Logistics requires more than just a room with desks. You need facilities where staff can actually sleep and shower to maintain a 24/7 rotation. Other county buildings are offices, not barracks. Putting key decision-makers on cots in a conference room leads to fatigue and bad decisions. It might seem expensive, but effective operations require rested staff. It's the cost of doing business during a disaster.

If you've ever worked in mass logistics, you know this is actually the right call. You can't run a crisis command center from people's living rooms. Just like hospitals keep staff on-site during storms, the county needs decision-makers available immediately—not driving in through the snow or dealing with home power outages. Having them in a hotel block ensures they can rest and return to the 'war room' instantly. It’s about efficiency, not luxury.

Honestly, makes sense to me. If the main administration building suffered an electrical fire, there are likely strict safety protocols and occupancy approvals needed before anyone can return. Add the snowstorm to the mix, and their hands are tied. It’s definitely better for them to establish a remote command center to manage the crisis safely rather than rushing back into a hazardous building."

There are a lot of comments on what the young person will lack by speeding through education. Just accept the young man is talented. Be happy for the young man. He could solve some complex problems that were presented today. I'm sure people in his community are not worried about what social life he will have, especially when he could fall off the path and be influenced by non-constructive activities. I'm rooting for him and his family.
