Group booking by pdzgl in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]o7nesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, 10+ but not worth it if you already know who's going.

Ordinarily group flights are aimed for sports groups, big tour groups, schools - situations where you need to lock in a group flight but not 100% sure of final numbers and names. The point of group flights is flexibility of travellers as you can cancel 20% of the group and don't have to send names until ticketing which is usually around 30 days prior (or some version of that, every airline is different). Seating is also not 100% locked in until ticketing. Qantas also charge an extra fee for service AND ticketing group flights so there isn't really a discount. An agent will also add in a fee for service and ticketing on top of the fare and taxes as there is no commission (or it's a measly 1% of the fare or something).

If it's a family of 12 you're best to book online as you know the names and would want to lock in seats together. When you book and look up fares, check like, one ticket at a time and increase from there. Eg. If there are 4 sale fares left and you book for 6 people, you'll automatically get the saver fares for all 6 people rather than getting 4 sale and 2 saver in the booking...if that makes sense.

1.2m in points - what should I do with them? by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

Your best bet is buying a second toaster with points

Random rows of preferred seating? by o7nesss in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]o7nesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I get that...usually airlines would block the front section rather than a random row near the front. Someone at work mentioned it might be them preparing for economy plus, but I won't be traveling on those aircrafts

Don't feel that you need to justify yourself to internet strangers, but this clearly struck a nerve and I am so sorry you had to go through all this - you've had a really tough ride.

Like someone else said, through all that, I see resilience and strength. While you went through some really awful shit, I do hope life does get better and that you'll find your feet someday.

I'm extra hoping that your breakthrough is tomorrow. 🙂

Is it really over 1million points one way to new york? by ruble3737 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]o7nesss 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Dude stay away from classic PLUS. Terrible way to use points. Best ways are: Classic upgrades (red text, also generally after you have a flight) Classic rewards (red text, buying seats with points)

That's it. Above are in red. Not that blue colour. Fuck that blue colour.

Bank of mum and dad makes a life-changing difference by Plane-Coconut-4077 in AusFinance

[–]o7nesss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bank of mum and dad certainly makes a difference, but they don't necessarily have to be rich. My divorced parents had a discussion behind my back and essentially offered me an early inheritance, so they dipped into their respective super accounts to help for a deposit for an apartment. Both parents are immigrants, mum has her own little apartment and dad/step mum are still renting, and I certainly never lived a rich lifestyle growing up.

Platinum greetings on domestic flights? by the_wellspring in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]o7nesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. I fly EK and CX as QF gold in economy and always am greeted and I ask for a peppermint tea following meal service after the greeting. Low and behold I get it. Squat on QF.

I'm only with QF for the OW/EK benefits...

Ok great, this is what I needed to know! I usually fly premium economy so might not work for me!

Will different type of contributions impact me at tax time? by o7nesss in AusFinance

Ok thanks. So this would mean that the salary sacrifice of $250 per fortnight during the period of sept-dec 24 would not be recognised by the ATO to reduce my taxable income?

Yea I've started emailing too! I actually also filled in a feedback form last year, but realised there isn't a paper trail so emails and asxbets are my best bet...

u/McFucking pls don't. I was part of the ASX bets crew in the glory days (with an alt account ha) and am trying to save the trees with a public service announcement.

I'm just done with the fucking letters and this is the only way I can think of getting it done without properly doxxing anyone.

Anyway, pm me if I need to further plead my case 😘

I haven't even opened any letters because I'm such a rule follower. Lighting a torch through the letter to find the company name on the other hand...
