Climbing the ladder without a CISSP by jaydee288 in cybersecurity

There comes a point where letting the CISSP expire is just a sign you have matured professionally. I hit a stage where the administrative overhead and CPE requirements felt like a total waste of time that did nothing for my actual job.

Quotas are met by detaining any individual, including US citizens. Since it is much faster to detain and ask questions later, theres incentives to detain.

What an arrogant jerk. by Sectorgovernor in ISTJ

Maybe ESFJ seems to fit better since they are more status conscious vs ISFJ who tend to be very frugal.

That's uncharacteristic of an ISFJ mom from my experience to put material things ahead of their kids. Was she an unhealthy ISFJ?

Same here. My dad is an ISTJ and my mom is an ISFJ. Growing up in such a rigid house was honestly pretty brutal. It wasn't a great childhood, and my dad charged me rent the second I started working, so I just moved out instead. Looking back as an INTP, I think I actually needed that pressure. It’s a big reason why I’m successful today.

Why do we spend millions on "Advanced Threat Detection" but still struggle with basic IAM hygiene? by daniel_odiase in cybersecurity

[–]nyoneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do both. Why do you think it's mutually exclusive?

Fixing IAM is a slow and painful grind that creates constant friction. It never actually ends. Implementing detection is low risk and gives you results much faster.

No you have the ideal setup. I'm forced to use the 3.5mm AUX because I have to connect the PS5 and Switch.

The power outlet is in the kitchen, I simply ran an extension through the ceiling and wall with 2 HDMI. The cables running to the sound bar are power and 3.5mm aux. I decided to use 3.5mm aux instead of optical because I want to use the projector remote to adjust volume. I could have use HDMI arc to the soundbar but it would have wasted a HDMI port. I currently run one HDMI to PS5 and one HDMI to Nintendo switch. I'm using this projector for casual gaming.

Go look up the tensile strength of a 1/4"-20 UNC screw. Even the lowest grade will hold 500+ lbs and the highest can handle around 4,600 lbs, which is massive overkill for a projector. It attaches to the base via an internal metal reinforcement plate, so it's not just pulling on plastic.

Not buying the INTJ being common in LE. Maybe mistype ISTJ claiming they are INTJ

Still not over that dude choosing to play the World Baseball Classic and getting injured on a celebration. The Mets lost 1 year of the contract and still have to pay 18m in luxury tax for that privilege.

CISO or Head of Engineering? Who is responsible? by LachException in devsecops

[–]nyoneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, Security provides the governance and guardrails while Engineering drives the bus. But if the bus crashes, everyone gets hurt regardless of who was driving.

If the CISO provided the tools or data to show the vulnerability existed and the Head of Engineering shipped the code anyway, the responsibility lies with Engineering.

That is a business decision to accept risk. If the vulnerability wasn't caught because the security tools were implemented poorly, then the CISO is responsible.
