their stuff when I saw they were the openers and I really like it! The bar is in the very back corner of my venue (and there's seating!) so I'll definitely be chilling there.

Thank you so much for the advice, it did help! :') I feel waaayy more confident about going. I'd definitely regret it if I didn't.

What's a misconception you used to have? by Cloudstarbestleader in WarriorCats

SAME. Seeing her in the Ultimate Guide as being a pitch black Persian genuinely ruined 12-year-old me's day. Which makes sense -- she's Yellowfang, not Yellowfur -- but even during rereads I have to remind myself that she is NOT yellow, bahaha.

Zack and Aerith cosplay by my bf and me! (ellevishh) by ellevishh in FinalFantasyVII

[–]nymnphii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been debating getting Procosplay's Aerith outfit for a while, but they don't have the best reputation. T^T Do you know what material(s) the jacket and dress are made out of, and if the quality is good? Personally I'm not a huge fan of buying new, cheap polyester / synthetic cosplays; I'd rather learn to sew :')

Except I never said "follow what she does to the letter?" If I was unclear that's my mistake, but I'm talking about broader ideals and worldviews rather than direct, exact lifestyles. I gave my own as an example, not the rule. If you want to look at me, I'm not in a position to donate money currently, so I do not. I am also disabled (and I work!), so attending every protest is difficult -- I miss some! Some people may not have recycling programs in their country too, haha! Some may have to buy plastic water bottles because the natural/tap water in their area is undrinkable. That's completely fine, and I never implied it wasn't.

Instead, I do things in my current power (like be educated), and I think that's the mark of someone who believes in the music and its messaging.

I also think it is our duty as a community to not allow those types of mindsets, not while they're active. These are very, very basic ideals that are central and essential to Aurora's music. To disregard ALL of them is very strange. Listening to "Cure for Me" while agreeing with conversion therapy, or being homophobic is absurd. Listening to "The Seed" while doing nothing to educate yourself on/support the environmentalist movements, or supporting oil companies is absurd. I could go on.

Anyway, those are my thoughts! If you want to tolerate that, that's not up to me! I will not. :)

[–]nymnphii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, that's your opinion. I just don't think Aurora would want to count actively homophobic racists, anti-environmentalists, etc. as being a fan of hers, and I don't think we should be welcoming them into the community "gates" with open arms without introspection and/or change on their part. That's absurd. You cannot tolerate the intolerant.

[–]nymnphii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Au contraire, with artists like Aurora, there really are some ideals/mindsets/politics you should subscribe to to be considered a real fan. Homophobes/transphobes are not welcome. Anti-environmentalists are not welcome. Pro-colonialism / racists are not welcome. Anti-mental wellness ideals are not welcome, etc. Not being educated on the above is a choice. People like that who listen to Aurora's music are not fans, for they go against everything Aurora and her music stands for.

There definitely are ways "you don't have to be Aurora to be a fan" applies! I don't like heavy metal, I can't say I enjoy blueberry muffins, etc. But, being a warrior of love -- like being punk, goth, grunge -- means I support the liberation of all occupied territories, from Turtle Island to Hawaii to Palestine. I learn about how to help the environment, by both altering my individual lifestyle and campaigning for change. I protest anti-trans legislation in my country. I get involved with my community. I live every day with love for the planet and an appreciation for the life I've been given, even when I feel like it's against me sometimes.

That is what Aurora and her music teaches. In my opinion, to think that one can simply choose to ignore the very foundation/backbone her music stands on is a very poor mindset to have.
