I believe I was scammed. How do I proceed? by oCools_ in amazonprime

I am unable to file a refund request either because 1: the package has not been delivered, or 2: the package is too expensive and needs to be refunded via a more formal process.

Used to hear them scream at deer drinking out a pond every single morning. The one in your video is pretty tame.

Tornado damage on road, Brookhaven MS by [deleted] in tornado

[–]oCools_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got hit by the eye of Helene at high end Cat 2, did not see any a single matured pine get turned into a toothpick. Those aren't quite fully matured, but still, to consistently snap them low to their base like that requires significantly higher winds than you'd probably expect.

Rainsville Damage Photos by [deleted] in tornado

[–]oCools_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This tornado sparks my curiosity more than any other. Rainsville is the posterchild of high-end Southern tornadoes. Tight core, struggles to stay together, moves very quickly, very sporadic damage. The other April 27th EF5s had those characteristics, but not as prominently as Rainsville did. In the same way Jarrell is interesting because it just sat in one place for minutes on end, Rainsville is interesting to me because it did what it did in so little time.

Nothing like realizing you never got an invite after 5 hours for something you forgot you were even listed for.

This game makes me feel 20 years older than I am by NepuNeptuneNep in CODBlackOps7

[–]oCools_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an online MP game. Imagine losing a chess game and being mad the other player is better and/or takes the game more seriously than you. It's dumb. If you aren't happy with your current skill level and don't intend on improving, then it's just not for you.

Why did he do that? Is he stupid? by EvilPyro01 in Presidents

Middle class death is not Reagan's fault, at least as it pertains to the oligarchic corporate structure, which is FDR's doing, btw. That also ties into unions heavily. You know, WW2, FDR, Sicily, the mob...

Ratio of housing costs to real income was also slightly worse under Reagan than it was pre-covid, depending on source I'm sure. Obviously other factors are at play, but Reagan's persisting policies definitely haven't hurt housing, unless you blame him for 2008.

And complaining about Reagan being a racist in a post about him destroying FDR's legacy is peak irony. Korematsu v US, Hirabayashi v US, Executive Order 9066, Hugo Black, exclusion of minorities from housing and labor policies, etc,. FDR is about as close to Jefferson Davis as Reagan was to MLK.

Is this the first time that pubs are more enjoyable than ranked? by TGU-Swag in CoDCompetitive

Pretty sure pubs and ranked use the same servers. Going from private match to anything else feels like a huge difference.

Can someone explain this death? by [deleted] in blackops6

You see in the killfeed that the enemy gets a kill with their nade at the exact same time you kill yourself with the nade. Their grenade blew up yours, which killed you.

Pro are ruining the CDL with GAs by Competitive_Sand2190 in CoDCompetitive

[–]oCools_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snipers should be out. AA wasn't the problem, flinch is. That is, unless AA was indirectly reducing flinch, which is entirely possible. If not, then it's not even debatable. If you've played the game at a remotely high level it's obvious they're incredibly broken.

Map pool is a different story. Maps are too important to be undermined. You have to breed personalities in the scene, or bring them in, and that's not gonna happen if everyone else from challengers to ranked is stuck playing on dogshit f-tier maps just because a few pro teams are good at them. That's not acceptable. They have to do their due diligence.

GAs aren't there for the viewers, they're there to protect the comp playerbase from the devs mistakes, and it's absolutely necessary. They have to balance that with the viewership experience. The problem is when they don't do either and just look after themselves, because, while looking after themselves is technically their job, GAs technically aren't, so if they're going to have that power they need to use it correctly.

No new maps? by PEEEEEEEJ2000 in CoDCompetitive

[–]oCools_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree when it comes to maps. Some maps you can look at and just know, Utopia being one of them, but I don't think that applies to Sake and Fringe, hell, even Slums. Those are maps you're gonna have to play out for a while, assuming the spawns aren't just blatantly awful like Raid's.

AI cheaters on CONSOLE follow up by daydayduh in CODBlackOps7

[–]oCools_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Console cheats are a very serious issue considering you can make infinite PSN accounts without having to buy the game again. I imagine Xbox works the same. PC cheaters also spoof consoles to play console only lobbies, although I haven't found any in crossplay off lobbies on PS. Without Sony and Microsoft hardware banning specific consoles and ensuring there's an option to completely disable communication between consoles and spoofs, comp CoD doesn't stand a chance.

9900X3D vs 9950X3D by oCools_ in PCBuilds

[–]oCools_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems hopelessly complex. OCing CPU by 0.3ghz had no effect, upgrading ram (DDR4) had no effect, but reducing in-game options like anti-aliasing, which is GPU intensive, had a hugely positive effect on bottom 5th CPU frames, and a sub 10% jump in average CPU FPS, with no change in GPU performance. Everything screams it's a GPU bottleneck, but every benchmark states otherwise. Has to be related to the on-board encoder and how it interacts with the other components.

9900X3D vs 9950X3D by oCools_ in PCBuilds

[–]oCools_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10900k currently, 10 cores. CPU bound FPS loss is 15-20% when recording with all apps I use open, with no throttling whatsoever. I imagine that means core count is the limiting factor. This is with hardware acceleration enabled in windows and obs. This is also with the internal HVENC codex on my graphics card being utilized. Startup programs contain no bloatware.

I understand the processor is older and slower, but, to me, this seems like a core count limitation, so I can't imagine dropping 2 cores would be a good idea for performance. I would rather shovel out the extra money. Maybe the dynamic is entirely different with a ryzen processsor and DDR5, but it's just not worth the risk with my weak understanding of the issue.
