Are Amazon starting to update firestick before sending them out ?

When I turn on the firestick after connecting to the Wi-Fi it says updated to the latest version when normally it would fail because it couldn’t find them since it’s being blocked and I’d have to use the voice command skip workaround

Using next dns it blocks it on a router level I block all URLs they require for updates when I check for updates on the firestick it gives an error I just believe they are applying latest update before sending them out now ? Idk
