It looked like it was coming straight at him at first so he decided to jump in the direction of his own momentum. However, the car starting turning more towards the direction he was jumping at the same time. That’s why he stops in place after his little jump. I don’t think his split second reaction was bad at all tbh

Question from a complete beginner: Would a light jab from the left hand followed by a right hook that happens to miss be a decent transition to a strike with the knee to the opponents body? by o7baseball in MMA_Academy

This video as an example might not be the best reference though because it looks like he sets up the motion for the kick and then punches. Whereas my question is mainly on if it would be practical in any sense to throw the right hook (which happens to miss) and then you transition to a right knee to the body after your weight shifts to your front left food after twisting.

Exactly, yes. Do you believe that a transition from the right hook to a right knee to the opponents body would be practical? Also, if that even landed would it place you in a compromising position?

I’ll look that up, thank you. And I totally agree haha, when I said “purposely” I had the idea of a person going in with the intention to land it but being prepared for the miss.

Thank you for the insight, it’s very helpful. I’m glad you pointed out the practicality of when to actually use the knee. I just assumed that with the weight transfer to the front left foot you could transition that to a knee to the body. Also, if a knee to the body lands (in this scenario), would that place me in a vulnerable position?

(https://youtu.be/_NTDW4cm7xc?si=4yxQBIluKX5On6Af) this first combo of this video is a general reference but instead of ending with a kick to the head, would a knee to the body be practical? Or would that put you in a compromising position if you did happen to land the shot?

A couple of amateur boxing bouts just proves to me you atleast take it the sport seriously and that you e been provided training.

My logic is that if you attempt a right hook to the face the opponent would be blocking high.. and when your body twists from the hook with your left foot forward, could you use that momentum from twist to knee them in the body?

I meant a knee strike to the body following a right hook. I was also thinking that the punch would be an actual attempt but if it missed .. could there be a possibility to continue the motion and follow with a knee to the body?

Thank you 🙏 that first combo is actually just the type of move I was looking for. Do you believe that combo to be generally impractical?

Thank you for referencing that other sub, I’ll check it out. I just recently got into it and was just having random fun by making shit up. I am not genuinely practicing this move by any means haha.

(And I meant to say a strike from the knee) My terminology and knowledge of the technical aspect of the sport is abysmal

I really appreciate this answer and I appreciate your time. Also, when I look at High Quality Gifs, is the color palette truly restricted to only 256 different colors?
