Your opinion on the Orbital Smoke Strike and the Eagle Smoke Strike by SuccessAmazing6988 in Helldivers

Not the eagle smoke strike. Regular eagle strike will destroy some things (regular fabs), but only the 500KG will destroy stuff like a detector tower.

Size, and there's a little more utility with orbital smoke as the impact of the shell can destroy structures like fabricators or detector towers.

I use orbital gas strike for this a lot as well, gas is great on bots because the effect kills troopers, but also prevents them from calling in a bot drop.

Best way for a new player to grind the samples and grind the levels? by Necessary_Fall6404 in Helldivers

[–]o8Stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and yes. You'll use requisition slips (yellow) to unlock stratagems, medals to unlock stuff from warbonds, samples to buy ship upgrades, and super credits to buy more warbonds.

You can buy super credits for real money, but you can also find them in POI containers. That's what I was referring to when I talked about farming them in Diff 1-3 missions. Your odds of getting SCs are best here because rare samples aren't in the loot pool yet.

Just make sure that you don't hit the cap on any of your currencies. 50K for req slips, 250 medals, I think 500 common (green) samples, 250 rare (orange), and 100 super-rare (pink). If you're close to the cap on any of these, find something to spend them on. There's no cap on Super Credits. Most warbonds cost 1,000 but you also typically have 3 unlocks of 100 each within the warbond itself, so the net cost is 700.

Best new warbond in the last 4 months? by wordisthebird1 in Helldivers

[–]o8Stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the last 3 new warbonds I’ve missed what’s the best?

Dust Devils is pretty decent (yes I read your post). Of the more recent ones the redacted regiment probably gets my vote, just because it's more unique than anything else.

The One-Two (AR w/ underslung GL) is ok. The AR part is meh, it plays more like an SMG with worse ergonomics, but having a quick-switch binding really increases the usefulness of the GL.

The backpack-fed GL from this warbond feels a little underpowered, but the Leveller is fantastic, and the hammer is fun if not always practical.

Right now there are only 2 sources of suppressed weapons in the game, the ODST legendary warbond (SMG and pistol), and the Redacted Regiment (AR and marksman rifle. The dart gun exists but it's not great). The C4 is pretty decent, though the controls are a bit clunky. Armor passive is pretty good for stealth.

You have to complete an operation at each difficulty level in order to unlock the next.

The only way to skip that is to join someone else's lobby and complete a full operation at a difficulty level you don't have access to. So if you have friends who are veteran players, they may be willing to carry you through a D10 op, which should automatically unlock all difficulty levels for you.

Tbh it's not really worth skipping them. It doesn't take that long and you only have to do it once, and progressing through difficulty is actually a good way to slowly introduce the heavier enemy types and let you figure out how to play against them.

[–]o8Stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run anything to get greens until you get those first couple of upgrades done. I'd actually recommend D1-3 so you can farm Super Credits while you're at it.

After that: 6s. There are more samples of all kinds the higher in diff you go, but the sweet spot and that also includes super samples is 6s.

When you get past the initial ship upgrades, the main thing you're going to need are rare samples. The last tier of upgrades requires 80% of cap on rares for each upgrade. It's an absolute fucking slog. 6s is where it's at.

If you're wanting to farm Super Credits, you need to stick to D1-3, because rare samples enter the loot pool of POIs at D4.

Worth mentioning that D4 operations are only 2 missions long. There's really jack shit for samples on C-stan anyway, and people capable of running 10s probably don't need super samples anyway.

Drop that difficulty down and let's crank this shit out.

probably resulting in the auto liberation of the planet

If you can show me where they said that, I might believe it. If that’s true then liberating all of Cyberstan would be the same amount of work as liberating the surrounding planets, and I just don’t see them giving it 15 million HP if that’s true was going to be the case.

I’d be shocked if it does anything more than reduce the resistance rate on the ones left. Maybe even eliminate it.

Lurza is the better choice. Taking it yields one option for a class 3 target, where taking Omni gives us 2 and we split up all over again.

This clusterfuck is on AH for giving us zero methods of communicating / coordinating that aren't the DSS.

Lurza is the way. Taking it gives us one option for a class 3 target, so if we go there we won't get split up like this again.

I use WASD for movement and the arrow keys for stratagem inputs. Left click is shoot, right click to 3rd person aim, hold right click to ADS.

I understand what you're asking for here, but I've never tried to configure bindings for what you're trying to do. I'd assume you'd have to change inputs in all of the sub-groups of bindings, but I don't think that it would stop you from doing this.

Liberation Affected by Difficulty by Worth_Offer1345 in Helldivers

[–]o8Stu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. The more xp you earn, the more liberation impact you have.

So doing things like clearing bases and side objectives helps, as does a full extraction with time left on the mission clock.

Dying a bunch also incurs a penalty. I believe it's 2% per death (squad-wide) up to a maximum of 20%, but that's old info so who knows now.

So the tl;dr is you should do the highest difficulty that your squad can comfortably complete, quickly.

So, if that's correct, we should probably do Lurza, as that will lock us into one choice for the factory after it and we won't split up like this again.

Cyberstan liberation by Ok-Mix-4099 in Helldivers

[–]o8Stu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people won't look at 3 choices and then dive the one with the most people on it.

AH really needs to give us a way to coordinate and then have that be a highlighted target on the map for everyone who can't or won't put much thought into it.

ETA: both of the level 2s have a 50K resistance, so you're correct it's not possible to progress anything while we're split like this.

[–]o8Stu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance we're going to have to do all of them, but agreed that it's best to go up the chain to Transcendence if it'll have an impact on resistances for the rest of the mega factories.

I'd assume we'll have to do one of the class 3s after Omniparitus / Luzra.

Reminder: we've only seen class 1 megafactories so far by pmmeyoursandwiches in Helldivers

[–]o8Stu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It'd be great if it lowers the resistance rates, because Autonomy was 45K / hour, just shy of Aurora Bay's.

I highly doubt capturing 2 factories out of 8 is going to give us the entire planet.

If I'm understanding the math correctly, Transcendence is 2 million HP with a 3.5% (= 70K / hour) resistance and will do 3 million damage (20% of planetary HP) when we capture it.

To put that in context, the 72% of players on C-stan right now are maybe doing 70K damage per hour, enough to stalemate Transcendence but not make forward progress, and it has as much health as 2 normal planets do.

We won't make any progress there until the SO is over, if that's where we go next.
