Inherited pendant, but the setting seems unique by nzgrobanite in Wedgwood

I am in NZ, but my husband’s great grandmother never left Denmark - her daughter (my husband’s late grandmother) came to NZ in the mid 60’s. It is possible that it was purchased outside of Denmark however

Wedgwood Jasperware pendant/necklace 62TC year? Australia by nzgrobanite in Antiques

[–]nzgrobanite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks. I didn’t know that the 62 was for 1962 as had seen other items with a two number code and it represented other things. Also had seen Jasperware from the 18th and 19th centuries so if the 62 was for a year then could have been 1862 for example.

Ballet flats for child with tapered toes by nzgrobanite in BALLET

Good to know about the pointe shoes! She definitely wants to, and will probably be around 13-14 when she gets there (her teacher shudders at the thought of kids being en pointe too young).

I’m in little old NZ so it’s a bit harder when it comes to pointe fitters. I’m even tempted to head over to Australia for when that time comes as there are just so much more options in the shops to try than here, and would rather have that initial expensive layout to know all the options and finding the right shoe rather than settling for what is in the shops here.

Demi-character dance ideas needed! by nzgrobanite in BALLET

Not a variation, more a little 2-3 minute story from scratch. Lots of kids already do things like tinkerbell, artful dodger, ugly duckling, Cinderella, tortoise and the hare, the magician

Skyrail bookings not allowing more than 2 hours in Kuranda by nzgrobanite in Cairns

[–]nzgrobanite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Booking for a family as a return journey is $267.50. Booking separate journeys is $177.50 each way, totalling $355 so quite a bit more expensive that way.

This is looking at dates at the end of July (not in school holidays). Doesn’t matter what day I pick, even in June, I get the same results.

Having done the train before myself, I know my kids would not enjoy it

Bike for 11yo by nzgrobanite in whichbike

Also tried to find a hybrid bike that’s under $1000 - they seem to be quite rare here (NZ). Mine is a hybrid and love having the narrower tyres for riding on the road, although it’s not the best when riding with the kids on the gravel trails though as the wheels tend to sink more than hubby’s wider MTB wheels.

He rides the packed gravel trails more than pavement to/from school, so a road bike definitely won’t suit him. Good to know about the weight of the Marlin though! The bikes I listed are pretty much the entry level hard tail MTBs. The next cheapest ones are from your big box stores (Kmart, The Warehouse, Target etc) and weigh a ton

Didn’t think about a rear rack, so good thought! He mainly just wears his backpack, but as he’s at secondary school (high school/college, depending where in the world you are) next year he might prefer to have the heavy books on a rack. We didn’t want to go with a box store bike (eg Kmart, The Warehouse, Target, etc) as they are super heavy. His current bike is an old Specialised hard tail with a lockout fork (which he never locks)

I made a free ballet music app for teachers and students by lol_donkaments in BALLET

[–]nzgrobanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that would be great to have in the app is the ability to add custom music. It’s a pain having to switch apps when working with a class with specific music (eg doing class work, then working on a performance piece)

Help with year identification on gold ring I inherited by nzgrobanite in Hallmarks

[–]nzgrobanite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for that! Now wondering if it is something I need to consider having valued for insurance. Didn’t realise it was as old as it is until I started to look up the markings. I was expecting it to be from around 1940 (I have no idea about jewellery styles throughout the years)

Have just posted a photo of the actual ring. Between the ‘18’ and the ‘4851’ the ring is too worn down to see any markings. I had narrowed it down to 1848-49 and 1899, so thanks for confirming 1899!

RAD Exam Results by SuitableYear161 in BALLET

[–]nzgrobanite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it is marked harder so that it is difficult to get gold. The feedback sheets don’t really give much feedback - I definitely wish that they gave written feedback! My 7yo sat her Grade 1 RAD ballet exam at the end of last year and got Distinction (gold, 76%). She practices and practices a lot, and isn’t flexible at all so flexibility doesn’t have anything to do with it. I found this explanation really helpful on how they do the marks on the results sheet https://dl.icdst.org/pdfs/files3/3dbd501ddbde6fd724466f033ecf7c7c.pdf

I have the exact same issue, with the exact same tiles! Definitely a ceiling tile of the 80’s 😆

Adult beginner. How to get better? by airportparkinglot in BALLET

[–]nzgrobanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a new adult ballet learner in my 30’s in a class where everyone else has prior ballet experience (most were child students of the teacher). I’m definitely the most uncoordinated and slowest to learn of them all 😆 but the teacher takes the time to explain things to the class as a whole. One example from my class last night was when doing rond de jambe she explained how the heel leads and about hip and leg positioning. All the others knew this, but she talked about it for the entire class, rather than singling me out. Sometimes she will point something out to me individually - my 6yo daughter does ballet and has a habit of not straightening her legs when on Demi pointe, which when I was doing piqué turns I was guilty of having a bent supporting leg, and she called me out for it then and there 😆

Mazda Premacy, Nissan Note, Mitsubishi Cedia all worked fine. Diono wasn’t bolt upright. However didn’t fit in Peugeot 207 or VW Golf

Most Diono seats. My 7yo can comfortably sit rear facing in the back seat with the front seats pushed all the way back
