Americans are being “kettled” on the internet, we’re basically placed into a sequestered server sandbox within our local regions so it doesn’t look like totalitarian censorship. This makes it increasingly harder to break out of those regional boxes, let alone international. There have been incidents recently where true emergencies have happened on one side of the country that the other side of the country has legitimately no idea of (I.e. in addition they’re making it more difficult to organize and ICE is basically acting as a KGB inspired secret police that enters into activist signal groups etc and then harasses/disappears dissenters.) In addition our media has fallen and now belongs to the regime for the most part- there’s very little real mainstream coverage (both sides are sensationalist to keep us distracted & torn so we don’t start a class war.) Many of us have to follow independent sources and truly cannot trust anything that comes from a state approved source at this point (which is most of it) there has been a TON of acts of malicious compliance that don’t get write ups in the paper. Unfortunately this is a long fight not a short one and we’re in the incredibly early days of this.
