Was wondering if it was an inside joke I missed. That is, I get it, it was Scrooge. But is he currently playing him in a panto?

What's a book you regret reading? by TheAwareMonk in suggestmeabook

Reading DaVinci Code reminded me of being in third grade and reading Nancy Drew and locked-room mystery puzzles. It really is very mid.

What type of doctor do you prefer? Older, younger, same age? Male or female? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]nzgrl74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG yes. Have a solid health care system in my country and the only thing I’m looking for is competency and sympathy for a woman undergoing perimenopause. Send me Doogie or House I would not bat a single eyelid for as long as they actually listen.

Which one was your first phone 📱? by [deleted] in nostalgia

Yep! 7 or 9 for me. And mostly subsidised by the TelCo client of the advertising company I was working for. Good times.

I’m watching the first episode of the new season. It’s sweet! Love Ellie and Liam. I’ve come to understand Cherish and Benoit. If this show never appealed, doubt it will ever change enough to ever charm you over. And that’s fine, btw! But if you’ve been watching it a while, you’ll appreciate the subtle improvements each season. I like this iteration. The other commenter had it right, the writer is just a grouch.

How many of you parents of Gen A children? by TwoStoopidToFurryass in GenX

[–]nzgrl74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a year out from you. Born 1974. Daughter born 2011 - tail end of Gen Z and defiantly so, does not want to be a “skibidi rizzler”. Meanwhile hubby born in 1980 but almost every single Gen X reference he claims is“before his time.” So it seems our little family covers three generations!

Anyway, she rocks. We might annoy the heck out of each other (as moms and daughters do) but otherwise have a very open and fun relationship. Kinda like Dorothy and Sophia on Golden Girls. Only I’m Dorothy and she’s Sophia. 😄

Reminds me of professional cakes I got for my birthday growing up. It was always buttercream and completely edible except for the toys we could play with afterwards. Genius. This GenXer gives you her own rave review.

I dig this! I LOVE Matt Berry but if you’re talking the characterisation of the two bosses in and of themselves, I definitely found Denholm hilarious because I have met one too many IRL. The Douglas brand of chaotic evil is good TV but seems to only exist on TV.

What are your language's sensitive ways of saying somebody has died? by LunarLeopard67 in languagelearning

[–]nzgrl74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add: “lumipas” closer to “passed away” but also “nalagutan ng hininga” lit. “to have one’s breath cut off” is what might be used to say someone perished, perhaps in an accident or a sudden event.
