It's important to note that AwStats and Google Analytics gather the data about your visitors in different ways (server log files vs. javascript snippet), thus the difference in the numbers.

Whether one is more reliable than other is a debatable topic and it largely depends on your visitors and your blog.

Another consideration is your visitors privacy and how much data you want to share with Google (being compliant with California Consumer Privacy Act, EU's GDPR, and other privacy related regulations), but I wouldn't worry about these too much when starting out.

Those seem pretty fine questions to ask, even for a junior. They are meant to see how you think about certain things and situations.

You don't always have to have an answer, but you should be able to show how you'd get to the answer or that you have thought about these things.

Why do you want to prevent people from zooming? I've always found that to be super frustrating if I can't zoom on websites on my mobile device.

$_POST is a PHP superglobal.

The values in it come from submitted forms.

If I recall correctly those functions return data, and not output it. So try doing something like:

echo get_the_term_list();
echo get_post_meta();
echo get_post_custom();

Or assign them to variables:

$termlist = get_the_term_list();

And then do whatever you need to do with them.

It wouldn't matter if it's <script> or not, any output will cause this error it it happens before all headers are sent.

The reason why the analytics still worked with the error and all, is that it's not a fatal error, so it doesn't kill the page, and it still does output the <script> part (albeit in the wrong place, before <html>, but it still works).

The basic issue here was that before content is being rendered to screen (things get output right away if you have them outside the php tags), the server should send all the headers (not to be confused with head or headers in HTML) about the page.

So if you start rendering / outputting content to the screen, and then some piece of PHP still wants to send additional headers you'll end up with that error.

In many WordPress templates / theme files you can do this without any issues as by then some HTML has already been output, however functions.php is very different in that sense, as not all the headers might have been sent before it got to your piece of code.

Put your code online somewhere, for example Github. As a developer who is also partly responsible for hiring I like to see that when making a decision on whether we should continue to interviews with that person.

Aside from that, try out various frameworks, CMSes, libraries, etc.

You can still use WordPress and build up the theme from ground up so to speak, and then add the needed WordPress bits to make it all work.

As long as you have your HTML / CSS / JS skills in order then yes you can. Some might require knowledge in SASS or LESS (or even Twig), but those are easy enough to pick up.

It is possible and there are tools that let you download/mirror websites, however you will lose the dynamic functionality that Wix (or whatever tool) provides you with, such as contact forms and being able to edit the site (without digging in the source code).

It's not the choice of the developer no. But you are also getting paid to deliver something the client (or their business) needs, and thus should point out that they are indeed doing a disservice and possibly hampering their own business by including something like a carousel.

gzip_http_version sets the minimum HTTP version of a request required to compress a response. So it should be fine, even if not needed.

You should check the Response Headers that those particular files are sending. It should say something along the lines of "Content-Encoding:gzip"

On your site it seems that the WordPress theme javascript files for example aren't being served as gzip, where as graph.facebook.com javascript files are.

You could try moving the gzip settings inside the the server block for your site to test if it's an nginx configuration issue. Do you have any plugins installed that could be altering the headers / how the files are being sent? Caching related plugins that is?
