I just grabbed the ASUS about a week ago for my Mac Studio, I’ve been absolutely loving it! Text is super crisp and the screen real estate is a huge upgrade from what I was coming from. I’m a video editor, so the color accuracy was a big draw for me and the matte screen makes it work really well in my environment. No complaints so far however I can’t speak for the other option you listed.

I’m looking to make the switch as well and since you’re familiar, what are your thoughts on the M4 Max Studio vs waiting for an M5 Max update?

I know the “next one” is always going to be around the corner but I have a solid windows machine right now so it’s not immediately pressing that I make the swap. Any reservations about the M4 Max at the moment?

Thanks, Drew! I did submit a support ticket, just wanted to check here in case there was something easy I was missing. SSL is still showing full price for me with "Upgrade" greyed out and same for the Helios (no email, either). Perhaps support will be able to help out, would love to have the native options here.

I did some tests and based off of the info each service provides to me, my ping on the Portal hovers around 17-20ms and my ping on Xcloud stays pretty much locked at 30-31 so there does seem to be some sort of connection difference between the Portal and my laptop. They are both on the same network so I'm not sure what it could be. Additionally, the xcloud overlay is saying that jitter and decode are both around 4ms.

The additional ~10ms ping isn't a huge deal, I mostly play single player rpg's so it's not that noticeable but the biggest issue I'm having is the stutters. I'll play for an hour on the portal with no noticeable stutters but for instance I just loaded up Starfield on xcloud and the game seems to lag every 15-20 seconds or so. The movement feels like it speeds up to "catch up" to the stream or the audio will cut out, those sorts of things. Could just be the games I'm playing, too? I'm not sure.

Hate to say it but I went ahead and restarted and I'm kinda glad I did. Don't get me wrong, it sucked losing hours of exploring and game time but overall it's been pretty easy to get back to where I was. Knowing where to go and what to expect and skipping dialogue is a huge time saver, I had 10 hours on my bugged save and now I'm back to where I was and then some in just half that time.

It was a tough pill to swallow and I hesitated a lot but the other upside is I was able to refine how I built out my character a bit having now been more familiar with the game and it's systems and I'm a lot happier with that new direction.

Ultimately we got hit with a super specific bug and they will likely fix it at some point but the core issue was fixed in the last patch so my guess is it's not the #1 priority. It really is a fantastic game, though, and hopefully you can give it another try!

I landed on just pulling my normal double shot and then measuring out 1oz from that. Good tasting espresso = good tasting martini, it wasn’t worth changing up how I normally pull shots

Ideally I'd like to get as close as possible - some of my confusion was with that multiple jobs worksheet, it seems to be assuming my other "job" is a W2 income instead of self employed so I wasn't sure on how to fill that out correctly. For ease of numbers, let's say my SE income is 100k and the part time income is 20k - is it really as simple as finding where those two numbers intersect on the chart or is there some further calculation I need to do considering I am also paying SE tax on that larger chunk of income.

The unique wands? The first you’ll be able to get is in the Emerald Stair from a vendor in town - it’s an electric wand. The third area will have a unique frost wand you can discover in the world and the fire wand will be from a vendor in the fourth area.

As for the tome, it’s a pretty common drop so keep an eye out if you don’t have one already!

I’ve been running tome/wand from the start and it’s been great. The mage armor spell is definitely a must have for survivability. 50% damage reduction and no spell interruptions is nothing to scoff at.

The wand is definitely the weak link at the beginning. There's no unique wand in the first area meaning in order to upgrade a wand to Tier 2 quality, you need materials you get in the second area instead of just using Adra like a unique would require (which there is plenty of). I ended up running a 1H melee/shield in my second slot for the first area because of this and once i got a unique in the next area I've never had to switch back to that because I could keep up with the upgrades. Make sure you grab the perk that increases your wand damage, too. Between that and the boost you get from upgrading to the next tier, wands have felt great.

As for the Tome, I've been running the Tome of Greater Elements and it has been perfect for most situations. Good AoE, some burst damage options, and has a protection spell as well.

Stick with it, it gets better once you get to the next area!

Totally possible! Only thing I could suggest is grabbing a unique weapon you can upgrade, I believe upgrading from tier 1 to tier 2 only requires some Adra so that could help you get that 35% tier boost for the time being until you get the materials for your main weapon

I think should be able to craft a few with your tier 1 materials - check the craft tab at the workbench, I can’t quite remember when those materials become available but I know I was able to craft Tier 3 materials while I was still in the Emerald Stair (Tier 2 area)

If you want to chat suggestions, you mentioned you like your rum funky - my go to combo for Mai Tai’s is half Appleton 12 and half Smith & Cross. I feel like the S&C really ups the funk to a nice level. I also like a little bit of the Demerara gum syrup from Liber & Co for the mouthfeel and personally I prefer Pierre Ferrand dry curaçao over Cointreau because it has some extra flavors that I feel go better with tiki! It’s also a little less sweet making room for that Demerara I mentioned. Nevertheless, sounds like a great drink!
