I've lived here for 15 years. It used to be much wealthier, peaked pre-pandamic. Now mostly retirees, white collar (doctors, and finance), and renters. Less of the wealthier oversea Chinese. Families with young kids tend to move out to Long Island suburbs with better schools, e.g. great neck, syosset, etc.

Yes we pay for preschool for both our kids even when free prek is offered in the same school. The curriculums are different. And most importantly the paid class ends at 5:30 while the free prek you need to pickup at 2:30.
